Swiss Millionaire Fined $290,000 for Speeding

A Swiss court hit a wealthy repeat speeder with a $290,000 fine. Was going 35 miles per hour over the 50 MPH speed limit. Court estimated speeder's wealth at $20 million and based the fine on that.

I completely agree with the court, fines should punish the individual who breaks the law. A fine that would punish me would only be pocket change for some rich folks so they can and do break laws, like speeding, with impunity while I try to avoid fines because my budget can't afford them.

Danni#2 never disappoints. What a shocker. Yep -- she "completely agrees" with this!

The guy's probably a total arrogant douchebag. He's a multiple offender - no word on how multiple - and I'll bet I couldn't stand to be in his presence for 2 minutes before I wanted to drop him.

That said though - this is another disgraceful display of Socialism. Soon to be coming to America no doubt!

On a positive note - looks like Scott Brown has a real possibility of edging out our Socialist Atty. Gen, Martha Coakley in the special election for Ted Kennedy's seat here in Mass. Working my butt off trying to help make that happen. If it does - it'll be absolutely Titanic!!

One ex. of Coakley in charge. Maybe a yr and half ago(?).. and illegal shitbag began to molest a little kid in the bathroom of some store. The kid's dad punched the guy out. Guess who was arrested here??? YUP!! Coakley's response (I SWEAR I AM NOT MAKING THI UP!!!) -- "We really discourage self help". Anybody here liking this choice for U.S. Senator??

Gotta admit the Swiss do have a point here.

If a guy is worth 20 million where's the incentive to stop speeding if the cost of a regular ticket is, essentially, meaningless?

Confiscating vehicles and mandatory license removal for incorrigible, repeat offenders might also work.

If Spud sounds a little harsh here it's prolly cos there's been a rash of indiscriminate street racing incidents in Vancity over the last few years which have left a big pile of innocent bodies in their wake.

Speed kills.

Isn't that discrimination? Using your logic, people on welfare should get paid for speeding.
