Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Gore explored new studies published only last week that show methane and black carbon or soot had a far greater impact on global warming than previously thought. Carbon dioxide while the focus of the politics of climate change produces around 40% of the actual warming.
Gore acknowledged to Newsweek that the findings could complicate efforts to build a political consensus around the need to limit carbon emissions.

Gore acknowledged to Newsweek that the findings could complicate efforts to build a political consensus around the need to increase his wallet size.

The science is settled...this time, I swear.

Who's bringing this up? Oh, that's right.

But, but, but, how are the redistributionists going to give our wealth to parasit third world countrires now?

"give our wealth to parasit third world countrires"

No comment on your atrocious spelling (ok one) but your lack of historical relevance is appalling.

What a surprise. Can anything Al says be trusted?

"I believe it is appropriate to have an 'over-representation' of the facts on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience."
- Al Gore, Climate Change activist

"The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift Global Consciousness to a higher level."
- Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech

"We are close to a time when all of humankind
will envision a global agenda that encompasses
a kind of Global Marshall Plan to address the
causes of poverty and suffering and
environmental destruction all over the earth."
- Al Gore, Earth in the Balance

"We require a central organizing principle - one agreed to voluntarily. Minor shifts in policy, moderate improvement in laws and regulations,
rhetoric offered in lieu of genuine change - these are all forms of appeasement, designed to satisfy the public's desire to believe that sacrifice, struggle and a wrenching transformation of society will not be necessary."
- Al Gore, Earth in the Balance

"The fate of mankind, as well as of religion, depends upon the emergence of a new faith in the future. Armed with such a faith, we might find
it possible to resanctify the earth."

LOL!

Who gives a shit what Al Gore says.

"Gore: NEW Consensus Says CO2 Now Only 40% of Warming"
That's correct, read the article.

"Gore also explores how deforestation, soil erosion, and the rising world population are multiplying the effects of rising greenhouse gas emissions."

The operative word is 'multiplying', it gone non-linear.

Morons.

Good point jpw, except Al Gore is the one who will control the billions in carbon credit OTC markets.

To your point, besides Al Gore, who else has discredited their own cause?

"The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming,
water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself."
- Club of Rome,
premier environmental think-tank, consultants to the United Nations

"We need to get some broad based support, to capture the public's imagination... So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts...
Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."
- Prof. Stephen Schneider,
Stanford Professor of Climatology, lead author of many IPCC reports

"We've got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic and environmental policy."
- Timothy Wirth, President of the UN Foundation

"It doesn't matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true."
- Paul Watson, co-founder of Greenpeace

"Unless we announce disasters no one will listen."

Said as he drives off in his gas powered vehicle to make his long commute, texting his multiple kids, with a stack of science magazines and physics papers sitting in the back seat.

I keep telling everyone it is Moose Farts containing methane which are 40 times worse than CO2 as a greenhouse gas...

KILL THE MOOSE...

Pssst...that's not what a consensus is.

Pssst...only one of the above can be used to set up a worldwide taxation system which will make Sir Albert of the Internets a ton of money. Can you guess which one that is?

Extinction for humans will come, for sure. I just think it's unlikely to come at the hands of human activity.

The operative word is 'multiplying', it gone non-linear.

Yup.

But to be fair, CO2 shouldn't be our biggest concern. Slowing down CO2 output is expensive and results are decades away even if we started yesterday. Plants will take care of the CO2.

If we aggressively attack deforestation, land erosion, and poor land management; (none of which cost a dime or threatens the economic status quo) the CO2 will take care of itself.

The problem isn't that we're pumping 27 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere every year (OK that is a problem but not something we can do a lot about). It is that we're doing it while cutting old-growth forest to turn into golf courses or corn fields; then the top soil erodes and we need massive amounts of petrochemicals to grow anything.

2,190 acres of woodland will be cut by day's end. Every mature tree we cut represents 27grams of carbon that would have been absorbed every day for the next 50/100/200 years. Plants are the O.G. "green energy". Their eradication at an industrial pace is our second biggest problem.

If only we could easily recycle the morons who think (don't read too much into that word choice) man is incapable of destroying the planet, thus ourselves into 2x4s or a nice nitrogenous fertilizer, we'd be set.

Good post BluSky.

That is the kind of environmentalism that would get something done and make the world a better place.

I have to agree with habitat destruction. But did that article fall under the "if you cant dazzle them with fact, baffle them with bull shit" category. Or is just me?

"Linear" implies multiplication. As in, Y = 8X. It's a line, dude. 8th grade Algebra.

Maybe you meant to say that HE meant to say exponentiation?

Damn sounds like more slantways downwards excuses for perpetrating BULLSHIT to the masses to make them frightened enough to be fleeced out of monies for pet project research. What utter poppycock.

Larry

Someone check whether this charlatan sold short his carbon credits before dropping this news. Gore is the Madoff of enviro-scams.
