A GOP Senate aide told Business Insider that Republicans are considering a plan that would fund the government at the levels dictated by the sequestration -- which amounts to about $85 billion in spending cuts for fiscal year 2013 -- while giving the Obama administration the flexibility to reprogram the cuts at their discretion, provided that the balance remains between defense and non-defense discretionary spending cuts.

"House Republicans are also unlikely to provide much support for a plan that gives the Obama administration the authority to determine the spending cuts. "

oddly enough (or accidentally) it appears though Boehner & company have got Obama painted into a corner.

with budget "continuing resolution" requiring renewal in March to avert a REAL GVT SHUTDOWN, Repubs have all the leverage

heck, even MSM are calling out Obama lies on sequester stuff

"Repubs have all the leverage"

And they are using it to cut military spending which in any other moment they would strenuously oppose. Thus they are accomplishing cuts that they don't even want but that the left does. Meanwhile, SS, Medicare and Medicaid are exempt from any cuts at all. Yeah, they really thought this through. Uh-huh sure!

It's not up to Obama.

Wow,

You really don't believe anything is Obama's fault, do you? It could be up to Obama, if he had any leadership, but since he doesn't, you are correct, it wont be up to him, he wouldn't want to put his toe in the water so it couldn't be pinned on him. But this one is his baby, you cant get the stink of the sequester off of him.

By leadership you mean if he would cave in to Republicans and cut what they want to cut without any revenue increases. He is leading, you just don't like the direction he is leading in. If the GOP insists on big budget cuts with no revenue increases Obama has made sure they will be largely making those cuts from the bloated Defense Dept. In a nation with low taxes on the wealthy we just really can't continue to fund a military of the gargantuan proportions we currently do.
