That number doesn't necessarily mean what you are implying that it does.

The best governmental setup, based on current political parties and attitudes:

A House of Rep that is slightly heavy with social liberals.
A Senate slightly heavy with fiscal conservatives.
A President that was drafted. That's right, pull his or her name out of a fishbowl and MAKE that poor bastard serve as the CinC for four years. Of course, once the term is done, he's out and can't be forced to serve again.

The Presidency is the only job in the country in which someone should be drafted.

/And since I didn't mention it, term limits on the Legislative and the Judicial.

The recent elections are a snap of the recent elections and not necessarily something to foretell in the future.

But it's fun to talk about it.

Problem with Obama is that he may be popular personally but his policies suck.

He goes to NJ 5 times and the independents shifted 20 points from when he won in 2008 to the repub candidate.

He goes to VA twice for Deeds and he shifts the electorate 18 points from when he won in 2008.

Obama has no coat tails. He doesn't even have a coat.

All Obama has done really is reincarnate Clinton policies.

Obama has no coat tails. He doesn't even have a coat.

Unlike you Muffy, he does have a clue.

Yeah mysterysextoy, the Clinton years were horrible.

I'm not criticizing Clinton. I liked him. I still like him.

The headline should read:

Rasmussen Poll: 58% Say Next President Likely To Be Republican

But then nobody would click the thread.

Here, I'll fix this for you.

Rasmussen Poll: 58% Say Next President Likely To Be Republican

But then no democrat ostrich would click the thread.

Rasmussen polls have proven most accurate among poll takers, but go ahead and ignore that little fact. Don't forget to close your eyes, cover your ears and stick your tounge out while yelling, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah.

Rasmussen. Ah. I see. Carry on.

"Rasmussen polls have proven most accurate among poll takers"

Care to post an independent link to that assertion, Chumly?

Zogby used to be among the most accurate of pollsters according to the Right, until he began having results Limbaugh didn't like.

Wasn't Rasmussen the only polster to nail the NY 23 election?

I am ok with the Zog.

...at least somewhat likely the next president of the United States will be a Republican

And the pendulum swings....

That number doesn't necessarily mean what you are implying that it does.

If they could show me a poll saying 58% think Cheney should be the next republican president, I would grant them the implication.

The survey was taken on Tuesday and Wednesday nights of this past week, but the question did not specify whether the next president will be elected in 2012 or 2016.

Rasmussen's pulling a dumb trick here that renders the poll completely useless. If the people polled were not asked whether they were talking about 2012 or 2016, then it lumps together people predicting something unlikely (an incumbent president's defeat) with something more likely (a power switch after eight years of an incumbent). Rasmussen is a hack.

I doubt anyone here thought or pretended this poll was useful. It doesn't even qualify as interesting. I mean seriously what do you care what the majority thinks, they're a bunch of idiots anyway.

What is interesting is when the majority elects a democrat, then it's "The people have spoken." When they elect a Republican then it's "The people are idiots."

I mean seriously what do you care what the majority thinks ...

And how would Rasmussen figure out what the majority thinks? They're the worst pollster in the country.

Rasmussen, middling at best:

www.surveyusa.com

23 posts, and not a name mentioned.

Don't you think that is a little important? You know, have someone in mind that is capable of taking down an incumbent.

I think it is pretty important.

Sure you can gloat about anything Ramussen puts out there but how about dealing with the reality of the situation for a minute.

A Rebublican is going to be the next President huh?

Who Dat?

Numbers from last weeks election, shows that the Republicans won the independent vote by 2:1 margin, and they won the likely voter count by a 2:1 margin.

During electons in 2008 30 million likely voters stayed home, and there was big surge in un-likely voters. It will be hard to get un-likely voters to come out in 2010 without President Obama on the ticket.

Now 2012 that is another story.

Meanwhile, 26% believe in ghosts and 50% declare themselves "conservative" yet cant/don't/wont conserve anything (including their own money).

I doubt anyone here thought or pretended this poll was useful.

So you are purposely trying to post useless crap. Good to know that was your plan.

Now you did it. You had to piss on their fantasy that in 2012 Obama will not be re-elected. Next thing you will be telling them that they will not be able to resurrect the turnip Raygun to serve in 2012. Clearly the founders meant once you die, the two term limit resets.

So you are purposely trying to post useless crap. Good to know that was your plan.

Well, the poll is very telling even though it was purposely vague.

It demonstrates that the majority has no faith or confidence in Democratic leadership.

Yeah that's it. Democrats suck and any Republican even those that are yet to be named are more likely to win than any known Democrat.

That's what I meant by posting this poll.

Rasmussen has demonstrated time and time again the highest level of accuracy of all the pollsters.

"The Presidency is the only job in the country in which someone should be drafted."

Vonnegut suggested that in Harrison Bergeron. The president in that story was eerily similar to W.

"It demonstrates that the majority has no faith or confidence in Democratic leadership."

No it doesn't. There are a dozen different points of view that could elicit a response such as this poll reports which are totally supportive of the President and the Democrats in general.

This poll is worthless.

It demonstrates that the majority has no faith or confidence in Democratic leadership.

It demonstrates nothing of the kind, because Rasmussen asked the question in such a stupid way.

-It demonstrates nothing of the kind, because Rasmussen asked the question in such a stupid way.

As per usual with the Right's favorite pollster.

Considering that the typical leftist pollser is usually the following:

How would you rate President Obama's performance?

A. Exceptional
B. Above Average
C. Totally Awesome
D. Excellent

Why do you always just mkake shit up?

Does it make you feel better about yourself to make shit up that you know isn't true?

That is a weird complex you have going on. Have you seen anyone about it?

Well, the poll is very telling even though it was purposely vague.

No, it isn't.

A poll is only as useful as the question that is asked. If you intentionally make the question vague, then the results are as equally as vague.

A pole is only as useful as the chick writhing upon it is worth. If She is hot then it's worth a Billion spot. If She's not then it's only worth a dot.

This issue is akin to the tough journalistic questions that Fox News had for Bush....

"Tell us Mr. President, as the best President ever, just how do you manage to be so awesome?"

How would you rate President Obama's performance?

A. Exceptional
B. Above Average
C. Totally Awesome
D. Excellent

That's straight out of the Stephen Colbert book on rating W.
