A Nanuet, N.Y., man has been arrested on terroristic threat and weapons charges after allegedly posting death threats on Facebook against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (R), Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I), several Democratic Congressional leaders and the Congressional Black Caucus. Police searching the home of Lawrence Mulqueen, 49, found two rifles, bayonets, ammunition, body armor, a sword and a knuckle knife, police said. He's a convicted felon prohibited from owning the weapons, said Clarkstown police Sgt. Glenn Cummings. Mulqueen used a pseudonym on the Facebook posts, Cummings said.

He threatened every black member of congress?

Doesn't that qualify him as a racist?

Hahaha most boy scouts have that in their "arsenal" (knives?)
We've gone from "machine guns" to knives in the attempt to disarm the populace --which will stop crime of course. At some point in time I hope to hell we step back and take a better look at things and try to make some sense of this.

When investigators searched the man's home, they found two rifles, bayonets, ammunition, body armor, a sword and a knuckle knife,

That constitutes a "massive arsenal"?

I wonder what mine qualifies as?

I also noticed he is under arrest now. So something worked.

Yea, a different law that was being enforced.

"See how well those laws keep weapons out of the hands of criminals?"
Exactly had the laws NY has in place not been there or he lived in Texas or Mississippi he would have been able to keep those weapons to come home to, after he was freed.

No he wouldn't.
Lie some more.

I'm sure there will be a "Plea Deal" or Time Off for "Good Behavior"..... Oh Well, some much for Enforcing Laws Already On The Books

OMG he had butter knives? a gas can? a bullet?

So I should pay taxes lock him up because you're scared? How about if we lock YOU up? Sadly it seems that was beyond what this guy hoped for since he had no constitutional rights as a felon.

He's a gonner now - arrested for speaking while a felon. Sorta like driving while black.

Good think he was all talk instead of action.

Buckle knife? I didn't realize those existed outside the confines of the county fair.

#14 | Posted by snoofy at 2013-02-23 07:24 PM | Reply | Flag:

Not possible. He could not have been armed. There are laws in NY against that.

#15 | Posted by sames1 at 2013-02-23 07:25 PM | Reply | Flag:

How much you wanna bet he used a "pseudonym" to buy all his weapons? I understand that it's pretty easy to buy weapons over the internet (at least, that's what all the gun nuts like to say when they highlight ads from Craigslist, showing how "lax" the gun control laws are). And, considering the fact that the NRA is COMPLETELY opposed to background checks, you have to think they're not too concerned about internet sales.

And, for the record Diablo, New York's Governor Cuomo is a Democrat--not a "R" as you posted ("against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (R),").

Sorry then I was wrong. I am happy to hear both those states would also take away his weapons and hope they have background check laws in place to see he cannot buy more.

To those who want more gun laws, do us all a favor and know the current ones.

Odds are you don't and can't know all 20,000 of the current ones on the books - frankly no one can and often the BATF even gets it wrong.

But at least know that felons can't own firearms. That is not a state law, it is a federal law. It is universal as law goes.

But equally as universal is the fact that even as a felon, even in the face of 20,000 current gun laws, this guy still armed up.

That's why gun people have little faith that any new laws will stop the bad guys, but gun people do know they will have to live under yet another burst of useless restrictions.

"arrested for speaking while a felon"

No, Reitze, for making DEATH THREATS and for possessing firearms. Free speech has never meant you can issue death threats. And while we can argue against firearm-ownership ending with conviction of a felony, it is the law. Fight it, but live it until you overturn it. Or don't complain when you get arrested for breaking it. I have a bigger problem with losing the vote 'cause you're a felon than with having weapons taken away permanently.

.... Who Do You Really Trust?

**** If you had to add up what a reckless, ranting nut like Lawrence Mulqueen did for you or the country compared say to the lying/thieving politicians...I wonder who'd come out on top?

Can some constitutional scholar explain why it's okay to deny felons of the Second Amendment rights?

About 2500 years ago some Greek dude in Athens said "Law is reason divorced from emotion". Every bad law I have seen passed in the last 50 years has been the result of reaction to a false crises. A event.(like Sandy Hook) happens and it is woven into a narrative for an agenda. The left, (especially the ACLU) used law suits to release and prevent the involuntary confinement of the seriously mentally ill. The result is our streets are filled with schizophrenic and delusional people who are incapable of caring for themselves. The vast majority of these people are not dangerous, but they are easy prey for predators that come out from under rocks found in every city. Those that are dangerous and a real threat can remain in our homes and on our streets because of the fear of law suits that all bureaucrats fear more than doing wrong... Like not confining a seriously delusional young man when his own mother was begging for help for a period of three years. What we have is not a gun control problem, gun laws are only obeyed by the law abiding. What is the real problem is a mental health system that serves nothing, protects no one. and is shackled to the alter of political correctness. We used to call mental hospitals asylums for a reason, they were a refuge for those who could not care for themselves. Of course the left would prefer these people to be "street meat".

LOL. Of course governments all over the country slashing budgets for mental health facilities going back decades now had nothing to do with it. No, it's the liberal ACLU and their defending people one at a time that's the problem.

How could it be any different when you have a right to freedom but no right to health care?

Because the bill of rights isn't a suicide pact?

#27 | Posted by Tor at 2013-02-25 05:12 PM | Reply | Flag:

#35 that's not an explanation. Should crimes involving lying result in loss of First Amendment? Crimes involving hiding something in your home result in loss of Fourth Amendment? Crimes where you didn't testify against yourself result in loss of Fifth Amendment?

Snoofy have you ever heard the phrase "dead or alive"?

That should give you an idea how violent felons were viewed in the past.

As for non-violent felons I'm not sure if the "no-guns" law applies to them.
