" In 1989, the US postal service drew criticism from paleontologists for releasing a stamp with what obsolete genus name, which translates from Greek as "Thunder Lizard"?"

how does this question mean you are scientifically literate... maybe literate about the dorky world of stamp collecting.

54%, about as well as I did in Chemistry. Thank goodness there were some historical connections or I'd have been adrift on the Sea of Methane.

Wow, Doc...I didn't realize you got "a feeling" up your leg over "scientific heavy hitters" AND the Great Community Organizer. For clarification, however, don't you realize that nobody denies "climate change?" The world's climate has changed many, many times over the eons. We "deniers" just deny that man is the major factor. Perhaps the world is beginning to come to the realization that the religion of Global Warming and "Greenism" is a false religion. That's not to say that we deniers are opposed to cleaning up and protecting the Earth's environment, it's just that we don't want our little "progressive" pals forcing their extreme religion upon us and making everyone drive a Volt produced by Government Motors.

I don't. But I do find myself inclined to give additional weight to statements people who actually know something about a subject make about that subject.

That's why I'm all ears when you comment on motor oil viscosity, poaching - animals, not eggs - cuisine derived from spending endless hours pursuing small varmints - that's one you and your party's eventual nominee have in common - and place setting arrangements at NRA fried wildlife and bourbon-and-beer infused banquets.

Anyone think it's hilarious that LOD thinks I believe I'm a scientific heavy hitter because I posted my score? LOD, you're concluding that because my post followed Doc's post, it was a retort. That same failure to correctly recognize uncorrelated events is what has led the AGW crowd to ignore millenia of non-CO2 related climatic shifts in their zeal to blame humanity.

That is funny. I still remember my 7th grade History text author because the teacher, Mr. Burns (His name was actually Richard "Dick" Burns comically enough) would make sure we always remembered the name of the author, Burton F. Beers.

Hard to forget that name. I wish I'd kept in touch with more of my old teachers. Some of them were, in hindsight, a lot more interesting than I knew at the time.

Mr. Yowell, who had the authority to paddle students back then in the early '80s, once mistakenly thought I was talking in class and roared at me. I almost soiled myself in terror.

Then stop your bitchin about the economy. We've seen huge reductions in fossil fuel consumption.

When you kill the economy, that's what happens. Great plan. It worked.

Now why aren't you all proud of your feat?

Because, you know something, as soon as the economy improves, so will fuel consumption.

Even though you're likely gay as well, you can't have it both ways. The economy is YOURS.

April 1, 2009: The sunspot cycle is behaving a little like the stock market. Just when you think it has hit bottom, it goes even lower.

2008 was a bear. There were no sunspots observed on 266 of the year's 366 days (73%). To find a year with more blank suns, you have to go all the way back to 1913, which had 311 spotless days: plot. Prompted by these numbers, some observers suggested that the solar cycle had hit bottom in 2008.

Maybe not. Sunspot counts for 2009 have dropped even lower. As of March 31st, there were no sunspots on 78 of the year's 90 days (87%).

It adds up to one inescapable conclusion: "We're experiencing a very deep solar minimum," says solar physicist Dean Pesnell of the Goddard Space Flight Center.

"This is the quietest sun we've seen in almost a century," agrees sunspot expert David Hathaway of the Marshall Space Flight Center.

Something else that never fails?

ZAT posting other peoples work and ideas.

He has none.

'" In 1989, the US postal service drew criticism from paleontologists for releasing a stamp with what obsolete genus name, which translates from Greek as "Thunder Lizard"?"

how does this question mean you are scientifically literate... maybe literate about the dorky world of stamp collecting.'

It requires that you know that "Brontosaurus" is no longer a correct scientific term.

I was 5 for 5 on the test before I quit. Having to hit the Next button twice for every question was getting annoying.

You can see a full list of the questions, without having to take the test in my link to my results in #14.

Here is that link so you don't have to go back to #14 - www.csmonitor.com

Yeah, stupid Zat posting scientific studies and articles by experts in the field. I'd much rather read what retards like Bloodcrapifice feel about things they know next to nothing about.

Loading this quiz seamed like a bit of a pain in the ass so I refrained. I have no doubt that I would have aced it however given the fact that I would have done as I did in school....I would have cheated!

You lie.

The internet is quite full of studies and articles.

Yet; here you are. Reading my stuff instead.

"The time frame is short, but if future observations show that clouds are truly getting lower, it could have an important effect on global climate change. Clouds that are lower in the atmosphere would allow Earth to cool more efficiently, potentially offsetting some of the warming caused by greenhouse gases."

See, there lot's of stuff to post. The last time ZAT challenged a belief, it was over Santa Claus.

In sully's defense it took me almost 45 min to get to question 25. If you consider that I average about 10 seconds per question on most multiple choice tests I don't think it was ADD. Screwing around on the internet should take an hour tops and I wasn't planing on spending that whole hour on 1 test that wasn't even news related. That page had loading issues.

I was batting a .750 at the 20th question, so I held a consensus meeting with me, myself and I. At the meeting we all three agreed that it was sufficient proof that I was, indeed going to continue along the same path until the inevitable conclusion of the study. 75% it is.....

Happy Extinction!

~Youknowwhoyouare

In all seriousness, I did better than I thought I would but worse than I should have.

32/50 for 64%. Not horrible for "passing" my last two science classes in college with a C and a D...
