Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Obama administration is considering to review the legality of the Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah). "The administration shares your belief that the current lack of a college football national championship playoff with respect to the highest division of college football ... raises important questions affecting millions of fans, colleges and universities, players and other interested parties," Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote.

"Obama to Concentrate on More Vital Issues After SOTU Speech"

Like attending the Duke and Georgetown game. Too cold for golf in DC. Hey maybe can catch a flight to some tropical island.

Apparently there might be some anti-trust issues here, but where do you think the BCS falls on the nation's priority list?

Is this a "feel good" agenda item? Methinks very few people want the feds poking their nose into this issue.

Anyone agree or disagree?

The baseball steroids thing, BCS, sports in general is just a waste of time for our Congress, or D.C as a whole to be messed with.

where do you think the BCS falls on the nation's priority list?

Pretty far down the list. It's like they keep trying to cram 10 lbs of bullshit into a 5 lb bucket..it keeps spilling out, no matter what they do.

Anyone agree or disagree?

Why didn't you make a poll out of this thread?

While the issue isn't a high priority for the nation, I think most people favor reform of
the college football playoffs. Maybe it's something we can have some easy bipartisanship on, but I doubt it.

I'd be surprised if you can you think of an issue that you would want the feds poking their nose into.

I would prefer it if they could just flip a switch and make the change but instead there will be many wasted hours of deliberation. Time that could be better spent elsewhere.

Obama...'tackling' the important issues of the day...right after he gets in a round of golf and maybe take in a basketball game.

Like college football playoffs!

this is why he will not be re-elected. Priorities are all screwed up.

Obama Admin May Tackle BCS Playoffs

Are you shitting me?????????

Unbelievable........

Another continuing example of lack of qualifications for leadership... like a kid trying to 'suck up' to a certain segment to gain some popularity points.. this guy wants to be a solid 'dictator', not a president of a free republic.. again, like a 'deer in the headlights' or a 'post turtle', whichever you prefer...!!!

At this rate, Palin WILL be qualified.

The Obama administration has managed to fuck up the banks, the auto industry, the economy, and the health care industry. Why shouldn't they give a try at fucking up college football too?

I think most people favor reform of
the college football playoffs.

Instead, how about they concentrate on college reformation in order to lower tuition costs--and I'm not talking about the recent suggestion he came up with either which doesn't deal with the structural issues of costs.

Sports are a big part of our country's culture, like it or not. Of course, they're not as important as having a job and healthcare so that you can buy food and not die.

"Anyone agree or disagree?"

Should the BCS be changed?
Agree. Strongly.

Should it come anywhere near the Oval Office?
Disagree. Strongly.

Not sure about the anti-trust issues, and that may be something the AG's office needs to look at, but your implied suggestion that it shouldn't be on the nation's priority list is correct.

President Buttinski knows no bounds when it comes to sticking his nose into something that has a whiff of voter appeal attached to it! This guy should forget trying to get his name in the paper in every section (including the Sports and Amusement) and instead try to figure out where some of the trillions he's spending is going!

That is way more important than the economy.

Hope he can next tackle the the pending dispute that little Jimmy was called out at third when he was clearly safe!

Would somebody please give our Prez back his shovel and bucket so he can get back into the sandbox where he belongs!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
. I wanna fix football!!! It's broke and I know what is best for the nation. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

How did he ever get elected??? it sure wasn't on his great iedas.

Uh, yeah. Football is waaaay more important than say, fixing the economy!

I think the politicians see how much money surrounds college football (advertising, etc) and now they want a piece of the action.

McCain was the one who suspended his campaign to deal with a single issue. Obama can do a lot more than one thing at a time. Thank your lucky stars McCain and his waiting-in-the-wings buffoon VP candidate didn't get near 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. The only people who would have benefited would have been soup and hemlock manufacturers.

For the record, let's keep in mind, the administration MAY tackle it.

Senator Hatch (R), can take credit for getting this ball rolling.

I seriously don't see the president spending too much time mulling this over in the Oval.

If it comes from anywhere, it'll be the AG's office, and not the AG himself.
And I'm not sure how the AG's office fixes the economy in any case.

Nonetheless, barring some glaring anti-trust issues, I'd rather this not be given serious consideration until other more important issues are tackled.

This will help get Americans working again. If there are more college games, we'll need hundreds more people to hawk popcorn and programs.

Where was your outrage when the Republican Congress was opening investigations into whether some dipshit baseball players took steroids, all while the economy was falling apart all around them?

Seems we have a bunch of hypocrites here.

COMMONSENSE

RightIsRight is schizophrenic. should be RightAndRight When a Pubbie is in office everything is 180. Deficits and borrowing were good things to be doing, etc.

Obama could have resolved this already. He could have invited Alabama and Boise State to the White House on the same day and had a real national championship. Alabama barely beat a Texas team without Colt McCoy. Pull the Heiman winner off Alabama how do they do. Boise State could have beat them

If W still has his cheerleading outfit no doubt which side's bench he'd be placed on in an Alabama vs Boise game:

www.memphisflyer.com

I had a friend who was a cheerleader at Bc and he naile quite a few hot cheerleaders that half the basketball team was trying to bang

Obviously looking for anything to be a success for this administration...and picking the wrong thing to focus on again.

The winner of the season should be based on number of points scored.

This way, those blowout games become even more enjoyable.

Bury your opponent? Damn right!

Are our representatives really going to waste our time on this like they did with steroids hearings a few years back?

Lame.

I heard that Obama wants Congress to look into the voter fraud on American Idol. Top priority!!!

+2, BPH320

I hear Dancing with the Stars may be under investigation next....

I guess its better that our government go on a boondoggle like that rather than screw something up that is important.

Is it possible to give him ANOTHER nobel piece prize? The man is clearly in a league of his own. You dipsharts who voted for him must be glowing. I bet you were all warm and fuzzy after his speech the other night. I know that you want to love and believe this man so badly that you are willing to take another chance on him, but please....let common sense creep into your brain and tell you that this man is no leader, and certainly not presidential material.

Are there a couple of retards in this thread making lame deflections?
