Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, February 20, 2013

During an online question-and-answer session on Facebook Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden offered this self-defense advice: Buy a shotgun, not an assault rifle. "We live in an area that's wooded and secluded," Biden said of the home he shares with his wife, Jill Biden. "I said, Jill, if there's ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here ... put that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house. I promise you whoever's coming in is not gonna. You don't need an AR-15 (assault rifle). It's harder to aim. It's harder to use and in fact you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself."

The suspect was identified as Ali Syed of Ladera Ranch. A motive for the shooting spree was not clear. Authorities said Syed had no criminal history. Police originally said he was armed with two long guns, but later said it appeared he only had one weapon, a shotgun.

Yea taking advice from him or any anti freedom politician is foolish. If he knew anything about firearms, he would know a rifle is a better home defense firearm than a shotgun. A rifle is a much more controllable platform then a shotgun and your less likely to over penetrate and kill or wound a family member unlike with a shotgun. His claims on a shotgun over a AR or AK rifle in the home, simply he is full of crap. The recoil on a rifle is a lot less then a shotgun for starters, so any family member can control it. A person has a lawsuit on every round that they send down range in a shooting and a shotgun has several per shell and you cant control them all. If you have to take on several preps a rifle is the way to go, you can also get frangible ammo for the rifle to help cut down even more on over penetration. Again another idiot liberal with zero clue on what they are talking about.

Yes - blowdry Joe is telling people that to get them to forget about the ARs and AKs for home defense or for anything else.. He wants them all to "go away"..
I say it because we still have the choice of weapons (but not for long) and I would take an 870 with a load of hi-base 6's for an "attitude adjuster" if anyone is dumb enough to break in.

He is not telling the truth he lives in the city and she can not do that its not legal.

#2 what he is saying is hat you should only have a gun that holds 2 shots and you should disarm yourself by firing them into the air.

#3 He is incorrect the AR15 is not harder to use and in fact you do need 30 rounds to protect yourself.

What he is doing is trying to fool the non gun owners into thinking he is talking about a machine gun. Thats why he says its hard to aim and hold.
However he knows this is incorrect its not a machine gun its just a hunting riffle painted black and has a stock so it looks like a army machine gun.

He doesn't care about the truth he wants women to be disarmed so his friends can rape them.

From my personal experience that is not true, robbers time and time again have been warned of a armed homeowner and a person just racking a shotgun or any gun for that matter does not scare these robbers. What does is a firearms that is being pointed at them and that shotgun unloads 00 buck into their gut will.

Uh, first you are going to need a FLANKER or FULCRUM to stick it on.

And why not a shotgun that IS a semi-automatic. Saiga makes one. If you're in the C Springs are, the big gun shop had one a few weeks ago. The birds wouldn't stand a chance. Neither would the burglars. Little small for a Griz though.

Shot shells will for sure penetrate several walls far easier then these ar or ak rifles will. It is not a big of issue if you live in the country, but in a home in a standard town you not only must know where your family is in relation to the target but if any other home is near by that your pellets will go through your home into a neighbors.

You cannot clear the room with one shot!!!!!!!!!!! Who ever told you that is full of crap. The shot stays together as long as it is in the wad which travels about 15 yards.

You are right, it will NOT go thru a steel wall of a ship (bulkhead) but it will go thru a sheetrock wall of a house. You can put your fist thru sheetrock.

Kim Rhode cemented her place as one of the most successful Olympians of all time this summer, and Winchester Ammunition is honoring that success by featuring her on a commemorative box of the company's AA target loads.
Placement on a Winchester box is an extremely rare honor -- only John Wayne, Teddy Roosevelt and Oliver F. Winchester have appeared on the company's products since the brand launched in 1866.

Love that website by the way, he has some very good articles I get a kick out of reading. I use a 5.45x39 round in my AK and the round does not over penetrate due to the round is designed to tumbles and breaks apart sooner when going through building material when compared to pistol round or shot. People need to remember every round that leaves a weapon is a law suit waiting to happen. So if a person uses a shot gun that is 9 pellets or more you have to make sure that dont exit your home and enter a neighbors home.

Simply the worst advice ever. Either he is an idiot or lying:

1. If there is danger outside - do not go outside, call 911 and stay inside.
2. If you have only have two shots - don't empty them into the air.
3. Never fire a gun up - what goes up must come down somewhere and on something.
4. A double barreled shotgun is last thing a small or inexperienced shooter should fire. They are unwieldy and they hurt. Recoil energy on a shotgun is 45 foot pounds while an AR15 is 3.9 foot pounds.
5. Training anyone on an AR is easier than a double barreled shotgun. Been there, done that, in the hundreds.

I already have a very nice Mossberg500A with a removed stock, double pistol grips, extended mag tube(holds 8 shells)and 6 more shells on a side saddle.

Anyone gun owner knows what he has said is really bad advice and could easily land you in jail. Responsible gun owners the general public does not.

pjmedia.com

In New Hampshire, Dallas Fleming was arrested for firing a warning shot into the ground. He has been charged with a felony count of reckless conduct. He faces up to seven years in prison for firing a single warning shot.

In New York, George Grier fired four warning shots into the ground as a group of up to 20 suspected MS-13 gang members gathered outside his home verbally threatened his family. He faces felony charges of reckless endangerment.

In Florida, Marissa Alexander has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for events that arose after she fired a warning shot into the wall.

The list of arrests and convictions goes on and on.

Following Vice President advice to fire warning shots will likely get you arrested on felony charges. Firing randomly -- Biden didn't even state the shots should be fired into a safe direction -- could get those charges upgraded to assault with a deadly weapon or possibly manslaughter if those shots fired into the air in the dark hits and kills an innocent victim like Rachel Yoder.

While this isn't as embarrasing as our previous V.P. shooting his friend in the face, it's close. While a shotgun loaded with small, light #7 or #8 birdshot can PROBABLY be safely fired into the air, as light weight shot will have a low terminal velocity on it's way back down to earth, it's still very, very irresponsible advice to give. He should really know better.
