Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele, speaking in an interview this weekend about attracting black voters to his party, said white Republicans have been scared of him.

The Hill reports that Steele was appearing on NewsOne's Washington Watch on Sunday when the host, Roland Martin, asked him about bringing in more African-American voters to the Republican party.

"One of the criticisms I've always had is Republicans -- white Republicans -- have been scared of black folks," Martin said.

In that case it is good to be a libertarian...

I suppose there's an advantage to hooking up to libertarianism. Basically, you get to bitch about things without ever having to wonder what you'd do if actually entrusted with responsibility for governing.

"One of the criticisms I've always had is Republicans -- white Republicans -- have been scared of black folks," Martin said.

Typical white Republican people!

/Sorry, had to be sed at some point.

Be Well.

I have a feeling if Michael "Spooky" Steele was white, the GOPers would've tossed him over the side of their tugboat months ago. Too bad they can't disappear him with an ambassadorship. I wonder if some heavy-hitting, deep-pockets corporate donor might be lined up to offer him "an opportunity in the private sector"?

I imagine Rush Limbaugh will have some harsh words for Mikey and that Mikey will be apologizing soon.
In the future Mike, get your statements approved by Rush in advance.

Hey DOC I would know exactly what to do, this whole mess started with BUSH and Accelerated under Obama. I don't need or want a nanny state. I support LESS Government as I already have a Mommy and Daddy...

"Hey DOC I would know exactly what to do"

You very well may. But as a Libertarian you'll never have to actually try to figure out how to get it done.

You have a point Doc the problem with being a libertarian is being marginalized by both Democrats and Republicans. In a real three party system our fearless leaders would have to actually listen to their constituents...

I'm all for a three (or more) party system and I'd also like to consider something along the lines of a parliamentary system. Unfortunately, the general run of things in US politics has been for one or more of the two gaming establishments -- Reps and Dems -- to co-opt any nascent third party, e.g. populists, progressives, etc. And I agree with you that a system with three or more parties would likely lead to more of a democratic (small "d") system, one more responsive to the wishes of the people.

I've always thought that to get a viable 3rd Party, one of the two majors would have to split.

But the split we see now in the Repubs is not moderate vs conservative, it is more conservative/moderate vs a wacky fringe rightwing version of populism, which, though it has a vocal anti-intellectual fringe attraction, will never sustain itself as a real Party.

As much as Dems like to hope they could run against them.

Corporate America will never allow more than a two party system. They would have to buy off too many candidates.

I humbly take back all the times in the past when stating:

MICHAEL STEELE FOR POTUS IN '08!

"I support LESS Government as I already have a Mommy and Daddy..."

Do Mommy and Daddy have Medicare or Social Security???

"MICHAEL STEELE FOR POTUS IN '08!"

Bring him on!!!!

-Corporate America will never allow more than a two party system. They would have to buy off too many candidates

That's a good point.

.....isn't that a pre-requisite of the Repub party now ?.......

"I've always thought that to get a viable 3rd Party, one of the two majors would have to split."

If we made voting a legal obligation, that would do the trick too.

Remember, 50% of the voting age population doesn't vote.

Do Mommy and Daddy have Medicare or Social Security???

No we are all self sufficient and do not need the Government for anything except roads, Bridges, Infrastructure and a common defense, that being said health care needs to be reformed without the incredible amount of Government waste and bureaucracy that is currently being proposed by the White House and Nancy Pelosi...

Oh, so they aren't old enough yet but we all know they'll take the Medicare and the SS when they can.
So will you though you'll whine about big government even while receiving the benefits from big government just like the rest of the Teabaggers.

The Republican chairman appeared on NewsOne's "Washington Watch" this weekend, a new Sunday polititcal talk show aimed at a black audience. The host, Roland Martin, asked Steele how could Republicans could reach out to black voters. Steele responded by talking about issues such as education, small business, jobs and the econoy, The rest is in a partial transcript:

MARTIN: But your candidates got to talk to them. One of the criticisms I've always had is Republicans -- white Republicans -- have been scared of black folks.

STEELE: You're absolutely right. I mean I've been in the room and they've been scared of me. I'm like, "I'm on your side" and so I can imagine going out there and talking to someone like you, you know, [say] "I'll listen." And they're like "Well." Let me tell you. You saw in Christie and you saw in McDonnell a door open because they went in and engaged. McDonnell was very deliberate about spending...

MARTIN: Right.

STEELE: I mean, Sheila Johnson was on his team. I mean, that was a big deal. That's because he engaged her and she helped navigate him through that relationship.
www.freerepublic.com

How desperate is the left and the predicatble lib posters here, when they can somehow imply this was some whitey is afraid of the black man. Anyone who watches the video and reads the transcripts, can see they were engaging in ways for the white candidates, and republican pundits to increase the minority vote. Like going on shows with with black hosts like Martin. Why else would Steele follow up on the victories and invoke Sheila Johnson? God only knows, how taking a couple of lines out of context, makes it a news story and ends up here. Brings this site a notch down, IMO...

The answer is YES they do receive a check that is not needed in the first place so they give it back to the Government Via taxes. Meanwhile Nancy and Obama will always use a sledge hammer when a screwdriver would suffice. Healthcare needs to be reformed we all get that but not with the bureaucracy and waste that is currently being proposed, maybe you like a Nanny State we don't...

From Sunlen Miller:

During an exclusive interview with ABC News' Jake Tapper today, President Obama said that penalties are appropriate for people who try to "free ride" the health care system but stopped short of endorsing the threat of jail time for those who refuse to pay a fine for not having insurance.

Well it's nice to see President Obama's Nanny state endorses penalties that will eventually leed to jail time...
Welcome to the U.S.S.A

The answer is YES they do receive a check that is not needed in the first place so they give it back to the Government Via taxes.

Not all of it.

Taxes are only 35% tops, and even then only 85% of SS benefits are taxable (max).

The answer is YES they do receive a check that is not needed in the first place so they give it back to the Government Via taxes.

What many people do not know, is that you do not have to ever start collecting Social Security benefits if you don't enjoy having your hand out for Government money.

I just truly enjoy watching people with their hand out screaming about people with their hand out.

They don't want their MONEY or their TAXES, my parents property taxes alone have increased by 13% in just one year. The poultry Social Security Check they receive and do not need is poetic justice for Government Assholes hell bent on raising taxes at every turn, It is indeed poetic justice to pay them back with their own money

And Remember after Nancy and Obama are finished spending 1.5 Trillion Dollars Taxes will not go up not one dime, why because it's all Free

White republicans are scared of everything Mike. Don't take it personally.

But if they were truly self sufficient then they would not collect the handout. If they put their money where their mouth is then they would have not started collecting in the first place.

I fathom that when you turn 65 you will stand in line for your check just like everyone else. What makes it funny is that you are bitching about it now.

Nice of you to speak for all. So, are Mommy and Daddy on Medicare and SS???? Are Mommy and Daddy leeches depending on government programs???

They never went to public school, walked on a public sidewalk or drove on a public rode. They'd never call the fire department or the police. On 9-11 they demanded the military stop defending America.

The poultry Social Security Check...

Of course they did and nobody minds paying TAXES until SPENDING goes out of control what you are suggesting is a cradle to the grave government that is Socialistic and does everything for you. LIBERALS want a Government that will wipe their asses for them I don't, I would suggest there are plenty of other COMMUNIST countries that fit in with your HELPLESS lifestyle why not move to one of them instead of bankrupting this one.
Also it is obvious you did not read my post #29...

This is a similar argument to saying that liberals who think taxes should be higher can voluntarily pay more into the government, and if they don't, they're hypocrites.

Do you agree with that bit of logic as well?
