Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who was pushed out of her job in 2005, is running for the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Democrat Barbara Boxer. "As California's senator, economic recovery and fiscal accountability will be my priorities," said Fiorina, an adviser to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign. "I will not settle for a jobless recovery."

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't She the same woman who wiretapped Her fellow HP folks.

Larry

That was Patricia Dunn NOT Carly.

Hell, I would vote for Pat Paulsen before I voted for Boxer. I recently tried to contact her though her Los Angles office concerning government business regarding a project she supposedly purports to support and over see, and was not able to get past the 18 year airhead girl that answered the phone. Almost every attempt I made to leave a message was met with the canned response of "would you like a greet from the Senator (a post card with her picture)". No, I would like to leave a message about project XYZ; explanation given... "Ah, would you like a greet from the Senator?" NO!
Finally I was offered a phone number to the Navy; which she was working with on this project, which I accepted and called, it was to the Navy's Job corps training center!!!!. no help. If a government employee can't get to her about an issue that concerns potentially several thousands of dollars, how can citizen Joe ever give her input or alert her to an issue?

Hell, the other may not be any better, but it's worth a shot, can't be any worse.

In all fairness you can submit a request for consideration, which starts by waving your privacy and then is reviewed by staff (more 18 year olds) and then wait several months while the background checks are conducted...no guarantee it will get reviewed by the Senator, but at least you'll get a through background check.

I was once told that the world is run by 18 year old women...I believe it!

Calibrokeia's citizens needs to clean their electoral house. Why Representatives/Senators from the most irresponsible state in the Union steer the congressional ship should be a serious question. California is liberalizing themselves to death. There government has no money. It is the fault of that government and the people who put them in office. They deserve it. But why should the whole country be subjected to the CA liberal pipe dream. They're doing the same thing to all of us.

Failed HP. Failed McLost.

Real Republian Presidential material, never mind Senatorial.

That damn Republican governor.

Oh--Arnold passed or signed an 11 billion--with a B--bond measure to "bring water to the state for years to come that is environmentally safe". wth!!

Yes--the governor who couldn't shoot straight.

The same way he went with a 3 billion bond for stem cell research.

See when the guy is a liberal--he becomes a liberal fiscally as well.

3 billion here--11 billion there....for liberal bs.

Here's what you need to know about the faker:

"When Fiorina became CEO in July, 1999, HP's stock price was $52 per share, and when she left 5 years later in February, 2005, it was $21 per sharea loss of over 60% of the stock's value."

Don't forget too, that she thinks outsourcing is just great. If you want the economy to fall further into the abyss then elect people like this her (I resisted a powerful urge to call her a nasty name because I can't stand her).

Murphy supports another loser go figure. Murphy when are you going to get educated and leave the conservatives? Maybe if you had gotten educated wouldn't be a 2nd rate insurance sales person.

Carly Fiorina?

Seriously?

The H1B Visa touting HP destroyer who used to be the top economic advisor to John "the Fundamentals are just swell" McCain?

Going up against Babs Boxer in Cali?

Lawl!

GL w/ THAT!

^_^

Be Well.

I heard last night that the teabaggers are going to run a conservative against Fiorina in the primary.

The GOP is in such disarray right now.

Personally, I am loving it.

Screw them.

They don't deserve office by default. That's what the Dems enjoyed and look at the results so far.

That's not entirely accurate. Dem's were also able to point out pretty effectively the mistakes of the previous administration. They didn't just completely stand there and do nothing, waiting their turn. I've yet to see anything even closely resembling that from the GOP.

Now whether or not the Democrats did the other part of the job, i.e. effectively describing their agenda and following through with it, well that's another story, and it is debatable.

They didn't just completely stand there and do nothing, waiting their turn.

That may be true of the DNC, but the GOP is doing just that - waiting their turn because being 'different' from them - sells. It's disgusting.

2010 will be the epitome of mud-slinging from both sides. The GOP will probably emergre victorious by default, but a bunch of dildos will be occuppying office as a result.

I hate this 2-party shit. It isn't about a positive message so much as it's about dragging down the other in order to raise up oneself. Obama perpetuates this - he campaigned on this feel-good shit and has quickly become everything he denounced on the campaign-trail.

Fiorina doesn't realize where she is. She's in the world's capital of Libtardville, where once a libbie wins office, you can't get rid of them. The Democratic "leadership"--such as it is--is a bunch of crotchety 70-year-olds who don't have any worries about re-election.

Boxer will go out of the Senate in a coffin, just like the Lyin' of the Senate did earlier this year. Just like Byrd will, Reid, all of them.

I don't even know if I would support her.

I know I can't stand Boxer--she needs to go.

Welcome to the world of CA politics.

I guess the recession and 9/11/01 was her fault. Just about every stock in the country did the same thing in that time span.

Just look at what that asshole at GE did with that stock. $30+ in 99 and where is it now?

She ends her announcement by saying:

Together we can turn things around.

Didn't she same the same thing while at HP?

Well, she turned things around alright. Right down the crapper with heavy, heavy job losses.

They are doing much better since she left. Owning EDS is a pretty big move.

That little midget Boxer needs to go if for nothing else...her continued pushing of the man-made global warming fraud/hoax.

Guess I didn't need another reason not to buy HP.

What does HP stand for?

High

Price

Ever hear of S.I Hayakawa, RisR? How 'bout Pete Wilson? Fuck man, read a little before you go all squawky.

Boxer has spoken truth to power more than most during the last pathetic decade.

"I guess the recession and 9/11/01 was her fault. Just about every stock in the country did the same thing in that time span."

No they did not. The recession following 9-11 was relatively short and stocks did not lose 60% of their value and by 2005 stocks were doing very well. She managed to have her stock values drop during a time when most companies were seeing very good value increases.

Carly Fiorina? Why is it almost always the wrong people who go into politics.

I suppose at least she could teach Sarah Palin a thing or two about the so-called Real World, and how to run a company until it chucks you out. Basically just another Personality Obsessive. Couldn't she just go on Dancing with the Stars or something?

But Murphy is on her team so it must be good news.

Oh,now I see probably insn't "Conservative" enough for Murphy. Go Palin/Murphy - the Scary Girls!

Bush sucked, so the Dems got put in charge. The Dems suck, so the Reps will get put in charge. The Reps will then suck, so...

"Bush sucked, so the Dems got put in charge. The Dems suck, so the Reps will get put in charge. The Reps will then suck, so..."

And yet, whenever there's a problem (housing crisis, unemployment, financial system crisis)...people cry "The Government has got to do something about this"

"She's in the world's capital of Libtardville, where once a libbie wins office, you can't get rid of them.

As usual, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Tell us again how much your insurer's ceo makes, jackass. Does the name Gray Davis ring a bell by any chance?

Boxer never has had all the dots on her dice. She has been a vapid know-nothing since she was on the board of supervisors in Marin County, CA, but has lucked out each time she has run for office. This time she's at the end of her string and will go ungracefully into retirement in 2010.

EDS? HP owns that profit mongering whore behind half of the states' T18 programs?

Shame, true shame, and they want to send the rest of our healthcare down the same no bid contract rat hole.

Hey, like boxer said - "It's SENATOR lollipop guild to you general"

:P

My insurance co's CEO makes $4mil a year, all corporate salaries for all 5k EE's comprise 2% of total premium dollars. Taxes to the state and fed are another 2%, and dealing with beaurocratic BS is approximately 10%

:P

I worked at HP when Fiorina was in charge. She came from AT&T where she basically slept her way up from secretary and into an Executive VP position, built a house of cards around the Lucent spin-off, and then jumped to HP just as the cards at Lucent imploded.

She is a complete fucking idiot who chopped HP into pieces and sold off its profitable divisions so she could acquire cash to buy the bloat-pig that was Compaq. She drove HP -- once the jewel of Silicon Valley -- right into the ground, leaving it a shell of its former glory. She is the classic clueless MBA leaving a wake of dead bodies behind her as she made bad decision after bad decision. You will need to look far and wide to find an employee or stockholder from that period who doesn't hate her guts. Even my intense loathing of Barbara Boxer and everything she stands for couldn't get me to flip a lever for Carly Fiorina. Fuck her.

Boxer has spoken truth to power more than most during the last pathetic decade.

Dude she's a U.S. Senator. She is the power. What the hell are you smoking over there?

Boxer; now you can understand why California and the country is in trouble-- the dems can do better but, unfortunately, California and all of us have to listen to this mentally challenged person-- a real example of Murphy's Law

Sniper don't even bother. danni has no idea the s+p is down in between those dates, because she does not invest!

The funny part is there is NOT ONE for profit company she respects....NONE! For her to pass judgment on a CEO is like her passing gas. It stinks, and it's hypocritical.

As for carly, she left behind a very strong company which has gained market share and ROE since her departure. BUT you won't hear her praise Mark Hurd either!

Of course the left will protest against her, that's what they do! But it's kind of hard for them to promote barbara boxer isn't it??????

And while your on your high horse danni, tell us where your PC was made, your cell phone, and EVERY appliance in your house!

Murphy supports another loser go figure. Murphy when are you going to get educated and leave the conservatives?

She would be perfect for the Senate then!

It's full of third rate country lawyers and strip mall owners--that leave bodies behind after bad decisions--so why not!

No they did not. The recession following 9-11 was relatively short and stocks did not lose 60% of their value and by 2005 stocks were doing very well.

I guess math wasn't your long suit. When a stock goes from 100 to 40 it looses 60% of its value. To get back where it was, it has to go from 40 to 100 which is ? ? ? How bout 150% I would call that a little more than quite well. Besides, you thought the Bush years sucked. Which is it?

The Right Wing of the FOX-Republican Party will not let this stand, Ms Fiorina is just not Conservative enough...REMEMBER NY 23...It will be moved to the West Coast by these WACKO'S...Another 6 more Years Of Sen. Boxer courtesy of the Fox-Republicans, THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!

Danni, are you from NY or NJ? I sure as hell don't think you're a native Floridian. Funny how those who screwed things up in the NE move to FL and proceed to replicate the same problems down here.

#32 | Posted by NappyHeadedHo

A great appraisal of Fiorina. Although I detest Boxer as the worse senator in the senate (well except maybe for Reid or Dodd), Fiorina could be worse (although I don't see how). She is as bad as C. Michael Armstrong, who chewed up Hughes before going to AT&T and then messed it up. There are a lot of competent people from private industry, but unfortunately she is not one. CA still needs someone competent to run against Boxer, although I don't see any names on the horizon. Whoever else is on the ballot will get my vote.

Real Republian Presidential material, never mind Senatorial.

Again proof you can NEVER PLEASE LIBERALS. They complain about the GOP getting rid of moderates, and here we have a moderate who will have to face against a conservative in the primaries and Liberals still complain. What is their problem, they are never ever happy.

Riiight! It's one thing to be wrong, it's another thing to be snide and wrong.

"I sure as hell don't think you're a native Floridian."

My family has been in Florida since around 1900, probably even earlier though we don't have documents to prove it.

"And while your on your high horse danni, tell us where your PC was made, your cell phone, and EVERY appliance in your house!"

And you're just stupid enough to post that like it's a good thing, meanwhile we have 10% unemployment, foreclosure nightmare, and deficits and debt. Can you say...thank you Ronald Reagan???

Danni has once again driven into the ditch on the left hand side of the road.

Ronald Reagan? Are you fucking bat-shit nuts?

How about thanking the lefty-loony legislature that has spent us into the poor house with NOTHING to show for it?

#47---"even though we don't have documents to prove it"----before the settlers came?--- swamp folks? Seminole? Choctaw? Apalachee?

Boxer is a mess!

A classic example of why California is sinking fast.

You want to see what the U.S. will look like in a few years? Look at California.

Boxer in her own words....

"We have fought for social justice. We have fought for economic justice. We have fought for environmental justice. We have fought for criminal justice. Now we must add a new fight - the fight for electoral justice."

Hey I'd marry Boxer in a heartbeat if She asked. I think She is kewl.

Larry

I worked on Fiorina's security system on the 12 million dollar home she built in Kohala after bilking HP for millions of dollars and nearly bankrupting the company back in 2005 before they threw her as out.

She asked me about the system we were installing ($30,000 in hardware alone) and as soon as I tried to explain how the system would work, the bimbo got lost 30 seconds into the conservation and simply walked away to talk to the plumbers (without so much as a thank you), something she could understand (you know, shit flows down hill and payday is on Friday). Now, you stupid republicans want to support her as a senator?

My favorite comment on Carly Fiorina comes from Maureen Dowd.
www.nytimes.com

Carly Fiorina, the woman John McCain sent out to defend Sarah Palin and rip anyone who calls her a tabula rasa on foreign policy and the economy, admitted Tuesday that Palin was not capable of running Hewlett-Packard.

That's pretty damning coming from Fiorina, who also was not capable of running Hewlett-Packard.

:)

I'm no fan of Barbara Boxer, but replacing the special interests Barbara Boxer is beholden to (Hollywood) with the special interests Carly Fiorina is beholen to (Wall Street) isn't a move forward.

Danni wrote, Here's what you need to know about the faker: "When Fiorina became CEO in July, 1999, HP's stock price was $52 per share, and when she left 5 years later in February, 2005, it was $21 per sharea loss of over 60% of the stock's value."

What? Results matter now?

Okay, what was the unemployment rate when Obama took office? Is it higher or lower now?

What was the deficit when Obama took office? Is the deficit higher or lower now?

Don't forget too, that Obama thinks redistributing peoples wealth is just great.

Same for CA. They screwed that state up and they are migrating to all the other western states and screwing them up. Liberalism is like the plague, it is spread by rats getting off the sinking ship.

Where's Zombie Reagan when you need him?

Every year, he rides into town, on his faithful horse "Minuteman," with his second wife by his side, and espouses Good Christian Values. And makes the world "right" again.

If you're lucky he leaves a copy of "Grit" on your doorstep!

That and a picture of the Marlboro Man.

Sniper is having a hissy fit on fabricated facts again.

Danni,
The tech sector (if you look at the NASDAQ at the time) in the years 1999 to 2005 was worse by far than what is shown in the DJIA. I know, I had almost all my investments in tech stocks - not a good move. To criticise Carly for lower stock prices during her tenure at HP, when the entire sector's bubble broke and never (even as of today) rebounded to the late 90's highs, is not exactly fair. I don't think she's a great Senate candidate by any stretch, but I have family that work for HP in Oregon who say she was better than what they have now. She at least invested in R&D and looked to the future. The current regime at HP is still downsizing US jobs in preference for overseas jobs and has no R&D to speak of. They are gobbling up companies and selling their products. Not exactly HP Invent, eh? As for Senator in CA, not so much...

To criticise Carly for lower stock prices during her tenure at HP, when the entire sector's bubble broke and never (even as of today) rebounded to the late 90's highs, is not exactly fair.

I was thinking of making this point too, but the fact remains she was CEO during the worst five years of HPQ's existence, if you take stock price as the indicator.

I'm not sure the HP of today is something she built, or it's all that was left after she was done destroying.

I see this woman as a burn artist. Perhaps a necessary evil in the corporate world, but not someone the public should trust with their money.

Snoofy, you might be right... I just remember the TERRIBLE tech bubble that popped and has never come back to what it was - plus the comments from my family members who work (or worked) for HP. HP really is a shadow of it's former self. The founders would roll in their graves...Maybe it WAS Carly - but what was the board doing at the time? I need to research that one a bit to comment. I don't really remember.

When she starts campaigning I sure hope the Democrats quickly connect her to job outsourcing and unemployment. She should not be able to escape blame for her role in helping to destroy the American middle class.

Fiorina is a classic example of why the tech bubble burst as fast as it did. Hp was at one the time one of the premier electronics manufacturers in the world. They were a fore-runner in programmable calculating products and even medical equipment. HP made their name on quality products no matter what division it came from.

Now along comes the bimbo from Wall Street and with no formal training in electronics at all, she buys Compaq, one of the best PC manufacturers in the industry, and hires the cheapest outfits in Taiwan, and China to manufacture her afterbirth. She though this is how to compete with IBM and the powerhouses in Japan who made far better computers and she then sells the American public millions of the cheapest crappiest computers ever manufactured. She then proceeds to outsource the greatest tech support teams ever established in the PC world.

In short, she destroyed the the industry's reputation and sold out the long time employees to overseas manufacturers. No wonder the republicans want her in the senate.
