Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Scientists have shown for the first time that "lifeless" prion proteins, devoid of all genetic material, can evolve just like higher forms of life.

The Scripps Research Institute in the US says the prions can change to suit their environment and go on to develop drug resistance.

Prions are associated with 20 different brain diseases in humans and animals.

So, are the prions alive, or are they not?

Excuse me. I don't know what I'm asking you for. Must have forgotten myself.

Maybe the prions are neither alive or dead until someone makes that observation? In other words, they're waiting on you.

Trolling for Godot.

Trolling for Godot.

LOL

Unlike Godot, I doubt you'll have to wait very long for some troll to show up.

This thread is not evolving. Is it alive or dead?

This story is obviously bull since evolution, like all of science, is a liberal conspiracy against god. If there is something like evolution going on with these priuses it must be jesus playing with his building blocks.

Is it alive or dead?

How do you define "life," anyway? Nonliving things are certainly capable of evolution, regardless of the definition you use. All you need to get the ball rolling in an interesting direction is a capacity for self-replication. The rest is just bells and whistles.

Anyway, why do you bother to ask these questions, Zed? If the answer contradicts the wrong dusty old book of fairy tales, you'll ignore it in a hummingbird's heartbeat.

"Scientists have shown for the first time that "lifeless" prion proteins, devoid of all genetic material, can evolve just like higher forms of life."

This statement is factually incorrect. Lifeless prion proteins evolve like higher forms of life. If they are lifeless then they can't be compared to higher forms of life because they are not lower forms of life.

Call me when they evolve into something that is alive and develope wings, eyesight, hearing, the ability to digest food, poop, and say incoherent things like the evolutionists here on the DR.

If they are lifeless then they can't be compared to higher forms of life because they are not lower forms of life.

Sure, buddy. Just like you can't compare a diesel to a gasoline engine because it's not a diesel. Whether it's internal combustion or evolution at the molecular level, ignorant buffoons like Buzkiller insist upon missing the bigger picture.

What is your definition of "life," Buzzkiller? Oh, sure you could google it, but chances are that definition was written by one of those untrustworthy evolutionists, and it will have a lot of words that God didn't intend for you to understand. There is a whole galaxy of crazy shit that exists at the threshold of what one group of not-so-hairy apes has decided to call life (for now). Like I said earlier, the really fascinating behavior starts with the ability to replicate yourself. Or do you have evidence that this is not the case?

Call me when they evolve into something that is alive

What will you be doing in 3 billion years or so? Should I call in the evening or the daytime?

Zombie, its really hard to carry on a conversation with someone who believes in a theory(evolution) which really has no evidence to prove its existence. Every time some crazy notion like this prion thingy gets spouted by some crazy scientist you guys trot it out as the lastest proof of your theory. Then when someone shoots holes in it you get all upset and start crying like a loser.

When you show me all the in between animals between a T-Rex and a chicken I'll start believing. Hell I would settle for one or two.
