Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Islam as a belief system has been widely recognized as a barrier to development. Islamic countries disputes with non-Islamic countries, pale in comparison to their internal struggles. Turkey was the first Islamic country, under Kamal Ataturk to institute restrictions on Islamic practices, in order that the country could progress from a backward, ignorant culture, to a progressive state.

Should Countries Give Up Islam For Peace & Progress

Not to defend Islam, but I bet progressives would say the same about all religion. But given our times, Islam is about the only religion that is actively killing humans everyday. And please, spare me the Mcveigh crap. Islam is oppressing people now..

Are you back home BOAZ?

Yes, OOhrah,

I am home on leave. I think I sent you an email a while ago....

I will send another...

I did not get it BOAZ. I'm home this weekend. Use my roadrunner address and I'll look for it.

"Islam is a belief system that has widely been recognized as a barrier to development...."

Just another guy with no interest in history.

"Progressives would say the same thing about all religions...."

Progressives would not. The members of the atheist Mickey Mouse Club would. Time to put on your ears, club members.

Without Islam = peace and prosperity?

Certainly revisionist history.

"State supports for alternatives (Buddhism or Christianity)...."

Anyone notice this guy is something of a nut?

......one resorts to insults, when one has lost the debate......

.....if you feel that Islam is capable of evolution, and capable of sustaining a 20th century culture, then debate that on its merits......

.....if you feel that you have nothing to rebut the premise of this debate with, then feel free to insult any and all people, I mean if we were in the ME, you could just come over to my house and kill me, thereby proving my point.....

"One has lost the debate...."

Presupposes one was debating. I find your arguments here silly. You're lucky I burn the time to even hoot a little about them.

The idea a "progressive" would favor establishing a state religion? To exterminate another religion? That's YOUR idea? Really?

That's YOUR idea? Really?

......Kamel Ataturk's actually....he considered Islam to be a form of ignorance........

......but while ME leaders are careful in their words, many countries are now taking up his methods to limit the effects of Islam.......

......this can't have hit you like a shock ? I am only saying what those guys are doing, but they don't have Ataturk's courage to say outloud what they are doing.......

......the debate is, are they right ?......

No, the "debate" is your peculiar notion of social engineering. Please, please never run for office.

en.wikipedia.org

Secularism in Turkey was introduced with the 1928 amendment of the Turkish Constitution of 1924 by removing the line "The Religion of the State is Islam" and later the Ataturk's Reforms set the administrative and political requirements to create a modern, democratic, secular state aligned with the Kemalist ideology. After nine years of its introduction, lacit was explicitly stated in the second article of the Turkish constitution on February 5, 1937. The current Turkish constitution neither recognizes an official religion nor promotes any. This includes Islam, which at least nominally more than 99% of its citizens subscribe to.

From among this list of countries graphics8.nytimes.com Turkey also has the distinction of being the only one more stupid than the United States.

.....Islam is a form of social engineering, heartily promoted by the Taliban, Ahmadinnejad, Hamas, Hezbollah and other "social engineering" organizations.......

......that, I think, is why the new directions are being considered by progressive ME states.......

.....what country are you in ?...and from ?.....

"Islam is a form of social engineering...."

So? So are you.

So? So are you.

.....I'm not in charge of anything or anyone.....

....I am only engineering my life...........

....what country are you in ? ...or from ?......

....and what do you think of the social engineering in Iran right now ??.......

....the true believers set up an Islamic state...but ...the educated Muslims are rising up in revolution against it......

.......so which are the "social engineers"....the fundamentalists that tried to turn back the clock, or the revolutionaries who want their freedom from a feudal system ?.......

This is the Thread where the "Gunz Don't Kill People, People Do" Gang Changes (predictably) their Tune to "People Don't Kill People, Islam Does"!

#24 RED "This is the Thread where the "Gunz Don't Kill People, People Do" Gang Changes (predictably) their Tune to "People Don't Kill People, Islam Does"!"

Not the best of analogies. One is a faith/mindset... the other is an inanimate object. You'd have been on firmer ground if you'd said "Dynamite Don't Kill People, People Do."

Do you deny that these terrorists are doing this in large part due to their interpretation of Islam?

Re-education is needed... we must kill them before they kill us and/or we must find effective ways of keeping them separate from us and our national interests. They aren't dissuaded by money or pleasant talk or treaties.

Ill let you all discuss the fate of me and my apparently violent muslim family. Islam made them killers.

Douchebaggery-o-plenty

"Do you deny that these terrorists are doing this in large part due to their interpretation of Islam?"

its apparent that terrorism is a by-product of religion regardless of religious flavor.

Do you deny that sick people will use their interpretation of religion to justify their henouse acts?

Manifest Destiny was a religious interpretation that justified the murder and systematic torture of millions? Was that because of islam?

Wow ---- did you lift that statement directly from OBL himself?

"its apparent that terrorism is a by-product of religion regardless of religious flavor."

But terrorism is also practiced by states as well. Please refrain from the simple implication that religion causes terrorism. While I am not religious I do find states and religion share more than they differ.

They aren't dissuaded by money or pleasant talk or treaties.

There are a lot of countries that have/had problems with treaties.

Oppressing religion is totalitarian. To accuse them of totalitarianism and suggest totalitarianism as a solution is a hypocritical view. They need only get rid of the radicalism that is a fairly recent development and get the culture to be reciprocal in the rights and privileges Islamics enjoy in our countries (like freedom of belief etc.).

Why do I get the feeling that there is a hidden asterisk somewhere in Diablo's post?

Islam is oppressing people now.

And other religions are not? Ha!

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country.

Countries need to abandon fanaticism, not any specific religion.

All countries should abandon state sponsorship of a specific religion and adopt separation of church and state.
