Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Washington In the wake of the strong showing by Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman in Tuesday's special congressional election in New York, many Republicans are convinced that his near-win is an affirmation that the GOP should more actively support staunchly conservative nominees in races across the nation.

Yet, despite Mr. Hoffman's emergence, his showing is Pyrrhic and could have dire electoral consequences for the Republican Party.

In a nation that is so diverse economically, culturally, and politically, a party that enforces a rigid litmus test for membership will not be able to remain viable.

The future of the GOP is in the balance. They will either tack to the Right and remain in the wilderness. Or tack to the Center and once again become a viable force.

40% of people consider themselves conservatives. If is you Libs who are the 20%ers. Repubs are gaining independent voters and Democrats are scared shitless because Obama can't protect them.

'Conservatives' got power and dug us a hole so deep it reaches China.

Maybe you missed the last Congressional Elections.

Why would Dems be scared when they just keep winning?

Greenbaum must be highly intelligent if he uses words like 'pyrrhic'.

Greenbaum must be highly intelligent if he uses words like 'pyrrhic'.

That word is a destroyer in scrabble.

The GOP has forever lost the label "conservative". The massive expansion of the federal government, massive budget deficits, rollbacks of enviromental protections and needless corporatism war under the reign of Bushling has forever tarnished the neocon label.

#8 wall
needless corporatism war...the neocon label.

GOP or Bush aside, Aren't these two synonymous?
