Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

"O.K., folks, this is it. It's the defining moment for health care reform," writes Nobel prize-winning economist Paul Krugman. "The seemingly impossible dream of fundamental health reform is just a few steps away from becoming reality, and each player has to decide whether he or she is going to help it across the finish line or stand in its way."

Admin's note: Participants in the discussion of this weblog entry should note the site's moderation policy.

For conservatives, of course, it's an easy decision: They don't want Americans to have universal coverage, and they don't want President Obama to succeed.

For progressives, it's a slightly more difficult decision: They want universal care, and they want the president to succeed but the proposed legislation falls far short of their ideal....

... So should progressives get behind this plan? Yes. And they probably will.

This is the conundrum I'm in. My dispute with the democrats has never been ideological, only procedural. The right, first and foremost has an ideological opposition to the democrats healthcare proposal so logical consistency dictates that they criticize and fight against anything that the democrats try on this front, even if they have good ideas.

conservatives want to keep lining the pockets of the top 10% of this country while the bottom 90% fight over table scraps.

What's the matter with Hagbard and why does he vote against his own economic self interest?

My heart is with Dennis the K and Rep Weiner on this (Kucinich/Weiner '16! Fantasy Draft), but my head is with Dr Howard Dean who wrote a (the) book on the subject.

He says allowing negotiation instead of tying to already so low in many cases Medicare Dr payments (that Drs in Oregon are kicking out patients) is not enough of a reason to vote against this Bill, and if it were the final Bill he would vote for it.

He also argues in the book that a mandate is not really necessary either (build it right and they will come!), and I'd like to see the Dems really piss off the industry and comfort Americans by not including a mandate, even the weak version they have in the Bill.

"My heart is with Dennis the K and Rep Weiner on this (Kucinich/Weiner '16! Fantasy Draft), but my head is with Dr Howard Dean who wrote a (the) book on the subject."

Explains it ALL. Kook? Check. Weiner? Check. Lunatic? Check. Yep, covered it all there.

But WHERE is your first love? Diving on IED's in Pakkyland? (At least that will be her story next election cycle)

I see The Chumpel has adorned the thread with more irrelevance in lieu of on-topic retort..... but then, that's no more than we expect at this point.

Nice "Payback" there Chokely. Keep on defending the turf bro.

"Kucinich/Weiner '16! Fantasy Draft"

Like it.

"but my head is with Dr Howard Dean who wrote a (the) book on the subject."

Stick with a. He borrowed ideas from Marcia Angell and... gasp... Nader.

Wasn't that a promise made to the insurance industry in the secret healthcare meetings?

Its like this:

$27 trillion for fraudsters, who have repeatedly violated securities laws, yet have never paid a fine in excess of the profits associated with the crime, since the last great depression, eighty years ago.

$3 trillion wasted in Iraq, about 4500 US GIs sacrificed and the worlds largest embassy built just to satisfy the ego of an idiot, no oil out of that deal.

Marching down a similar path in Afghanistan.

Given the fact that Baucus wrote most of it, while in bed to the tune of almost $5 million to the health care industry, I do not believe it will bring effective change. Drug companies already charge Americans orders of magnitude higher prices for drugs compared to every other country in the world. Screwing every American costs the health care racketeers pennies on the dollar.

Nothing for the American worker except foriegn labor arbitrage, union busting and a steadfast refusal to support existing immigration law where it can be cost effective, at the employer.

-Wasn't that a promise made to the insurance industry in the secret healthcare meetings?

Naw, that was another capitulation that both Dem nominees agreed to early on, much like Single Payer.

Our problem is thinking that just because diplomacy may work with Iranians, it might also work with the GNOP..... wrong!

The anti-reform commercials funded by the insurance companies are out in force. Every time I see one, I try to do something to push health reform forward. I'm on hold with Bill Nelson right now. We are close but we can't under estimate the power of money. Literally, our lives depend on us. Pick up the phone, send an e-mail, encourage a friend to the same -- do what you can to let your elected officials know that we all want access to affordable health care.

The answer is simple. Vote NO for more socalism.

Snippy, the white-trash asshole that doesn't have health insurance and depends on the real taxpayers to pay his tab in the emergency room whines about 'socialism'.

Really funny.

Troll turds like him and Nanc are big reasons we NEED health care reform.

We have laws requiring people to have automobile insurance. Let's do the same for health insurance.

I am tired of paying the tab for uninsured assholes!!!

We have laws requiring people to have automobile insurance.

yeah, but they aren't very good.

Agreed, Eberly.

I was hit by an uninsured asshole a couple of years ago. The cops didn't even take is fucking license for driving uninsured.

We need better laws for that and health insurance.

I'd settle for universal single payer health coverage then we know everyone is insured.

the defining moment will get into full swing next tusday

dems losing in NJ and VA and the congressional in nY will cause terror through the blue dog ranks.

The answer is simple. Vote NO for more socalism.

You don't like San Diego? Or just the roadsters?

I love how these republicans don't want universal coverage until they get laid off and get ill. Then they are begging for help. I say let them die in the streets if it happens.

Can you possibly point to or link anything proving that this so called diplomacy is working with Iran? You do know they missed another deadline last week right? They said they needed another week to make a decision. Gee what is today dumb ass? Take a look at your ignorant diplomacy rants today, because most know Obama has been played. Well except those who can't pull their heads out of this Administrations collective asses.

"Can you possibly point to or link anything proving that this so called diplomacy is working with Iran?"

He said "may" not "is", Orange County.

#24...

Just going off his track record of touting the Administrations diplomacy efforts. He has started threads and claimed many times it "is" working.

"Can you possibly point to or link anything proving that this so called diplomacy is working with Iran?"

OK, if it isn't, what then??? Another war???
How many is enough???

"or people over profits?"

You are kidding right???

They might throw some bodies over the profits to shield them from the rain.

But bodies don't count as people exactly, do they?

OK, if it isn't, what then??? Another war???

#26 | Posted by danni at 2009-10-30 10:33 AM

If it isn't??? Wasn't Iran supposed to make a decision last week? Then this week? Maybe next week? You call that effective diplomacy??

If there is going to be any attacks, it will be from Israel. They see how worthless and weak our President and State Dept have been the last nine months. I guarantee they are not afraid of any threats from Obama if they decide to go it alone.

well goddamn dems have failed thier last two moments

rangle still chairman

mass changed law for appointment

"They see how worthless and weak our President and State Dept have been the last nine months."

Nothing the previous administration did accomplished any more than the present one has. In Pakistan this administration has gotten much more accomplished. If Israel does attack I think we should end all aid to them. The leadership in Iran would love nothing more than to be attacked right now, it would insure their power.

I say let them die in the streets if it happens.

Yet he wonders why he is being challenged for getting more child visitation time. Laughable.

and I HATE TO admit it but I saw a little of bayhar
did some of you when gore vidal talked about being disappointed about bush not being dead.

SO I guess that means that we can talk about the death of obama....RIGHT????????????????
?????????

I never would but if he can get away with it...
wellllllllllll ????????????????????????

"Nothing the previous administration did accomplished any more than the present one has."

So being played by Russia, NK and Iran is a step in the right direction? Do you have any idea how stupid it is to use the last Admin. as your success barometer?

"Do you have any idea how stupid it is to use the last Admin. as your success barometer?"

Stupid??? That's ridiculous, what else would you use for a "barometer?" It's the only measure that we have.

-Who was the idiot that used the ignorant Iran diplomacy analogy?

Not the same idiot who turned a topical analogy into a multi-post atopical deflection.

but danni

its past time to stop using that excuse in just about every area of every issue.

and when that worm turns all the way around I am sure you will be one of the first to say the same thing to us...

another defining moment will be when people lose thier jobs because the tax credit rate for business will be phased down and employers will not be able to continue.....will throw people into "CONSUMER OPTION" or cut jobs.

"its past time to stop using that excuse in just about every area of every issue."

It isn't an excuse. Crispee was whining that so far Obama's diplomacy hadn't worked miracles with Iran, I was just commenting that his diplomacy has done just as much as the previous president was able to accomplish with Iran in eight years.
When that worm turns you will be too old to post.

AND just started volumne one of
AMERICA..the last best hope
by bill bennett
and he talks about the 'jamestown starving period"

where they decided to have communal sharing on food and supplies and it resulted in near starvation.
capt john smith came along and said..uh..no thats not working.
replaced it with incentives for hard work.

well BARRY and your dupes, eyes glazed over manics

it didnt work then and it wont work now
NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES SEAN FUCKIN PENN meets with chavez...

At least you admit to being the idiot. That's a step in the right direction. Of course you still can't see how stupid the skewed analogy was in the first place. I guess you are calling danni an idiot as well for also retorting?

NAW>..the library computers are wheelchair accesable and I can bring a towel to wipe the drool off the keyboard.

well we WERE told that the world would kiss his ass like leftists have so far...

and the russians...that "RESET" of relations..sure has worked out well.........FOR THE RUSSIANS.

"Of course you still can't see how stupid the skewed analogy was in the first place."

Yeah, comparing the present president to the one who left office less than a year ago is crazeeeeeee, and it's never been done before or by you. Riiiight!

Yeah, we really do need to restart the old cold war BL2, terrorism is getting old, and we need a new enemy. Hey, a good cold war could let us put off health care reform for another fifty years.
Gotta spend the money on Star WArs systems that won't work, gotta build more nukes.

in the words of one of the best presidents in modern history

WELL..........here you go again

HEY did you 'hear' the impression there..lol

russian officers have stated in all writings we now have available

reagan and his threat and STUBBORNNESS were directly responsible for the end of the soviet union....the last and final straw if you will

so thanks for brining that up.

I dont want to build more nukes but I certainly dont want to give up any either and iran is the last place that needs them

EVEN MORE desperate is the situation in pakistan...
taliban could get hold of nukes there and what people there dont seem to understand,..they maybe at more risk than we are...

and you say terrorism is getting old?? if only

not if obama loses afghanistan!

"not if obama loses afghanistan!"

That may not be possible, it is beginning to look like Bush already lost Afghanistan.

I know..its bush's fault

is there some sort of automatic typeset you have on your keyboard with that phrase..
if not..there should be..

There is a reason why the Government breaks up monopolies in the private sector, the Public Option is just a baby step so the Feds can create a government run health care monopoly.

SO VOTE NO!

I think there will be plenty of no votes even though..according to rush...pelosi WANTS THE blue dogs to lose in 2010......in dem primaries that is...
they are slowing down the democrat 'change' in america that george soros has called for and has instructed them to complete.

ANOTHER MOMENT

PAGE 349

IRS.....will not give deduction on LEGAL deduction if they deem the MOTIVE as not business related.....

just like the HATE Crime signed with the bill for the war on terror..

govt has another issue to KNOW AND REGULATE what you are thinking..

gee..think they might start with CHARLY RANGLE or TAX CHEAT TIMMY.........

ALSO..,.,

bill states that MEDICAID will have large numbers of people ADDED to that

ANOTHER UNFUNDED mandate from the FEDS to the STATES...

and this is also one of the BACKDOOR ways to keep the cbo from wrecking the bullshit and its deficit addition..

"VERITAS"

#10 | Posted by Corky at 2009-10-30 09:26 AM

my bottom line is I dont care who does it or how

iran must NOT get a nuke

and even if that means military intervention....

but it HAS To be time to move on. I have actually had a pleasant conversation with danni this morning and that has me worried more than the cold weather thats hit

DAMN...its all the way down to 65

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

ONE MORE please

since the issue has been raised

here is what pisses me off more than what anyone around here says...
would someone please show me where bush has ever said anything like this overseas.
or maybe the elder bush
or any ex republican president while dem in office for that matter

LADY...just shut the fuck up and do your fuckin job

Letting the world know that FINALLY Bush is out of the picture is a big part of her job, an important part of her job. Thankfully, she has the guts to do it.

I shouldn't have to remind you of what you posted, right? Care to point anything close to what you just pasted?? You know about presidents leaving office? That is what you retorted to, right??? I mean you did read where I pasted #10, which is what you were talking about in your post, right????

to Krugman, the health care bubble is to the housing bubble as the housing bubble is to the dot com bubble.

Is he still president? I thought the little o took orfice in Jan. 09

Well, if the rep's are failing in their appointed positions...perhaps it's best left to a vote by the PEOPLE.

Still want to blame the republicans when they have total control of everything. A-friggin-mazing!!

Health care IS NOT A RIGHT!!! When is that gonna get through your thick skulls? You don't deserve anything that you haven't EARNED!!! The gov't can't GIVE you anything, because they produce nothing, all they can do is TRANSFER someone else's wealth to you. How can you think that is fair?

'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.' -Thomas Jefferson

Seriously, is this something you truely want?

"Is he still president? I thought the little o took orfice in Jan. 09"

I know when Bush's term in office ended but you don't seem to know when the war in Afghanistan was lost. It wasn't in 2009, probably not in 2008 or even 2007. Most likely back around 2003 according to most military experts.

I cant say that you should remember this when bush went abroad and talked shit like this but he has too much class and integrity to do this sort of appeasing to foreigners who LOVE to see obama weakening us into a banana republic
