So, predicitons on who will be waking and baking with their gay lover in the morning?

Huh? Here is Houston, there is a race for mayor, between a rich architect, A lesbian, A black lawyer and some bland dude.

The tension has reached a fever pitch of a herd of strolling turtles. I'm gonna vote for the lesbian.

Always vote for the Lesbian!

Huh?

The gay marriage and medical Pot issues in Maine and oh shit I forget........

Anyone watching the Atlanta mayoral race? It's interesting. The first white person to potentially be mayor (a woman at that) in 32 years is leading the polls in a city that is 66% black.

I've always said this about Atlanta: The blacks there are far more progressive than their cousins in any other American city. They want something that works regardless of race.

A white mayor in Atlanta and a Lesbo Mayor in Houston.

There's some change you can believe in.

Many fine black women in Atl. If you want a black woman go to Atl.

I read the highly popular outgoing mayor of Houston (D) may run for Senate in TX, and stands a good chance of winning.

Atlanta is a fine city. I lived there (burbs -- Kennesaw actually) for 13 years. I loved it there.

Georgia laws also mandate a runoff if no candidate gets 50% of the vote. That makes it more interesting. Though can make it more expensive on election day, I like the runoff law. It keeps people from voting for someone they don't really like, but is the lesser of two evils.

An amendment to the US Constitution should be added that allowed runoffs. This would get rid of the same old POSs we keep sending to the hill.

Lots of Rednecks out in Cobb.

Lots of Rednecks out in Cobb.

Lots of rednecks in most GA counties, cap'n obvious.

Just finished ABC and NBC Nightly News.

Their polling said voters were not voting based on President Obama, but local issues.

Also, his approval rating in NJ is 57% and close to that in VA, where the GOP candidate didn't ID'd himself as a Republican in ads and copied Obama's campaign color scheme as his own.

I visited Atlanta--conference.

Great place and I have to say all the people were really wonderful.

Rcade--

This should have a larger font on the front page.

Election Night--Wahoo!

Murphy

ABC and NBC reported their polling clearly showed voters in VA and NJ were not basing their votes on President Obama at all. PRESIDENT Obama polls 57% approval in NJ and VA. So, don't go getting all excited, Murphy. Meaningless.

Great place and I have to say all the people were really wonderful.

That's what prompted me to move there, murph. I was there a couple of times on a business trip. When I came back, I told my wife we needed to move there. I took her there and she agreed.

I'll never forget my first time there and driving on I-75/85 just north of DT (practically middle of the city) and seeing only trees.

Meaningless.

Local and state elections always are, at least as a belwether to nationa politics.

Meaningless.

Keep telling yourself that mr. wristwatch...

I just like Elections..

VA called for the repub McDonnell

Theye were "people" in Atlanta and not "folks", Murphy?

What does that mean in your tidy brain?

People or folks--they were really nice.

What's with your attitude?

Meaningless.

Keep telling yourself that mr. wristwatch...

#19 | Posted by MURPHY

I will, because it's true.

Looks like the GOP is going to lose NY's Fightin' 23rd to some carpetbagger.

Democrats getting their clocks cleaned tonight.

I may just tune in to MSNBC tonight to marvel at the spin when the Republican victories roll in. I watched the first 10 minutes of Olbermann and the spin machine is on!!! Light turnout, not considering Obama in their vote, etc.

Keep telling yourself that this Republican sweep tonight is not a referendum on your lefty policies and President. Keep whistling while Rome is burning lol.

This is going to be a fun night!!

Looks like the GOP is going to lose NY's Fightin' 23rd to some carpetbagger.

#25 | Posted by northguy3

Wasn't Hillary a carpet bagger?

MSM is already saying these losses are good for Democrats.

Vast economic discontent marked the mood of Tuesday's off-year voters, portending potential trouble for incumbents generally and Democrats in particular in 2010. But in Virginia, where polls closed at 7 p.m., Creigh Deeds' main problem looks to have been Creigh Deeds.

Anybody seen ACORN?

Looks like the GOP is going to lose NY's Fightin' 23rd to some carpetbagger.

Hoffman is not a carpetbagger.

He lived in the 23rd district until they recently jerrymandered it and his street is out.

No one is calling him a carpetbagger--but you NG3.

And like Hoffman will be voting for the Dem agenda.

HA!

Doug Hoffman lives in Lake Placid. He's a carpetbagger.

Anybody seen ACORN?

#31 | Posted by mysterytoy

If it's close in NJ--which looks to be the case--ACORN nuts will be everywhere.

My attitude to you, Murphy, is that again and again you reveal yourself to be a hypocritical "Conservative-is-better-than-
Republican" who acts like a puppet of the Sarah Palinistas. That's why I want you to run for office.

Ok--only NG3 and mr. wristwatch say Hoffman is a carpetbagger....

Because it's true. Hoffman lives in Lake Placid.

If righties want to get a tingle down their leg from meaningless local elections who could blame them after the crushing defeats of the last two main election cycles.

SD--how pray tell do you get off criticizing someone for using the word people to refer to people who are the folks??

And I would vote for a conservative over a Republican any day.

And you may have something there in running for office.

Never too late to start something new --you know..

Because it's true. Hoffman lives in Lake Placid.

#38 | Posted by Timex

So what.

cool, Murphy go for it.

And tingle up the leg belongs to Chris Matthews over Obama.

Triple GOP Sweep in VA.

Governor
Lt. Gov
Attorney General

Because it's true. Hoffman lives in Lake Placid.

So what.

#41 | Posted by MURPHY

He's a carpetbagger. The GOP are eating their own.

Murphy's legs are tingling.

meaningless local elections
#39 | Posted by Timex

Wow, both Obama and Biden's visits made them national imho. Or, were those just politi-clones?

#44 | Posted by MURPHY

Who gives a shit? The only important race tonight is in Maine and the proposition to legalize medical marijuana dispensaries.

They're local elections.

Say goodbye healthcare reform

But, hey, I'm glad right wingers have ONE thing to be happy about with Dems holding a 2-1 advantage in the House, 3:2 in the Senate, and the WH.

The GOP are eating their own. Moderates have been given a 'NOT WELCOME!' sign by the GOP. I pray the GOP nominates Sarah in 2012.

Who doesn't want local medicinal pot dispensaries??

Anybody seen ACORN?

Mos def not in the Commonwealth of Virginia...

so far so good

Scozzafava was not even a moderate--she was a liberal dem.

She should have run as such.

2010 is going to be a landmark election! Say buh-bye dems! Too bad y'all couldn't grow up just a little.

Gotta' like that (C) next to the name.

Who forgot to let the yellow-dogs out?

I'm gonna get a (C) next to my name.

MysteryToy (C)

Scozzafava backed the Dem for crying out loud.

And that is a moderate repub to some people here??

Daily Ko's backed her.

That's like a Dem being backed by freepers!!

And I could really see the folks on the left backing that candidate.

But, hey, I'm glad right wingers have ONE thing to be happy about with Dems holding a 2-1 advantage in the House, 3:2 in the Senate, and the WH.

Timex as to your first point, how is that huge advantage working out for you? Why can't you pass your far left legislation?

For your second point, could you please explain to me why Joe Lieberman had to run as an independent?

#35 | POSTED BY MURPHY

Candidates who are serious about cutting spending don't get elected in NJ. I've seen them lose time after. For the stated cynical reasons, I expect Corzine to win. Put NJ in the Financial Bankrupt column.

"And you may have something there in running for office."

Palin/Murphy 2012!!!!

You read it here first!!!

Who doesn't want local medicinal pot dispensaries??

#52 | Posted by MURPHY

90 percent of the people in your retarded Republican party, dumbass.

"The GOP are eating their own. Moderates have been given a 'NOT WELCOME!' sign by the GOP."

I think us Dems should learn a lesson from the Rethugs. Some of the more conservative Dems aren't exactly cooperating the way we'd like but I think I still prefer them to Republicans. We should keep the Democratic Party a party with a really big tent, as Rethugs skew farther to the right it will bring more opportunities to replace them with moderate Dems. We may not pass everything we want but we'll pass good legislation that helps American families. If we ONLY accomplished an end to the exclusion of pre-existing conditions on health care it would be a victory for millions of Americans. We shouldn't lose sight of who we are trying to help and why.

Things are looking pretty good in New Jooousey so far.

Christie 207,647 54%
Corzine 154,146 40%

Let's keep out Progressive fingers crossed.

It's early. Don't count those chickens.

Null--testy tonight??

There were millions of repubs who voted for medicinal pot here is CA.

Regarding the legalizing of same-sex marriages, if it passes..

All I gotta' say is, from Californian perspective -- activist judges are a bitch.

explain to me why Joe Lieberman had to run as an independent?

#60 | Posted by SonOfaDemocrat

If I remember correctly he didn't win his democratic parties nomination. So he ran as Independent and won anyway.

ACORN was warned not to come out until after dark.

Run, Christie, Run! There's a box of donuts in the light at the end of the tunnel!

Mysterytoy,

You are in fact correct that he lost the primary. This was due to the left wing of the Democratic Party's support of his opponent. Just like the far left has taken over the Democratic party on the national stage, much to your peril as you are seeing tonight.

much to your peril as you are seeing tonight.

My father was a Democrat too. Why is it my peril?

Just like the far left has taken over the Democratic party on the national stage

He reminds me of Bobby from The Sopranos. Probably not far from the truth either. lol

Mysterytoy I was making the assumption that you are a Democrat. If that was a bad assumption my apologies. If you are a Democrat, your peril is if you continue to support candidates espousing the far left policies of the current Democratic party, you will soon find yourself out of power. I think tonights results is the first step in that direction.

Looks like Corzine is closing the gap...down to 4 pts, with half the precints in.

NJ will be close.

ACORN has the missing ballots ready to go just in case Corzine is upside down.

58% in and back to 6 pts diff.

As of right now, they'll need nearly 100k...

In VA, the Hampton Roads and NoVA folks didn't turn out this election, but they will in 2010. Corzine was just plain unpopular in NJ for a lot of reasons.

Local elections don't affect my life much. Congress and the WH do. I hope Sarah comes out strong for Mark Rubio in FL., then 98% GOP loses the Senate. Only a tiny slice of America is that far right.

Goatman

It's election night. Returns are what it's all about.

Desperate? With a huge margin in the House, 20 seats in the Senate, and a popular President in the WH? You funny guy!

You are actually an alien aren't you? lol

Crist could win a general, Rubio can't.

Hoffman's conceded, Owens has won the 23rd.

It depends. Does your 5th cover us too?

Thank you Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, and Glenn Beck (who got a free colonoscopy from Hoffman during his show).

Doesn't your fifth amendment to the Constitution guarantee the right to not incriminate one's self? Or is that Proxima Centauri 5?

I get so confused.

I have to get one next month. Never had one. I can barely tolerate the prostate exams I've been getting since I was 40. I'm scared shitless (so I'm told I will be after drinking their gallon of turbo-lax prior to the exam)

#112 | Posted by nanc

Providing election returns that weren't easy to find in real time online. bee ell two? A BLT doesn't sound like a bad idea right now.

Timex, was the 23rd the only election of the night?

"was the 23rd the only election of the night?"

Probably not, but it was the only one all the Republican Heavyweights Of The Future threw their weight into.

Obama will be considered damaged because Corzine lost.

Similarly, Palin, Pawlenty, Becky, et al will be hit for backing a clearly unworthy Hoffman.

Although, to Hoffman's credit, he did promise to move into the district if he was elected.

Hmmmmm how many times did Obama visit NJ and Virginia campaigning for the Democratic candidates (and losers)? Is he a heavyweight?

"Is (Obama) a heavyweight?"

Of course. Which is why I posted "Obama will be considered damaged because Corzine lost." Do you have a comprehension problem?

Ooops sorry Danforth, just a up too late problem. It wa actually a balanced post, unusual for this site. You caught me off guard.

"just a up too late problem."

No problem at all. Not to worry.

Corzine was way too unpopular in NJ to win. His approval ratings were in the basement at Bush levels. He was down 15-20 points in campaign polls a few weeks ago and began to close the gap after Obama's visits. Having lost by only 4% indicates Obama's stops did him a lot of good, but not enough for someone as unpopular as Corzine was.

Timex, 15 - 20 points a few weeks ago? Care to provide a link?

Rasmussen had Christie up 8% in August, 7% in September, 6% in early October, 3% in late October. Christie won by 4%.

Quite frankly it appears Obama's late visits had no impact LOL.

Facts, Timex, facts.

#121

You're right. I was thinking of McDonnell vs Deeds.

However, Obama's approval is 57% in NJ. Even that wasn't enough to help the highly unpopular Corzine.

FUNNY!:

Hoffman Accuses Democrats of Stealing the Election'

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. At a short press availability in his campaign office here, NY-23 Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman said that a GOTV volunteer's tires had been slashed, and all but blamed Democrats for the dirty trick.

"There are reports that they're bringing in the troops and they're bringing in ACORN," said Hoffman. "I think the Democrats are doing anything they possibly can to steal this election away from the 23rd district."

The campaign gave reporters the name and phone number of Jeremy Kain, the volunteer who claimed to have his tires slashed, but asked to confirm whether he was accusing the Democrats of surpressing the vote, Hoffman started to backtrack: We've called in the police and the police will be investigating."

The campaign is pushing this story hard after a wave of morning reports that Hoffman's grassroots supporters were misbehaving. Attacks on ACORN, and allegations that Democrats are trying to steal this election, have been striking components Hoffman's hard-edged late-game messaging.

Update: Anton Troianovski of the Wall Street Journal followed up with the Plattsburgh police on this, and was told that the volunteer actually damaged his tire on a broken bottle. I asked Hoffman campaign manager Dan Tripp about thishe said he had no comment because the campaign had not heard this yet.

It's not unheard of for a candidate to make an accusation like this without having all the facts, but it's a strange sideshow in the final hours.

...but it's a strange sideshow in the final hours.

You think that's funny? There are still people who claim that Bush stole his first election and that was 9 years ago! LOL

#124 | Posted by goatman

Just when my PTSD over his 'election' was becoming a distant memory ...

The only important thing that happened this election cycle was the Hoffman/Scuzzlebutt shootout. That one little exchange spoke more to national politics then any actual election.

The Governors were local politics blow-back on economic issues. Obama may get a little egg from Corzine, but I wouldn't expect any of this to have much impact on 2010 or 12.

All your Govenors are belong to us.

can you find an article that said this in 1993 with the elections of whitman and allen in those very same states.

need you be reminded what DID happen in 1994?
and remember it was BLOWJOB BILLY in the white house.

^.^

"Corzine was way too unpopular in NJ to win."

That would be because of the tax situation and the nspending in the state. NJ is the easat coast version of California, and it's no wonder that a tax and spend Democrat lost there.

I think that any Hoffman whining in NY is rather pathetic, and a sorry thing to see after a trully close race. He should be a good sport about it, and admit his defeat, and live to run again in the future. The problem with being a bad loser in elections is that people are less likely to give you a second chance, becuase they'll remember how you whined about it the last time ... see Algore in 2000 for reference...
