Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, February 21, 2013

A federal civil rights complaint has been filed against the Arlington, Texas, school district by the mother of an eighth-grade boy who had pencil shavings poured into his mouth by his teacher at Boles Junior High. Deidre Brown, the mother of 13-year-old Marquis Jay, filed a complaint with the Department of Education Office of Civil Rights. The female teacher was suspended but has returned to work. "Instead of coming out clean and saying we don't tolerate this, they decided to cover it up and let her go back to class," said Kyev Tatum, who is representing the family.

I'd rather eat pencil shavings than skrool food.

This teacher thought this was a good idea? This teacher should be brought up on charges.

If she really did it, yes. This is abusive behavior at best. I mean, I'm crazy in the classroom, but this is too much.

So from reading the article - she wasn't black. Why is it always about race? I would like to know what the kid did to trigger the reaction. That isn't noted anywhere. My bet is it had to do more with behavior...

It makes sense. There are budget problems in the school district and the school is in need of repair. Teach was hoping 2x4s would come out of the other side.

She was hoping for some nails too but the kid refused to eat any metal shavings.

Whether it was a racial incident or not, she should be fired and should never work around kids again.

Years of DR experience----although I wouldn't call it trolling if you make a statement (not this thread) challenging the non-thinking to assess some of their assumptions in support of an issue when given a similar assumption that makes them uncomfortable about their original assumption. Prag, gnaw on that one.

13: You gotta learn to let go. I addressed that in that other thread. Take it up with other posters who didn't. I did; it's over.

But you get points for "gnaw" in the context of a pencil-sharpening-related thread.
