Does J Street arrival signal a split in America's Israel lobby?

www.csmonitor.com

J Street challenges the dominant role AIPAC has played in defining how US Jews see Israel. Why is a prominent Israeli politician not attending J Street's national conference in Washington this week?.

Turns out the "Robust Public Option" can't even make its way through The House:

There's something to be said for bickering Democrats, though most of the descriptive words end with 'omo', 'ithead, or 'ocksucker'.

It's just a little bit of history repeating. In 1993 it was also Dem infighting that, thankfully, killed the government takeover of health care.

Can being laid off really make you better off?

www.msnbc.msn.com

Isn't being ladi of great? GoObama! Go chronic unemployment! This will be Obama's 9% 11% problem, the unemployment rate.

Remember that in the 60s the Democrats could not even push through the Civil Rights Bill without the Republican votes as not enough Dems would vote for it.

Now the current 'health' bill seems doomed as not enough Dems once again will no vote for it :)

If being ladi off makes you healthy, then let's lay everyone off and then we won't need health care reform.

I was always told, si el trabajo es la salud, que trabajen los enfermos (if working is healthy, let the sick work), this is contradictory, and I am confused.

#10 | Posted by MSgt

"Health Care Reform" has little to do with the opposition to it. Screw the American people and vote down a bill to make Obama look bad. That's all it is. 5% of people might choose a 'public option' and that has the right all fired up?

Fine, pay $20,000 in 5 years and $30,000 in 10, or watch your job get outsourced or insurance dropped period because neither you nor your employer can afford it anymore. People don't stop to think they might get better raises now and then if insurance wasn't so expensive. Duh.

If the makers of the H1N1 vaccine have protection from lawsuits, then why the hell shuld people risk injecting that unproven untested substance into their body without any legal recourse if anything goes wrong? No thank you. To quote Teresa Heinz Kerry, "shove it!"

Does anyone believe the Obama brats really got the H1N1 vaccine? There is no way to verify it.

YA -HOOOOOO !

Two dumps for me !!!!!!

C'mon - somebody try to irk me!

"YA -HOOOOOO !"

I prefer Google.

GoObama! Go chronic unemployment!

Go Bush!

Go 3 American million jobs sent overseas in the name of "(one sided) free trade" never to return.

Go Bush!

The fellow who intentionally let the corporations run amok with NO rules, NO regulations and, who when elected, stated "I'm a gonna run this government just like a business" (err, think "Harken Energy" which collapsed under Bush's leadership).

Go Bush!

The man whose policies in large part were the cause of the collapse of the U.S. manufacturing base -- up until that time the best in the world -- and helped take down the American middle class along with it.

Oh yes, "Go Bush" and keep on going -- as far away from political office as possible.

CC, Bush wanted those 3 million people to lead more healthy virtous lives, don't tyou understand how good it is to be unemployed?

No, I don't.

Yes they did. I hope you don't have any "Brats." Your seed does not deserve to reproduce (unless it's your colon buddy...)

"IRK: to annoy, provoke, anger, bother, frustrate"

Hey, that happens the minute one logs in on DR.

Besides, if you got dumped look at all the laughs I'd miss!

A Georgia Democratic Congressman was seated next to a little girl, whose parents were Republicans on the airplane leaving from Atlanta when he turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.'

The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the total stranger, 'What would you like to talk about? Oh, I don't know,' said the southern Dem congressman. 'How about global warming or universal health care', and he smiles smugly.

OK, she said. 'Those could be interesting topics. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?'

The southern Dem legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, 'Hmmm, I have no idea.' To which the little girl replies, 'Do you really feel qualified to discuss global warming or universal health care when you don't know shit?

Apparently Sarah Palin is also hiding something "huge".... a pie?

Sarah Palin is the owner of a small marketing business called "Pie Spy" that was founded during her last few months as Alaska governor, according to financial records released on Tuesday.

Pie Spy is described as a business involving "Services for the Elderly and and Persons with Disabilities" in documents filed with the Alaska Department of Commerce. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the LLC's address is that of Palin's Anchorage lawyer Thomas Van Flein.

Pie Spy is listed in the same disclosure statement that revealed Palin's $1.25 million advance from HarperCollins for her upcoming memoir Going Rogue. The filing covers her family's finances from Jan. 1 to July 27, her last months in office.

Politico's Ben Smith reports that Pie Spy was incorporated in March and that Palin's spokeswoman Meg Stapleton and lawyer Thomas Van Flein did not respond to questions about the business.

defines liberalism as "meeting the material needs of the masses through the full power of centralized government."

"obama cant move policy forward with all the time he spends on the links"

Lots of business gets conducted on golf courses.

Had a passing thought about Joe Lieberman, wonder if he is angling to get the idea of taking away the insurance industy's exemption from anti-trust laws dropped.

"The profit motive has become outmoded. It must be replaced by the incentives of the welfare state."

Riiight, that's why the insurance industry gives Lieberman so much money to sell out his constituents.

the full power of centralized government"this was the very thing the Founding Fathers sought to minimize. They knew that governments don't control things. A government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they know when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. They also knew, those Founding Fathers, that outside of its legitimate functions, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector of the economy.

Are you retard? Or just paid to be here? Both? Figures. Did you even read the article, idiot?

The study was concluded prior to Obama becoming President. It occured over a number of years. It measured the relative happiness of the people specifically from Boeing. It determined that those who were laid off often got new jobs, even if they paid less, and were happier there. Why can't you read? Stupid Republicans.

Joe L is doing exactly what we constituents want.

I am not sure where you get the idea that his constituents are being sold out by him

he is hugely popular.

then again I don't care to try and figure out where you get any of your numbskulled ideas from.

Bwah ha ha !

...No. They didn't know any of that. The who idea of Capitalism was still in its infancy. Mercantalism was the name of the game. Why did they minimize Federal power? Because they had to pass the damn thing through a bunch of states who wanted and were accustomed to complete autonomy. They didn't even have a single currency yet!

But as a former Democrat, I can tell you Norman Thomas isn't the only man who has drawn this parallel to socialism with the present administration, because back in 1936, Mr. Democrat himself, Al Smith, the great American, came before the American people and charged that the leadership of his Party was taking the Party of Jefferson, Jackson, and Cleveland down the road under the banners of Marx, Lenin, and Stalin. And he walked away from his Party, and he never returned til the day he died because to this day, the leadership of that Party has been taking that Party, that honorable party, down the road in the image of the labor Socialist Party of England.

This is a man who, in his own business before he entered politics, instituted a profit-sharing plan before unions had ever thought of it. He put in health and medical insurance for all his employees. He took 50 percent of the profits before taxes and set up a retirement program, a pension plan for all his employees. He sent monthly checks for life to an employee who was ill and couldn't work. He provides nursing care for the children of mothers who work in the stores. When Mexico was ravaged by the floods in the Rio Grande, he climbed in his airplane and flew medicine and supplies down there.

who was this man?

Afk--#5--your point is?

"we dont know who or when but its coming.,"

If you don't know who or when, then what the fuck are you talking about?

Wouldn't it be a bitch if Obama turned out to the Democratic Reagan? (Teflon anyone?)

There are as many Jews living in the US as there are in Isreal. And no, I'm not one of them.

How about if I said Obama's constituents aren't from the US, they live in Africa. Would that sound a little racist to you?

In an interview with CBS's "Early Show," Levi Johnston continued the war against Sarah Palin he has been waging almost daily on his Twitter account. He reiterated negative revelations he made about Palin in a recent Vanity Fair piece, saying that her daughter Bristol played the mom role in her children's lives, and that Palin repeatedly referred to her son Trig as her "retarded baby."

www.politicsdaily.com|main|dl1|link4|http%3A%2F% 2Fwww.politicsdaily.com% 2F2009%2F10%2F28%2Fvideo-levi- johnston-says-hes-holding- back-huge-things-about%2F

An Englishman, American, and Irishman, all walk into a bar and order a beer. The bartender hands them there beer, however there are flies in each mug of beer.

Well the Englishman pushes the beer aside and says, "That's disgusting."

The American pulls the fly out and starts drinking the beer.

The Irishman pulls the fly out, sets it on the counter and shouts, "SPIT IT OUT YOU BASTARD."

I wonder if anyone else is going as "naked Lee Atwater except for his dick and balls in a sock" this Halloween.

A little outspokenness is a good thing, but when you're saying inflammatory things on a regular basis you run the risk of Ann Coulterizing yourself.

Whatever happened to Johnson, that crazy racist bastard?

Yankee run line just got hammered. Down to +120 if anyone is wating to make a bet. Better hurry though.

BuffaloBob

Is it snowing now in Ohio? How cold is it?

Whatever happened to Johnson, that crazy racist bastard?

But you miss him, don't ya!

I liked Johnson. Very intelligent guy whether or not you agreed with some of his opinions.

Everyone gave him such a hard time, though, he probably gave up and left.

Rumors are flying that Kate Hudson is pregnant with the baby of Alex Rodriguez. If she is,I hope that she can deliver better in the clutch than he does.

Was Johnson the guy who left in a tiff a week or so ago, claiming to have built the site, etc.?

Nope that was Rex Zeitgeist.

The Friday Night Music thread guy.

"Tiny" Johnson was kinda like if Archie Bunker owned a thesaurus.

A racist who continually claimed he wasn't around his objectionable and highly specious postings.

Be Well.

Thanks, Larry.

No shit. I was thinking the same thing after I read what Danni said. That was just blatant racism if you ask me.

I agree. I liked him too. It was refreshing to read something well written and thought out whether you agreed with it or not.

nope

but me and murph and the others from the right have been able to make this a site where you are only exponged for sounding dangerous or harmfull with no regard for opinion..

as I and others have said on several occasions..
without us this becomes another huffington post/daily kos.
you know...a liberal circle jerk

and you are quite welcome.....

"I guess anti semetic remarks isnt in the playbook anymore for those people"

Why is questioning Israel in any way the same as anti-Semitism. (Though the crack you were responding to was a stretch. Clearly, Joe L has supporters in Connecticut. I even know some of them. *sigh*)

I'm glad there is divergent opinion here, btw. Otherwise, I wouldn't come here. But you know, you gotta do better if you want conversation. Ranting at each other isn't it. Sometimes, Afk, you and I have had actual discussion. At other times, you just yell at me. (Very occasionally, I've snapped at you. Admittedly.)

The site would be a nicer place to visit (not that we always have to be nice) if we all tried harder to discuss issues rather than attack and undermine one another. But as JJ and I discussed yesterday, that's not likely. Granted, I'd like to think we could be more rational than the rank-and-file whiners, but... it is what it is. (As one of you pointed out to me months ago.)
