Jailbird Becomes Supreme Court Filing Expert

While Shon R. Hopwood was serving in a federal prison in Pekin, Ill., the former bank robber transformed himself into an accomplished Supreme Court practitioner -- getting two cases heard by the court and several others in lower courts. Regarding one filing, former U.S. solicitor general Seth Waxman said, "It was probably one of the best cert. petitions I have ever read."

man O' man wanna turn this into a IL sumbag style politics discussion? Cause I have quite a bit to say on the part of the primaries they just held!~

Lets take Scott Lee Cohen winning the nomination for Lt. GOV by actually out campaigning and out debating his opponent(and Democrat "Machine" canidate) Dan Hynes. Only to be leaned on heavly by the illustrious Sen. Durbin, and sevral of the parties more "powerfull"/Rich Chicago Democrat Machinists(who outright DESPISE anyone who lives south of Pontiac/Rockford.) to withdraw after being selected by THE VOTERS. I mean seriously this guy NEVER made a secret of being a well know pawnbroker who had been divorced; and the whole Police report that EVERYONE is NOW reporting has been public information since he started his campaign!!!!

And we could also talk about the same kinda shifty shit pulled by the Repubs in thier own Lt. GOV and Governor primaries as well. Its very telling when a canidate like Don Tracy and Brad Cole dont even make a showing in the polls at the end of election night.

FTA: Mr. Hopwood, who is 34, said he hoped to apply to law school next year. Richard Friedman, a law professor at the University of Michigan who worked with Mr. Hopwood on the briefs for a recent Supreme Court case, said that he had already talked to the admissions office there about saving a spot.

Most jailhouse lawyer stories you read tend to be about large numbers of nuisance suits being filed and cluttering up crowded court dockets so it was nice to read a more positive take fer a change here.

Read the article, a little more carefully. He's from Nebraska, and was in the Federal Penitentiary in Pekin Illinois.

As for the idiots who've criticized this guy, in earlier posts, aren't you the clowns who are always espousing personal responsibility?

This guy should be a poster boy for you.

He's done a good job of turning his life around, and he's helping others do the same.

Go to any open mic in America and you'll hear people that are miles better than that sociopath could have ever hoped to be. How that feral fuck and his merry band managed to escape execution is beyond me.

Mr. Hopwood makes a sincere effort to turn his life around in a positive way and yet still gets shit on by vapid meatbags like Dunce Buvia and Flacid Wanker Thom. A prime example of why there is a huge percentage of recidivism in our penal system.
