Virginia School Pulls 'Diary Of Ann Frank'

Culpeper County Public Schools in Virginia has pulled Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl: The Definitive Edition off library shelves because parents complained about the "sexual nature of the vagina passage in the definitive edition." This edition of the book restores numerous passages removed at the direction of Anne Frank's father Otto, the only survivor, that included criticism of her mother and other Jews living in the confined quarters and some sexually suggestive references.

This isn't a new book, they just figured out they didn't like parts of it now? WTF? I don't remember a vagina pasage in Anne Franks Diary. Strange. I am sure I would have remembered it had I read it HS.

I know teachers and administrators get really excited when you talk about cutting pay and benefits. You can always count on teachers unions to show up in force if some Congressman considers cutting the education budget. Would it have been too much trouble to expect one of them to stand up and say, hey, this is crazy?

According to Amazon.com, "Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl," tops the list of commonly banned children's books in public schools nationwide.

The reason listed for banning this book is "for being too depressing for students." Other books that made the Amazon list include "The Catcher in the Rye," "Harry Potter," "Of Mice and Men," and "Harriet the Spy," to name a few.

Yeah, they probably still have the super secret puberty talks where the school nurse takes the girls to the library and scares the hell out of them with belted maxi pads and the football coach takes the boys into the locker room and tells them about the clap and the only actual "sex ed" they teach is the bird and the bees (literally) and then only to seniors with permission slips from their shockingly liberal parents.

My son is in 7th grade and from what little information I get from him these days, I would wager that 1/3 of his friends are already sexually active--and he's a self professed geek. What the fuck do they think they are protecting their kids from? I'm just stunned at the idiocy of some people.

The schools can pass out rubbers with approval by the leftists but you can't have students read a book with the word, "vagina?" We aren't quite L.A., but you can surf a half a day's drive away and ski 2+ hours away in the winter. Most days are good fishin' days locally. This kind of snow is a rare thing, but fun as hell! I've been watching it snow all night. For someone who doesn't see it often at my house it's a rare treat.

Blackcomb/Whistler will be fine but some of the other venues on the lower altitude local mountains particularly Cypruss, Grouse, and Hemlock might need to get moved at the last minute.

I fell down laughing at my dog trying to 'fetch' snowballs though - his ears at full mast and a quizzical look on his scrunched up face as he furiously tried to find the 'ball' in the snow.
