Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Because alcohol kills 2.5 million people annually -- more than AIDS, malaria or tuberculosis -- the World Health Organization should regulate alcohol at the global level, enforcing such regulations as a minimum drinking age, zero-tolerance drunken driving, and bans on unlimited drink specials, argues Devi Sridhar of the University of Oxford in a new commentary published by Nature. Americans drink 9.4 liters of ethyl alcohol per year on average -- equal to 94 bottles of 10 percent alcohol wine -- but aren't even in the top 50 of countries in alcoholic consumption. Moldava is first.

Okay, not prohibition, but a mandatory one-size-fits-all regulation of drinking which, like Obamacare, makes no distinction among people.

It's worked really well on tobacco and some foods. Why not alcohol this time.

I think that's a bit of an over-reaction but I would go along with making laws dealing with vehicular infractions made with an impaired BAC like other strict liability laws. And I think we need a way to make sure that officers more consistently and promptly administer sobriety tests.

Screw that! Why waste all that time and effort and money with your draconian bullshit that would only serve to turn the offender into a penniless social pariah. Deal with it right on the spot. Blow a .4 and you're done. Get on your knees for the bullet in the back of the head. Expedient, efficient, and above all, cheap. That'll serve notice to anyone and deter them from even smelling an open beer let alone swigging it down before getting behind the wheel.

Name a lib that supports this staffer from WHO. And then find a conservative who doesn't want to regulate all aspects of your life.

Don't always hit a home run but I almost always make it to third base.

And when I grow up, thanks to the R-tards in Virginia, I'm gonna be a Vagina Prober!

but .. but .. but .. we were told by the Left that global-overpopulation was a BIGGER THREAT than global warming ..

.. couldn't we just disband the W.H.O. and let natural selection play out?

~ perhaps those alkies who survived would strengthen their genetics & evolve into super-partiers ..
and thus become natural choices as our political-leaders, musicians, movie-stars, athletes, etc

.. just sayin'

The U.N. can't regulate anything. Does it do any of any use to good people? Show me.

Only a fool ever agrees to a field sobriety test. Make them arrest you and get the chemical downtown.

By the time you get screened, you might even be sober.

I would be satisfied if the alcohol and tobacco exemptions were removed from the controlled substances act. Why are they exempted anyways? What we need is a good Mormon president to get crackin' on this.

Gravity kills far more people than all other causes combined. We need to regulate peoples to exposure gravity imposed risks.

Never, ever just trust a street cop. Go downtown and get the chemical test.

Simply state your intents, then clam up and don't say shit.
