Sex Tape Prompts Miss California to Drop Suit

A legal battle between dethroned Miss California USA Carrie Prejean and pageant officials was quickly settled after the revelation of an "extremely graphic" sexual video of Prejean, a source familiar with the lawsuits' settlement told CNN. "TMZ obtained the video months ago but decided not to post it because it was so racy," the gossip site reported. "Let's just say, Carrie has a promising solo career."

Anyone who condones this type of tactic is condeming free speech. What she may have done in a video is totally irrelevant to the case at hand(no pun intended) against the defendants. She was removed as Miss CaliforniaUSA based entirely on her own opinions. Where are the "free speech" warriors? Silent, because they didn't agree with her opinions. More liberal hypocrisy.

Carrie Prejean was wrongly abused for stating her opinion. Perez Hilton's response to her answer was obnoxious as hell.

But her sex tape is completely pertinent to a lawsuit she filed against the beauty pageant after she was fired for breach of contract. Every contestant at these events knows they have a morals clause to uphold.

It's also a nice example of hypocrisy. Gay marriage? Against my religious beliefs and I am being persecuted because of them. Having sex with myself on camera? God is completely cool with that.

We're way past the free speech issue. She filed suit against the pageant, claiming religious discrimination after she couldn't fulfill one of the easiest jobs on the planet -- beauty pageant title holder.

Once you file a lawsuit, you open yourself up to the kind of scrutiny that led to the revelation of this sex tape.

I gotta hand it to her, though. This was a nice way to begin the publicity tour for her book.

Why did these tapes not surface BEFORE the contest? Doesn't the pagent organization investigate the contestants? If the tapes are a problem when a lawsuit if broght, I would think the tapes are also objectionable even if a lawsuit had not been broght forth. I'm one of those children of baby boomers and I don't think people are necessarily becoming more liberal. I know liberals, conservatives and wild cards when you consider more traditional political topics.

On the issue of gay marriage I think we're seeing a loss of clout as a political topic, not a shift to the left. Most people my age are in general more familiar with gay people and know more of them and therefore have a more personal experience with it.

Homosexuality is not immoral, and the morality of abortion is a personal choice the state has no business making for others. As for drugs, I've never said there's nothing wrong with abusing hardcore drugs like cocaine and meth. I think pot is no worse than booze and should be completely legal.
