Former suburban Chicago police officer Drew Peterson was sentenced to 38 years in prison Thursday for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. Peterson and Savio had divorced a year earlier, and prosecutors said his motive was to avoid paying a pending financial settlement. Peterson, 59, shouted in court during sentencing, "I did not kill Kathleen." His fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007, leading authorities to reopen the case into Savio's death after it was thought to be an accident. Advertisement
