Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

China has seen the future and is making an attempt to corner the "clean energy" market. "These efforts to dominate renewable energy technologies raise the prospect that the West may someday trade its dependence on oil from the Mideast for a reliance on solar panels, wind turbines and other gear manufactured in China."

Again, this isn't about climate change, it is about reducing our reliance on foreign oil. But instead of paying the ME for oil we will end up paying China for turbines and photovoltaic cells. All due to bickering amongst our politicians rather than incentivizing the industry.

Once again the chicoms are going to kick our ass.

Another proud American moment.

China's top leaders are intensely focused on energy policy: on Wednesday, the government announced the creation of a National Energy Commission composed of cabinet ministers as a "superministry" led by Prime Minister Wen Jiabao himself.

And what do we get from our "leaders"?.... drill baby drill.

And just exactly which of todays leaders said that, Jimbo?

Doesn't matter who said it A1st it represents the mentality of almost all of our elected officials.

Fact is Japan did it too us (with our help rebuilding post WW2) and now the Chinese are doing it, why is it that they get it and we don't. If you have a rapidly emerging market a bit of a nudge from the government can kick start innovation. Instead we leave it to entrenched business and they mythos of the basement inventor.

In fact we do it back ass wards and continue to give incentives to the horse and buggy industry. If your not going to help build an emerging industry can we at least not help the horse and buggy industry?

Talk about revisionist history.

We still need to provide incentives to oil and gas companies as naturual gas is a great resource for peak load times. And renewable energy isn't a great source of energy as it is unreliable and inefficient at this point. However, that doesn't mean that we should not be incentivizing the renewable industry. Morevoer, why should we sit on the sidelines and let the rest of the world cash in?

"And just exactly which of todays leaders said that, Jimbo?"

I believe that would be Michael Steele followed by Sarah Palin and John McCain.
