Dominic Osorio, a Maryland first grader whose battle with brain cancer inspired a comic book, has died at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center. The 7-year-old, diagnosed with cancer in 2007, was the inspiration for "The Dominator," a superhero dreamed up by his mother to help him through cancer treatments.

Such a bittersweet story, BuffaloBob.

When you think you have things tough, you look at what this little boy went through and it puts everything in perspective. May he rest in peace now and suffer no more. So sad.

When I have to transcribe the reports by the pediatric oncology doctors I hate it. How those people who work in that field can handle it .... man, those doctors have a gloomy, tragic sounding voice.

I work in an oncology clinic. The doctors and therapists maintain a rather positive outlook and do a good job making sure the kids that come through have a fun time (well, as fun a time as can be had given their situation), but as the database guy I occasionally see that one of these little ones is deceased, and I think the same thing. How do they do it? I'd be clinically depressed I'm sure.

You know guys, Bob is just working you up to his coup de grace.

In about 10 more posts, hes going to assert that this kid contracted cancer as a result of the smoke comin from the smokestacks on the moon. I'm just sayin...

Looks like somebody has the Nullifidian flu. I haven't posted on this thread, and yet PettyGoat has attacked me twice.

Yo, Goat, do I get under your skin or what? lol

It took you long enough

You're too easy, dull.

I guess Goatman needs to make every thread about himself. What a sad human being.

Um, no, bOoB. I realize you are very confused, but I was making them about nullifidian.

No pUnk bOy--it was all about you. It had nothing to do with Nullifidian---you just mentioned his name to draw attention to yourself. What a sad human you are. What a waste of oxygen.

This thread is about a child who faced death heroically, and how his family dealt with it. Please try to respect that, and hijack another thread.

No offense, bOoB, but I actually know what my posts are about better than you do. LOL I see your delusions are heading in new directions. Now you pretend to read other people's minds and telling them what their posts are about. You are funny, bOoB. What's next? Reading the minds of the pilots of the invisible UFO cloud slicers and dicers? LOL

Are you a medical transcriber?

When I move I plan on going to Texas to live. The other day someone mentioned to me to think about working as a medical transcriber. You can work from your home computer and there's lots of part time work. I decided to check it out and saw there are quite a few cities in Texas needing medical transcribers so it would open a lot of options for me on different locales to live I hadn't really considered before.

I've done medical transcription work before -- not for doctors but for lawyers as I worked in a law firm who did a lot of medical malpractice work for a large, well-known group of doctors and hospitals. In fact the lawyers almost had to be doctors themselves in order to handle some of the more complicated cases. I imagine medical transcribing has changed since I did it typing a transcription with cassettes and earphones? Or is it still the same with the doctor (or lawyer) sending you the tape only you transcribe it on your computer?

Any tips on going about applying at some medical transcribing company? Do they require a certain type of computer and/or program? Just wondering if you knew. Thanks.

focus.... focus....

For anyone with kids, this is one of the most terrible things imaginable.....

Isn't this where we blame it on his insurance company for rescinding his coverage?

No, this is where we ask what this kid did to get God so pissed at him?

We need a war on death!

Death takes far too many people and the odds of having death are astronomical 6,692,030,277 to 6,692,030,277.

Say no to death and yes to life!

I usually don't agree with you on anything, but you really got this one right.

He got his gf pregnant-and forced her to get an abortion.

While a first grader? He had to have been a conservative. They're the ones old enough to drive themselves to elementary school and say kindergarten was the best four years of their lives.

Dominic was a terrific kid, he didn't let his mind go to waste, No one can truthfully say on this one Fox News is not a reliable News source, and there are some people like post # 20 and Post # 22 that are not smart and possibly both may have a brain tumors and not realize it...

Of all the people in this world who deserve to have their lives cut short, why this one?

This could have happened to any one of us, or any of the people we love. Dominic Osorio's life should inspire us to respect our time, and try to help others as much as we can. Universal health care is a step in the right direction. The time for all of us is short, but the shortness of this childs life shows that it is possible to have a positive effect on others no matter what the time frame.

All politics on the issue aside, your #25 was beautifully written, BuffaloBob.

Electro-magnetic radiation. There has been a 40 percent across-the-board increase in the number of brain tumours in the past 20 years.

Deaths from heart disease have declined over the last few decades, but you have to die of something. There may be an environmental cause behind many "random" cancers, but it is certainly not this simplistic.

The electromagnetic radiation that saturates our environment has very long wavelengths. It is non-ionizing and cannot cause DNA damage. You're better off pointing your finger at the fallout from nearly half a century of nuclear weapons tests.

I was thinking the same thing. A 40 year old republican would be much more deserving.

"Of all the people in this world who deserve to have their lives cut short, why this one?"

God is a bastard. If you don't believe me, read the Old Testament.

Oh, I know. If God existed, I'd blame him.

Seven years on this earth. He should have had many more. Kids aren't supposed to die like this. They're not supposed to die before their parents.

While in high school, my daughter worked at Disneyland in California, she was Chip (of the chipmunks) and her job was to escort children brought to Disneyland by the Wish Foundation. When I read the letters by parents to "Chip", letters expressing appreciation for the joy Chip brought, I would get tears in my eyes. What a difficult job my daughter was doing. Many of these children were cancer patients and this trip was their last smile. (She is now a pediatrician)
