Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

If/when the healthcare legislation is signed into law by President Obama, it will be the single biggest legislative action of the past 30 years. President Obama will have achieved a greater victory for the American people in less than one year than anyone arguably since LBJ's social reforms of the '60s.
How will the rightwing possibly continue to argue that he is a "do-nothing" president? (Cuz you know they will.) How will the rightwing possibly continue to argue that he not achieved huge necessary tasks? (Cuz you know they will.)
The fact is, in less than one year in office President Obama may prove to be among the most accomplished leaders this country has seen in my lifetime. Which is really something when you consider how eager the GOPhers have been to declare him a failure.

No matter how the Limbaughs of the Right try to spin it, President Obama is on the verge of a historic breakthrough for the American people which in one fell swoop will justify so much of the hope so many of us have pave had for his presidency.

Bankrupting America is indeed a historic achievement. But he shouldn't get all the credit, he is just continuing Bush's work.

Ah. They will respond with bitterness, sarcasm and lies. Of course. How obvious.

But is that really saying much?

Good point HC. Hard to make the argument that RR or GWB et all really raised the bar that high in the first place.

Obama's "accomplishments" should be compared to those of Presidents who enjoyed similarly overwhelming majorities in the House and Senate. Let me know when you plan on doing that.

-But is that really saying much?

At least cynicism hasn't yet set in.

Here's the Obameter..... it's running.

www.politifact.com

Teddy Roosevelt had this legislation in his 1912 Bull Moose Party platform, FDR tried to pass it, as did other Dem Presidents this century.

But when Obama does it?
It isn't enough, or he had it "easier".

The whining is pathetic.

Corky, your point is so obvious that any honest observer has to acknowledge the historic leadership reflected by this legislation. And it is driving the GOP absolutely friggin nuts.

Rah, Rah. Let's celebrate. Who's buying?

We all are buying. (Even you.) Every last tax paying American. Which in part is what makes this such a wonderful egalitarian achievement.

What does Obama even have to do with this? He hasn't even authored a bill. Signing a bill, any bill doesn't constitue heavy lifting. So he happened to occupy the big chair. Whoop de fucking do.

Which is almost as fun as getting the legislation.

When I promoted Hillary in the primary, one reason (other than 16 years of Demn Pres) was that I knew it would drive the Tighties bonkers.

Little did I realize how a successful black Socialist Muslin could do the same..... and with Hil as SoS!

As if we would have this Bill coming out without him. Denial is not only a river in Egypt, eh?

C'mon Wis, be honest. This health care bill is firstly and lastly President Obama's signature piece of legislation of his first term in office. But for his election, his sponsorship, his lobbying and his campaigning for such a program, it would never have happened. (Which is why rightwingers blame him so intensely for the legislation in the first place.)

#10 | Posted by moder8 - more like a megalomaniacal attempt at achievement.

Reagan occupies the big chair and we get war and support for terrorists. Bush the 1st occupies the big chair and we get war and support for terrorists. Bush the second occupies the big chair and we get war and more war and debt out the ass. Obama occupies the big chair and we get health care coverage for all Americans--and rightists think Obama is the bad guy.

There's more water in this water downed bill than exists in the Nile. And Reid is still pouring.

Obama occupies the big chair and we get health care coverage for all Americans-

don't live in the future dumbshit.

you are crazy enough just living in today's time.

I guess you never look ahead. It shows, moron. That you think I'm crazy is the ultimate compliment coming from such a little mind. Thank you, thank you very much.

Thanks

moder8 is following suite by giving praise and adoration to accomplishments yet to be realized. Even if it is wrong for the country, the praise flows because he might accomplish something...anything...so they can feel their vote was nothing more than a vote of "present".

Impending Historic Accomplishment

???

You sound like the parents of all those bratty kids that reward in anticipation of good behavior as apposed to for good behavior.

Either that or your a Nobel Prize Committee member.

The truth, the reason most rightwingers are upset with this legislation has more to do with politics than substance. It burns them up that a Democrat can claim credit for this historic turn of events in America. Screaming "Socialism" and so forth is just a smokescreen. It is pure Party over Country at it's bare bones clearest.

How will the rightwing possibly continue to argue that he is a "do-nothing" president? (Cuz you know they will.)
* * * *

I thought it was libbies saying that.

I'll agree with the premise, though--Obama is well on his way to being a transformative president. History is full of similar examples. Especially European history.

Aren't we celebrating a little bit early? The last I heard this current bill doesn't have enough votes. If that's the case then I guess we were right about this do nothing administration. Snowe has pulled out too. The only republican on board has jumped ship. Democrats are following her too.

Phony poll numbers won't even help this titanic ship float.
