Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The German newspaper Spiegel reports, "US President Barack Obama suffered a painful defeat in Massachusetts on Tuesday. With mid-term elections looming, it means that Obama will have to fundamentally re-think his political course. German commentators say it is the end of hope." One German paper's pessimistic take: "Bid farewell to a candidate for whom the hopes were so high."

The end of Hope!??!

The end of Hope!??!

Now this Hopey/Changy thingy is beginning to make sense. People who want Obama to succeed want America to DIE!

#1 | Posted by Eddie

Pretty much the case. People who want the messiah to succeed are usually the ones who want a "Nanny" state because they are unable/unwilling to do what it takes to take care of yourself.

Remember 1994? Of course not, you're too young. Look it up.

It's a shame to watch these poor people finally understand what we've been trying to tell them for the last 1 1/2 years...

Change we can believe in...

LOL!!!!

"It comes from Germany, and hey, we all know those Germans make good stuff."

Too bad most of us remember his pale mentor, Jimmy Carter.

Obama had a vision of extending healthcare to the less fortunate who weren't getting it before. What he didn't realize was that republicans don't give a fuck about them and never will.

Jackass, as much as I hate to say, move to Wisconsin. We provide losers like you with a program called "BadgerCare". It's more P.C. than Welfare.

Funny Wisgod. I'm not currently on welfare. Luckily I am employed. I'm thinking of the 47 million Americans that need insurance but don't have it. I am one of the lucky ones that works at a decent job where benefits are provided. Many people are not so lucky. I want those people to get the same benefits I have.

I want those people to get the same benefits I have.

#10 | Posted by jackass

Then you need to help figure out a way to seperate those here illegally from those in truly in need. The problem with the Democrats is they put them all in the same bucket.

#10 | Posted by jackass

Who is going to pay for this?

If you actually believe that 47M number you have been drinking to much kool-aid or danni's bong water.

I like how you blame it on every Republican, 100% of them. I am quite sure 100% of Democrats are in favor of the health bill.

#10 | Posted by jackass

Who is going to pay for this?

#12 | Posted by chickenrancher

You and me and every other person who can afford to.

Obama had a vision of extending healthcare to the less fortunate who weren't getting it before. What he didn't realize was that republicans don't give a fuck about them and never will.

#8 | Posted by jackass

Your name is appropriate! LOL!!!

The "40 million" are mostly made up of people who CAN buy health insurance and Won't buy it because they think it should be free.

They will buy a new car, live in a house that's too big, buy a boat, take a trip to Disney World,

but will NOT buy health insurance for their kids!

We call these people deadbeats!

And you want to use them in your stupid political argument. You really are a jackass!!! You fucking idiot.

Another large percentage are people who can't afford it and are eligible for Medicare but don't know how to get it. We need to direct them to it!

Only a few million can't afford Health Insuarnce because they are too rich for Medicare and have a preexisting condition.

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO HELP!!!! YOU STUPID FUCKING JACKASS!!!!!

The Republicans have tried to get the Democrats to listen about forcing the states to take care of these people, but they would not.

NOW THEY WILL HAVE TOO!!!!

ObamaCare is so fucking dead.

I'm thinking of the 47 million Americans that need insurance but don't have it. I am one of the lucky ones that works at a decent job where benefits are provided. Many people are not so lucky. I want those people to get the same benefits I have.

#10 | Posted by jackass

Tell me Jackass. If you didn't have that job or you decided to work for yourself, would you buy health insurance for yourself?

I want those people to get the same benefits I have.

#10 | Posted by jackass

Where does this entitlement attitude come from?

You and me and every other person who can afford to.

#13 | Posted by jackass

Like I said before. There are millions on welfare and using Medicare.

It's already there.

But covering 40 million people who WON'T buy insurance because they have this entitlement attitude? I don't think so...

They will have to pay for it dude. Just like they pay for their new car and new boat. Sorry, but thems the facts of life.

You are not going to get hard working folk like me to pay for deadbeats.

Breakdown of the 47 million figure....

www.washingtonexaminer.com

I'm with you JACK, there are not 47M without healthcare. Some are paying there own way, some are ILLEGAL, and about 12-14M that can't actually afford it. Obama could've paid all of their healthcare and it would have been WAY CHEAPER than this reform bill.

#13 | Posted by jackass

Why should I pay for healthcare for people who are to lazy, to stupid, illegal, etc?

I should not have to just because it makes you and some others feel good.

"But covering 40 million people who WON'T buy insurance because they have this entitlement attitude? I don't think so..."

Your numeric assertion is just as incorrect as Jackass's, maybe more so. Suppositions abound.

That's right. They lie to themselves and then lie to us.

And then call us names when we don't accept their lies!

Well, thank Gd it's the beginning of the end of this debacle.

Now all we need to do is to reverse the other debacle that these idiots passes last year before they print that money and give it to their cronies sending the value of the dollar even lower.

Your numeric assertion is just as incorrect as Jackass's, maybe more so. Suppositions abound.

#21 | Posted by pragmatist

Now since I'm right you're going to start picking at the math?

ok, ok, 47 million (which Obama lowered to 30 million)

LOL!!!!!!!!!

Obama: I used to say 47 million uninsured. Now, it's 30 million ...

#21 | Posted by pragmatist

people are laughing at you and you don't know it.

I don't care who laughs at me, especially on fuckin' DR, Ed. Laugh all you want. Laughter is, after all, the best medicine.

But you missed my point, pal. You asserted that 40 MILLION can afford to buy but won't because of an entitlement attitude. That's simply absurd. I am happy to grant (I've seen some numbers not loaded with your sense of rhetoric and hyperbole) that the 47 million number is wrong, but you just flipped it. I've been one of those unable-to-afford people, and I know many others who have been there, too, and it has nothing to do with a sense of entitlement. But then, you probably think that anyone who is on welfare is there because they want to be.

But you missed my point, pal. You asserted that 40 MILLION can afford to buy but won't because of an entitlement attitude.
#25 | Posted by pragmatist

Wrong. If you go back and read, you will see that I "assert" and I back it up with links that most of the [47] million have an entitlement attitude.

8 million people needing health insurance is doable

47 million (the big lie) is not!

See the difference?

Like I said before. There are millions on welfare and using Medicare.

#17 | Posted by Eddie

Medicaid.

But then, you probably think that anyone who is on welfare is there because they want to be.

This statement is WHY the Libs are losing. You think that Conservatives are greedy and don't give a crap about the community. You confuse the issue with bloated numbers and false claims and then call us names (like racist) and "Assert" that we are not compassionate for others when we don't agree with you.

YOU ARE WRONG! And it is showing up in most of the elections since Nov 08.

In spite of what you and Ed Shultz think, Conservatives are companionate and "give" more than Liberals do... Why? It's simple. We have more to give. Why? Because we hard working, smart, and don't give in to the lies.

I can tell by your post that you feel strongly about what you think about me because I am Conservative. That is ignorant and arrogant--the basic traits of a Redneck!

Get smart, dude.

Me too. You know what I did? I raised my deductible and had to negotiate with doctors.

I found that this "opting out" of the 100% covered or the co-pay environment was enlightening. You should try it. I am healthier because I was forced to do my own research on my health, asked the more intelligent questions of the providers and have a much better outcome.

Bottom line -- I am responsible for my level of health. Not the Provider and especially NOT THE GOVERNMENT!

"That is ignorant and arrogant--the basic traits of a Redneck!"

EDDIE! This Appalachian-American, or maybe you think "redneck," is offended by that "ignorant and arrogant" label. Most "rednecks" work hard, love America and are patriotic, respect the flag, and love mom and apple pie. If you're referring to those folks in Detroit, Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, L.A., and San Francisco, THEY aren't rednecks.

"But then, you probably think that anyone who is on welfare is there because they want to be."

C'mon, Prag. There ARE folks deserving of public assistance through no fault of their own, but you have to admit that there are MILLIONS who DO want to be on welfare. The pity of it is that the folks deserving of assistance have to live on peanuts because the undeserving are consuming so much of the benefits that it hurts the deserving individuals most. Who generates the number of uninsured, how is it derived. Is is the same folks who track zip codes for the economic recovery fiasco? Probably so.

You're right. There are people who proudly call themselves Rednecks and I respect them for the same reasons. Even though I grew up in Louisiana (East Baton Rouge) and that's a Redneck as you get in Louisiana, I am not a Redneck, but have many in my family who are as you describe. I also label this class of people as Americans.

However, I am assuming Pragmatist's point of view and what he thinks of White America and threw it back in his face -- simply, "asserting" he is a hypocrite.

Was that a brain fart, 726?

It's funny to see 726 making fun of Palin as if the attack by the media has had any negative effect other than making Liberals appear as desperate fools.

It's so pathetic, that they don't realize how stupid they look when they repeat that same lies and exaggerations about Palin over and over again!

This is how they won the election in Nov '08.

But, thank Gd America has completely rejected the evil of the far left influenced media and we are getting our country back.

BTW, since Palin was brought in, this thread is hijacked.

It's like saying "you are a racist"

Argument is hijacked and turns into bikering.

"But, thank Gd America has completely rejected the evil of the far left influenced media and we are getting our country back."

One Senate seat, not even a full term, against a woman who ran a terrible campaign and you interpret this as a complete repudiation of the Democratic agenda. Hilarious.
The Dems still hold strong majorities in both houses and the presidency.

But Danni, they did so poorly so far. They are unable to accomplish anything positive -- probably is they had the correct agenda, they'd be more productive.

Here's the problem with the Dems. They actually believe that Americans want their far-left agenda. They do not.

I believe you are in denial, Danni.

Moving dysfunctional Corporatism to the Federal government is not the answer. Breaking up monopolies and giving control back to Americans is what Americans want.

Americans want jobs! They don't want this goofy Stimulas Package. Excuse me, Danni, but What the fuck was that piece of shit legislation?

Americans want a great health care system. We are sick of the Corporate style of for-profit providers. I want Doctors to make huge paychecks, not the administrators and Insurance executives.

What Obama wants to do is take the dysfunction of the Corporate-run health care and move that to the Federal Government. No! No fucking way this will ever happen!!

One election? Yes. It signals the turning point.

Now, if Obama moves toward the Center, is another complicated story by itself.

726,

It is indisputable that the overall global view of the US has increased under Obama.

Serious kudos to Obama.

Having said that, he wasn't elected to make the rest of the world like us. He was elected to forward the interests of this nation.

Please point out where we have benefited as a nation.

Please point out where his rhetoric has truly paid dividends internationally.

Wow! So many RNC talking points in one post! Garsh you sure showed me.

When you ass is being kicked, you bring up Palin lies or call me a racist or say it's a talking point.

LOL, what an idiot you are 726?

Say something smart or go away.

"Appalachian-American" That should be on the census form... we can have our own "group", then the liberals will care about us, include us in their liberal games.

Randolph the red neck voter
Had a very rosy neck
and if you ever saw it
you would say "what the heck"
All of the liberal voters
Used to laugh and call him names
...
Then one sordid census eve
the chairman came to say
"Randolph with your neck so bright
You're an Appo-American, Right?"
Then all the liberals loved him
As they shouted out with glee:
"Randolph the redneck voter,
You're a victim just like me!!!!!"

I see them coming back toward the center. They tried in the first year of the current administration, but I suspect that Obama will be moving toward the center and will be re-elected in 2012. If he does not he will lose. In fact, if an election were held today, he'd lose, in my opinion.

#44 Danni> The Dems still hold strong majorities in both houses and the presidency.

Then why haven't they passed the got-to-have-it-quickly healthcare reform legislation that Obama campaigned on? Even with lots of arm twisting and financial bribes (to DEMOCRATS), they faced more opposition as 2009 wound down to a close. You sure can't blame all of it on Republicans (not honestly, anyway).

Back on topic: some other G12 partners are finally waking up to the smoke-and-mirrors that Obama represents.

"he could back away from his strategy of bipartisanship ... which would mean giving up much of what he spent his first year in office creating."

Once I got to this sentence you know right away that the author is a typical "journalist" that does not have a CLUE as to what he is talking about.

"Back away from is Bipatisanship" What biparisanship? The Republicans were completely froze out. Never happened with the DEMS when the Republicans held office...and any slight was echoed through the media with a massive CALL FOR BIPARTENSHIP - do you see that echoed in the media today?

The second piece. "which would mean giving up much of what he spent his first year in office creating."

WHAT has he created except 1) Complete chaos in the financial systems - who is going to get taxed or regulated next? What will the new rules be? Who will they take over next? How did the GOVERNMENT get the ability to dictate taking OWNERSHIP of these companies - historically the government would lend money - but NEVER ownership.

2) A wholly unsafe environment that coddles terriorists - exposing us a weak overseas and endangering our lives

3) Massive unemployment - 10% and climbing!

4) Massive deficits 1.4TRILLION! in one year

5) Political radical hacks in positions of power.

6) Political appointees that have one criminal charge on them after another.

7) TOTAL disregard for the will of the people.

This whole article respresents the European socialist mindset.

A lot of people in this country, excluding the illegals, CHOOSE to not buy health insurance becasue they just do not want to spend the money. I know some of these people so I am not just blowing hot air here. If you really want to do this correctly you just leave the system as it is right now except you set up a program like Section 8 for those that are truely needy. Under Section 8, the recipients have to complete a form whereby they certify to their income and liquid assets at least annually and this info has to be verified with supporting documentation from 3rd parties. I am a Republican and I would support this kind of program. What I do not want is our government running our health care system through a 2000 page bill that noone understands.

#61...

As someone who has been on commission the last 20 years, I haven't been paying for Insurance since 2000. So I am one of the statistics who made the decision to forgo coverage. I pay $85.00 twice a year for doctor visit and paying cash(including AAA discount)for the prescription I take daily is about half what it would be under the best Insurance plan. That said I agree with using Section 8. Although I would make sure every recipient is subject to some sort of screening before handing out any checks. Putting a medical facility to test recipients and allow doctors to give check-ups, would eliminate those using the money for their habits, and it would detect any early signs of possible health problems.

In fact, if an election were held today, he'd lose, in my opinion.

To whom? It's easy to think a politician will lose when he's running against nobody, since nobody has no flaws. But put any of the likely Republican nominees against him and Obama's chances are strong. Especially since a bunch of Republicans will wait until 2016.

I pay $85.00 twice a year for doctor visit and paying cash(including AAA discount)for the prescription I take daily is about half what it would be under the best Insurance plan.

#62 | Posted by crispee_oc

Why don't you look into a high deductible plan? or a 50/50, high deductible? I'm 50, border-line overweight and on BP and colesteral meds. I am paying 210/month for a 2700 50/50 plan. And, then find good doctors willing to give me a good rate. It takes some getting used to, but it can be done.

To whom? It's easy to think a politician will lose when he's running against nobody,

I said if the election were held today, not 2012. But nevermind it's a strawman anyway. I take it back.

My point is that if Obama does not move to just left of Center (Clinton), then he will not win in 2012. If he does, he will win easily.

It's still going to be a show and I really think Palin is going to run (in the Primaries, anyway). And, I won't be voting for her, but I hope she runs. It will be enormously fun to watch!

BTW, I wouldn't vote for McCain either.

I'm going to write in Ron Paul or his son.

I'm still waiting on why you think people like me are the problem with this country.

Let me guess at your answer:

People like me stand in the way of Socialism. We think that Capitalism under the American Constitution is the only way that humans can coexist fairly where everyone has equal opportunity. People like me also detest large for-profit monopolies set up by the government because they are too lazy to regulate something like health insurance at the state level.

What? Really? You really believe that or do you just hate her politics and the fact that so many people think she's got the right beliefs to run the country.

But, wait, before you answer. I would vote for her for President because I think that there are a few who has tons more experience. With that line of thinking, how'd Obama get elected?

Dude! Really? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
