That's just bad, top 40 country, Chris.
Here:
South Side Of Heaven
My original hometown.
The old man in the car was the artist who created the album cover for The Eagles Greatist Hits and others...
Its a prettier place than the cinematography suggests.

Jak, I listened to Ryan Bingham late last night. Came back on this thread later on and clicked on your link. Never heard of him before until you played his "South Side of Heaven" for me. Thought he was terrific -- so good in fact I ordered his "Mescalito" album today from Amazon.
First singer I thought of was -- naturally -- a young Bob Dylan -- style, sound, but this guy has something special about him. A gritty kind of style that's appealing and comes through in his voice.
His music interested me enough to look up more about him. Did you know he's now headed out my way to live in Topanga Canyon, California? Topanga Canyon is about 40 minutes north of Los Angeles. Kind of a rustic, winding canyon area with cabins and homes nestled in different spots. Lots of artists and musician types live and hang out there.
I think coming to CA might be a wise career move for him. Living in Topanga Canyon he'll be less than an hour from all the major movie studios out here. NBC and the television studios are all out here too. I doubt he'd be interested in hassling New York so CA is probably a good bet for him to get some publicity and better recording chances.
He does come through with a voice that sounds like he lives a Western outdoor kind of life -- gives credibility to the West Texas sort of hard life his bio described.
You said the video really didn't do justice to the countryside of West Texas seen on the video -- dry and dusty looking. I believe you, even though I've never seen Texas. Like a number of places, you actually have to live there to appreciate the sunrises, sunsets, and other rustic beauty which I'm guessing is what you meant by it being prettier than the video showed?
This article in Wikipedia about Ryan Bingham said he's from Hobbs, New Mexico. So is that the original home town you mentioned?
Cool fact about the older guy driving the truck being the one creating the Eagles album cover. I LOVE the Eagles. I bought Ryan Bingham's album so I'll have some good driving music to listen to when I leave CA and will be putting plenty of miles on my car. I like to drive and when I have good music to listen to at the same time I can drive for miles.
Anyway, got to run now but THANKS for turning me on to Ryan Bingham and his album. Should be receiving "Mescalito" by the end of the week.
