A former top Halliburton executive will serve two-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court to orchestrating a $180 million bribery scheme to secure $6 billion in natural gas deals in Nigeria, the Justice Department announced Thursday. Albert "Jack" Stanley is the former CEO of the Halliburton subsidiary KBR and was chosen to run the company in 1998 by Vice President Dick Cheney, who led Halliburton between 1996 and 2000. Cheney was not charged in the case, despite his leadership role at Halliburton as the scheme took place.

Nigerian officials announced in December 2010 Cheney would be charged criminally as part of an anti-corruption investigation into the bribes, but the charges were dropped after Halliburton paid a $35 million settlement related to the case.

There should be a federal investigation of why Cheney wasn't investigated.

would you task that to DOJ?
.. they're kinda up to their eyeballs shredding gun-smuggling docs, having been implicated in yet a 2nd ATF Agent's death ..
it's been frustrating for the American People that the investigation is proceeding so slow ..
but perhaps it will peak August-November

Outside of the developed world, bribery and kickbacks are commonplace. The foreign corrupt practices act was written to catch these type of weasels.

30 months at Club Fed is nothing for this scumbag and he will return as a hero for taking one for the team.

Here's hoping the scum gets AIDS in prison and dies a long horrible death. After spreading it around to all his male relatives and country club friendss, of course.

Cheney and Stanley should both be forced to take their chances in KBR-built showers.

There was a lengthy article a couple years ago listing things like that courtesy of KBR. It was a disgustingly long list.

Bribery in Nigeria is not quite as heinous as fucking your four year old daughter.

Africa is a shithole. Those who play there play by the rules. It is a rather harsh place.

Those who do not play by the rules at point are found in roadside ditches.

Been going on for a long time.

Tedious.

It is called Karma, fool. He deserves to be anally raped 37 time a day for the dead American soldiers that died for Haliburton profits in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Toss in another 12 rapes for directly contributing to the shit state our economy is in.

I hope his cell mates all had close relatives killed in some War for Profit the bastard enriched himself with.

We once paid a bribe to a young customs official in Malasia who seized a p1 shipment of bonding wire. Should my person be incarcerated...?

There seem to be a lot of persons here who think the world around their persons is how things work outside their sheltered suburbs.

People in general are nasty, cruel and corrupt animals that will kill you for a frigging baggage. Get used to this notion, as when the leftists collapse this economy... Mogadishu is going to look like friendly town.

Our structure is so vastly larger and more complex...

It shall be a fabulous thing to witness.

Idiots.

Mogadishu is almost a conservative's vision of paradise. Add one baby Jesus and it's their shining city on a hill.

So are kidnappings, torture and random murders.

Ain't you glad America hasn't become a free market paradise like that?

Axe...

Could you elaborate on your understanding of karma for us lesser beings.

Please also explain your exemption from such by your vile pollution of this position in the ether. That is my position this iteration. Hatred, especially random hatred directed without cause is not... beneficial to being.

It is my supposition that your person has not a clue about karma or the nature of the individual.

This is in no manner a personal attack, just a query.

So ng3 who do you suppose proposed the bribe? Bribes are demanded by the payor. I had a person involved in oil services describe to me how it's a way of life. He was a small one warehouse guy doing biz overseas. Companies would call him for parts, the order contingent upon graft. Wasn't his idea, ever.

Look at all the multi nationals named, rather, caught doing so. From food, to computers, to medicines, mostly eberything. Money makes the world go around. The French are famous, rather notorious for it.....Third world and fourth world countries?? How do you think Gaddafhi Arafrat saddam et all built their personal treasure chests??

Guess who got Obama’s no-bid contract
May 8, 2010 by Don Surber

President Obama has awarded a no-bid contract to KBR Inc. for $568 million.

Thatâs more than 20,000 times the maximum he set for a no-bid contract.

#21 | Posted by DavetheWave at 2012-02-25 06:02 PM | Reply | Flag:

Another scam is this. You bid a contract, and the buyer offers you a large sum of money deposited in a non traceable account in some 3rd country for more favorable terms. Takes a strong, honest man to decline such an offer.

I am not condoning nor supporting the practices in any way. To attribute this to a party shows how feeble minded the dr left is. Money talks, all parties, all languages!!

.... "Cheney was not charged in the case, despite his leadership role at Halliburton as the scheme took place..."

**** All that really needs to be said about the "ABSOLUTE CORRUPTION" of the US Judicial System!!!

What is that sound? It the sound of keyboards all over DR land clicking google / Obama / Halliburton / no bid contract, followed by the sound of little liberal brains exploding. It was Barry's fault!

#25 | Posted by paneocon at 2012-02-26 08:38 AM | Reply | Flag:

In the run-up to the invasion, one of the most senior officials in charge of procurement in the Pentagon objected to a contract potentially worth $7bn that was given to Halliburton, a Texan company which used to be run by Dick Cheney before he became vice-president.

Unusually only Halliburton got to bid - and won.

news.bbc.co.uk

So shitstain Cheney made sure that his buddies at Halliburton profited handsomely from the bullshit war Gannon's cum dumpster lied the US into. Typical Repugs.

And Obama continued with Bushs policies, awarding Hal. There largest no bid contract. Redlight and the Dr left....silent. as bho brakes yet another promise, the Dr left is aok with it. Just imagine how they'd react if it was under Bush. The Dr left as disengeuous and feeble as ever.
