US Military Wrestles with Closeted Gay Afghans

A new U.S. military research report obtained by Fox News suggests a region of Afghanistan is coping with a sexual identity crisis. The report about details how homosexual behavior is unusually common among men in the large ethnic group known as Pashtuns -- though they seem to be in complete denial about it. The study found that Pashtun men commonly have sex with other men, admire other men physically, have sexual relationships with boys and shun women both socially and sexually -- yet completely reject the label of "homosexual."

This isn't limited to the Pashtun, though it sounds as if it's more pronounced among them. The attitude is fairly common in the Arab and Persian world. And they will every single one of them deny to the death that they have any homosexual tendencies.

Though Pakistani intelligence had reported... and the CIA had confirmed.. that many of the donkeys we were sending for ferrying heavy guns into Afghanistan (during Afghan-Soviet war), were getting sexually abused... by people. LOL

Also an Afghan once tried to rape a kid whose family we knew. Kid shot and killed the guy but was sent to jail.

There is also the documented fact that long-haul truckers are the ones most responsible for spreading AIDS in India.

Most of them are into homosexual activities and they often do it with the assistant driver/loader who sleeps on top of the truck. (so it's not just Afghans)

We suspect truckers are the same everywhere (including Pakistan).

Ummm, guys @ DR I'ld like to tell you folks that the prevalence of "homosexual tendencies" as y'all politely called them, is ancient news amongst the neighbouring ethnicities of Southern Afghanistan. And when I say ancient news, I mean Alexander the Great ancient. The Tajiks, Uzbeks, Punjabi's, Sindhi's (Don't know about the Balochis) noticed this right uptil Delhi and maybe even points East.

What saddens me is that the Americans are making it official by posting it in newspapers now, like 9 years after occupying Afghanistan late. Y'all waited till an official government team went in and checked rather than just reading up on the area, or believing your own eyes rather than waiting for top down confirmation or asking questions of those in and around Afghanistan.

It's not the behaviour amongst Afghans that saddens me, it's that our American friends just noted it now.

The guys who operate in the Waziristan also had the once-a-week thing going. An American journalist was told in either Tunk, Miranshah or Wana not to go out on a certain night, because he was blonde and blondes were at a "premium".

I've been posting here for years (it's be 4 years in May). BTW, this item was mailed to me by someone who spent most of his career working in various intelligence organizations located in and around the D.C. area.

And for the record, if your reference to the 'Durand Line' was meant to imply something to do with Cadillac's, sorry wrong CAD. My reference is to CAD, as in Computer Aided Design. 33 years and still going strong.

For me personally, I simply don't understand the utilitarianism of being gay or having sex with another male. The parts don't fit.

Even a cursory examination by even the most casual observor can tell that a woman has part V receptacle which snugly accepts my part P plug. Part P plug is not made to fit Part A hole. A hole is for exhaust only.

However, Part P plug will fit into just about any part M, so I guess there's some wiggle room in that respect.

Actually, the Pashtun territory has served as a nesting spot for Indo-Iranians, Iranian peoples, Indo-Aryans, Medes, Achaemenids, Mauryas, Scythians, Kushans, Hephthalites, Greeks, Arabs, Turks, and Mongols, so their pedigree is a bit murky. As for their language, it's in the same family as Greek but the same subdivision as Farsi.

However, according to a historian who specialized in this area, Pathans are mostly "White Hun".

Pashtun, Farsi, Greek (and English) are all Indo-European languages.
Pashtun and Farsi are in the Indo-Iranian sub-group, whereas English is Germanic and Greek is Hellenic.

There is a linguistic theory, however, that proposes the Indo-Iranian and Hellenic branches coming from a coming source.

There is actually some genetic data that suggests this as a possibility. Not that Pashtuns are Greeks, but that there is a Greek genetic element. Way way back when, of course, but apparently there are some gene markers in common.

I don't know of a tradition of Jews being that far east that predates the kingdom of Saul/David/Solomon, although that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Of course, the OT has Abraham coming from Ur of the Chaldees, which may have been the Sumerian city of Ur, now in southern Iraq. On the other hand, Ur may have been in SE Turkey, which is where Islamic tradition and certain Jewish authors place it.

Obviously Abraham had ancestors and other family members older than him, and who knows where they and their descendants ended up. They'd still have similar genetic markers.

And cultural data... they behave the same. Same values and traditions, more or less.

Also language similarities.

Peshawer was Alexander's favorite city, it's been written. And Greeks were known for spreading their genes around... as were the mongols (they were in a league all their own when it comes to spreading genes).

Conventional belief places the Pathans in the middle of Mongol-types and Greeks. Some identify themselves as totally Greek (for example people in Baltistan) and some don't care.

For example a Greek engineer was recently kidnapped in Afghanistan. Some Pathans from Pakistan got together and negotiated for his release just because he was Greek.
