McCain Gets an Earful on Immigration

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) hosted two town hall meetings in his state this week where angry residents shouted at him over the proposal to give illegal immigrants a path to citizenship. "There are 11 million people living here illegally," McCain said at one event. "We are not going to get enough buses to deport them." After one man in the crowd yelled that only guns would discourage illegal immigration and another called them illiterate invaders who wanted free government benefits, McCain urged compassion and said, "We are a Judeo-Christian nation."

He doesn't understand that the republican base has lost it. Denial is more like it. How could a man like McCain accept that his base has had a steady iq drop over the last few decades.

His constituents there have to deal with the illegals on a regular basis. I feel for any and all who live on the border states and the associated problems due to the illegals violating their properties and security.

#19 Spot on. The more the GOP struggles to keep the base, the more national elections they will lose.

Obama with the floundering economy, low job creation numbers and outrage over everyone being access to healthcare should have been an easy target. The RNC did not see that their failed policies are the policies of the aging anglo saxon base that is becoming the minority.

Recently they have shown some realization that their policies need to change to the 21st century and they are propping up their token minorities into the national spotlight, but once there, they sputter out the same old tired failed policies.

They just don't get it and they keep rationalizing why they lost.

No, you don't get it. There are those that want to save your sorry rearend for your future and you and others keep shooting themelves in the foot. Because of the failed policies of the left over the years and now there'll emerge a different America in 30 years and it won't be pretty. Yet it'll be a positive for some since there'll be smaller government (through financial necessity) but less chance of upward mobility and a lowered standard of living.

So vote him out. It's easy. He's been consistent on this; he's not going to change his mind. And I dare say he's right: a (challenging) path to citizenship rather than trying to deport millions. And get rid of the criminals (by which I do not mean people who are here illegally but are otherwise law-abiding), as Obama has been directing our agencies to do.

Indeed. But if there are enough, that's what they can do. If you don't like your leader, get rid of him. It's how the system works. Look at your current guy, and if he doesn't stand for what you stand for, vote against him.

The only reason liberals "care" about illegal aliens and immigrants is that they tend to vote democratic, especially when offer citizenship for breaking our laws and using our resources. Try illegal living in Mexico and see what happens, ain't gettin' no food stamps their.

BTW - Most Republicans don't hate illegals, that's just a stupid statement democrats use to fear monger. Democrats care about everyone and republicans care about no one, that's the narrative right?

The only problem is that no one human can actually care about more than few dozen people. But the democrats would have us believe that they love all nature, all people, all religions, all the time.....right.....bunch of horse manure.
