Like everything else, fishing is cyclical. When the market is not there the species will recover. My parents are soft shell crabbers. When I was young the market was eels. More eels now than you can shake a stick at. No market for eels.

Eventually humans will kill the oceans. It's inevitable. Humanity is a bacteria feeding on a nutrient-rich substrate called "earth". When the nutrients are gone, the bacteria will die in their own waste. End of story.
