Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn) called on Friday for Senate Democrats to commit to passing amendments to its health care legislation through the process of reconciliation -- so that the House can then pass legislation of its own. "If we in the Senate pledge to fix those top priorities right away through reconciliation ... the House of Representatives should pass the Senate bill," he said. "The exact details of this process need to be worked out by the leadership and the president."

Give 'em hell, Al!

Exactly what the American people will be in if the Senate and House listen to Al.

process of reconciliation

I guess that is the same process called "the nuclear option" when the republicans had control of the senate.

Obama seems like too much of a coward to reconciliation. If he fails on this he can be damn sure his base will stay home. Even better is if the Dems get a primary challenger for him.

Yeah, it's the way they passed the tax cuts that gave us this booming economy.

Speaking of those tax cuts, how many jobs did you create with yours?

"Exactly what the American people will be in if the Senate and House listen to Al."

If that were true the Republicans would mysteriously end the filibuster. Once most American people have the details of the bill clearly explained to them they are in favor of it. This bill has not ever been clearly explained and if you read about United Health Care denying thousands of claims this morning in the NYT, there is plenty of ammunition to convince most Americans it is time for change. This is truely where the advantage of having Fox News clearly on one side of an issue does make things more difficult for our side but it still can be done, Barack Obama was elected president. Ed Schultz gets it, now if the rest of the liberal punditry would too we might get some movement. I think Al Franken is as liberal as any of us and if he thinks we should pass this then I would follow his lead if I were a Progressive Congressman or Senator.

Alarmist obstructionism as always...

I just know what doctors are going to do when a lot of the legislation goes into effect. Hint: you won't like it.

The good news is most of the "reform" in this bill won't take effect from 3-5 years. Plenty of time for it to be repealed should the Democrats mistakenly think this is a good idea.

there is plenty of ammunition to convince most Americans it is time for change.

LOL... because the American people haven't heard enough about Healthcare for the past year (not including the presidential campaign process)

This is truely where the advantage of having Fox News clearly on one side of an issue does make things more difficult for our side

Your side has MSNBC, its not my side's fault that nobody watches.

This bill has not ever been clearly explained

Now that we agree on. If it ever were, you and the majority of congress and Americans everywhere would be siding with the American College of Surgeons against this bill.

I hope so. I want this country to go hard left. If Obama can't do it then I want anybody that can. I'd even vote for Franken if I thought he could give me socialism.

Your point never seems to stay with him, though. It's as if he spits out every load of criticism you supply him with. I suggest you pimp-slap Vermin's punk ass and tell him to swallow like his mother does.

FF

Why does anyone listen to this jerk. Al Franken is a Big, Fat Liar! He hasn't been in Washington long enough to know where the bathrooms are in his office building. Whatever happened to the days when freshmen congressman waited at least one session before they started lecturing all those who would listen.

Maybe you could go into greater detail with this fantasy? Names would be a good start.

If you have a hard-on for marxist leader... why destroy this country? Can't you find a successful marxist country and move there?

Oh... there are no successful marxist countries?

Don't worry, I am sure you can build one MUCH better than all those failed ones... ya know, those countries that killed millions of their own citizens...

Thanks Rob, for bringing up the only relevant point on this thread.

If you look at the other socialized health care systems in the world, they all have one distinguishing characteristic. Doctors have set fees, as befitting any civil servant. (In England about 100k). Next time you talk to your doctor, ask him how he would fare on that pay.

"If you look at the other socialized health care systems in the world, they all have one distinguishing characteristic."

A characteristic shared by American doctors paid by health insurance companies. One characteristic not shared is the denial of claims. There are other negative characteristics also not shared. Perhaps the most important would be the percentage of our GDP compared to the percentage of other nation's GDP that it costs to supply health care to the people. The more you know about the American health care system the more you learn to hate it and the greedy profiteers who pay lobbyists to keep it in place.

America already has socialized health care, seniors, poor, veterans and convicts.

people are so dumb

That's not a great selling point for Obamacare.

A characteristic shared by American doctors paid by health insurance companies.

uh, no... Doctors right now are making what they should be for the time, training and money it takes to become a doctor.

Under this plan, they'll start seeing their wages decrease (particularly the Specialists), and I'm betting that will increase over time since its the easiest way to cut costs. Just stop paying the people who provide it.

And when that happens, the best doctors will begin telling their patients they no longer accept any insurance. While the doctors with poorer training and less skills will still accept it to make a living. This will lead to a two tier system where only the rich can afford to see good doctors and everyone else will be stuck with poor care.

This Democrat Congress and administration just keep telling the American people "Up Your Noses With A Rubber Hose" . . . We are going to do whatever the hell we want, no matter how it harms you individually or the country as a whole.

It should be enlightening to see elitist arrogance on display, as if the American people don't have the intellect and ability to run their own lives. I -- and most Americans -- would not let one Democrat politican Near our Personal Checkbooks.

How interesting this is from the so-called party of the 'Little People'. It is quite evident the Democrats could care less about the little people and hold the 'little people' -- to them, the unwashed masses -- in complete and absolute contempt.

hmmm don't get out much do you WOB?

It is already happening.

Mayo Clinic in Arizona to Stop Treating Some Medicare Patients

I live in a rural area. It is almost impossible to get a good doctor that accepts my FEHB (so called Cadillac) Insurance. If I was to change doctors right now it could be six months before I could be seen.

Our Health Care system is broken Wobby. Keep dishing out the bullshit though. It seems to work on them there Teabaggers. They eat it up!

Wonder what he walked away from Air America with then.....

hmmm don't get out much do you WOB?

On some level yes it is happening. Back in Philly one of the better ortho groups only took cash. But for the most part today that is the exception not the rule. Sure typically only the super rich athletes are going to see James Andrews down in Alabama, but there are plenty of surgeons trained by him that anyone can go see. That will begin to change if Obama gets his wish, because Obamacare fucks with the pay of surgeons. So yeah, in some cases the two tier system exists but currently there are enough doctors not taking cash only to balance out.

Our Health Care system is broken Wobby.

No, it isn't. There are areas that should be improved like getting access for the poor and taking them from the ERs, pre-existing condition clauses, and healthcare caps along with tort reform.

But while this bill addresses some of those, it also does a lot of terrible stuff that Americans will regret.

***"I live in a rural area. It is almost impossible to get a good doctor that accepts my FEHB (so called Cadillac) Insurance. If I was to change doctors right now it could be six months before I could be seen."***

Six months before you would be seen? Won't take your insurance? Really? Why?

From what I have heard (and, no, I have never lived in Canada) but a 6 month waiting list to see a new doctor would be a DREAM COME TRUE...

[I can't remember what news program took a hidden camera to hospitals in Canada... and was routinely told if you didn't have a doctor that you would be assigned one... in 18+ months.]
