Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Claude Levi-Strauss, widely considered the father of modern anthropology, has died at age 100. The French intellectual was regarded as having reshaped the field of anthropology, introducing structuralism -- concepts about common patterns of behavior and thought, especially myths, in a wide range of human societies.

I hear he had great genes too.

Shoot me now.

BOSTON (AP) Robert H. Rines, a lawyer, composer, inventor and physicist whose discoveries led to sharper resolution in radar, sonar and ultrasound imaging and who claimed to have seen the Loch Ness Monster, has died. He was 87.

Rines died of heart failure at his home in Boston on Sunday, surrounded by his family, his wife, Joanne Hayes-Rines, told The Associated Press on Monday.

Rines invented prototype radar and sonar technology that was later also incorporated in ultrasound imaging of internal organs. He donated the radar patent to the U.S. government and gave the imaging patent to the rest of the world to use for free, Hayes-Rines said

my pet goldfish john-rambo died. he was 13 months. i think he had the swine flu, which symptoms include paranoid panic, partisan toadyism, and excessive prime time television viewing.

or maybe i just overfed him...

Riveting development

Typical, pedestrian idiocy is all DR has to offer any more.

*gasp*

Quelle horreur!!!

How dare these...these...these... boorish provincials mock the great French intellectual Claude Levi-Strauss!

*sigh*

Such disappointment is the cross to bear for cultured and intellectual beings like Zarathustra.

And so it is.

Perhaps I will visit my lover tonight, sip some wine, and sneer with her at coarse, Anglo-Saxon impudence.

(sorry, I couldn't resist.)

In honor of Zarathustra, I just flagged every post in this thread as "offensive".

I am so fed up with this country that wears its fatness, stupidity, ignorance, and anti-intellectualism like a badge of honor.

Indeed, M. Tocqueville is rolling in his grave.

I keep hoping for some reason to un-stitch the Canadian Maple Leaf from my backpack---for some indication that my country has turned a corner and evolved beyond the self-absorbed arrogance my educated, youth-hostel friends from Europe assure me it exhibits.

Its so frustrating...

Damn Levi's doesn't make fat people jeans anymore it seems. Oh and when You DO find them Your butt cheeks don't sit well in the seat. Oh well Thank G-d for Bib Overalls. No Crack Face Syndrome. THAT helps.

Dr Levi-Strauss will be missed.

If I could add a manditory class for high school, it would be anthropology.

Having said that, current day politically motivated anthropology contaminates a lot of stuff, so ya gotta be careful. (usually expressed in terms of "evil westerners exploiting pure hearted innocent non-westerners...")

"If I could add a manditory(sic) class for high school, it would be anthropology."

Try passing English first.

Ah, ZORG THE COMMA NAZI has me dead to rights....

(and not entirely unjustly)

During the history teaching I did, I did make a point to proof read a lot, and carried a pocket dictionary. I needed it.

More importantly, I gave a credit point to any students catching my mispellings (one point added to the next 100 point test). (less than 20 awarded for the year)

I'm grammer lazy when ranting on blogs:) Guilty as hell.
