That was a rare occasion where American troops were out exposed in public on a public-relations exercise.
If it had been about anything else, they would take that opportunity too.
No doubt. Not arguing that the soldiers weren't the primary objective here just pointing out that in the absence of US troops these Taliban asswipes have a tendency to blow up schools fer girls anyways. That fact making this opportunity well neigh irresistable.
Since we know exactly who these people are supported by (India and Karzai), we can quit pretending they are some kind of angry-shmangry muslims with grievances.
Yes, it serves their interests further that the school went down too.... a "two-for" like you said. However, it actually a game for them, not a matter of religious conviction.
All the back and forthing between Pak and India boils down to religious convictions and rivalries at the end of the day.
Not sure how you are seeing Indian involvement in the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan. Spud always saw them as an umbrella organization for tribesmen from the 7 tribes in FATA who are opposed to both the Pakistani governments attempts to control "their" land and the American occupation in Afghanistan.
And Spud, please watch this.

This is a very dangerous game. Somebody is going to get hurt badly because of this and it won't be Pak or US.
That India is currently engaged in dangerous cat and mouse/ cloak and dagger operations in Afghanistan aimed at trying to gain influence over Karsick the Korrupt is not in doubt.
They see Pakistani influence over the region growing and naturally they wanna put the screws to the notion if they can.
I don't know what America sees in this worm?
He promises them security and stability (that he can't provide) for the pipeline projects and his connection to the Druglords in Hellmond province and elsewhere assure the CIA a healthy cut of the profits of that business.
Plus he plays well on western teevee.
Since those are the only things the realpolitik types at the Pentagon seem to care about they more than suffice to ensure that the "Mayor of Kabul" will keep getting supported no matter wot.
It'll end in tears, of course.
Be Well.
