Rep. David Dreier, one of California's most influential Republicans in Congress and the chairman of the House Rules Committee, announced Wednesday that he won't be running for re-election. The state's first-ever citizen-drawn political map put him into a politically inhospitable district. Dreier shared the news on the House floor, where he cited Congress' "abysmally low approval rating" and said, "The American people are asking for change in Congress."
