Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

About 300 protesters outside a Montreal hotel blew plastic horns, tossed shoes and burned George W. Bush in effigy Thursday as the former U.S. president spoke to a luncheon of the Montreal Board of Trade. Bush was "an alleged war criminal for his invasion of Iraq and torturing prisoners of war," said protester Joan Hadrill of the Raging Grannies.

Imagine 300 French-Canadians who don't take showers taking their shoez off! Yuck!

They'll all be heading south after this to have their fucking feet treated in the U.S. for frostbite.

The Golden Shoe award for courage in journalism has yet to be awarded in 2009.

And frostbite treatments are not only better but far cheaper Up North. herm.

Why is Dubya afraid to speak in the US? Or is it like Palin, nobody thinks he's worth the money.

Maybe a good time to be a traveling shoe salesman.

Interesting way to treat an ex POTUS, no matter what his administration did. Setting the stage for the rage of the 3rd worldization of the US after the Big Zero is voted out in '12?

I would have guessed anyone as insipid as a Bush would seem like kin to Canadians. Dan Quayle must appear as sinister a Marx up there.

See if you can duck this Dumbya.

That is ridiculous.

Wonder what they'll be throwing at Obama.

Danni - "No matter what his administration did???
That is ridiculous."

No, actually it's not, and it goes along the same lines of treating all ex-Presidents civilly. No matter how much the Liberalistas whine and cry, George W. Bush was President for 8 years, he does get speaking engagements, and people ought to treat the man with some modicum of respect.

This goes for ANY ex-President. I may have political differences with President Obama, and I think President Carter is just about insane, but if I ever met either of them, I would be honored. Only 44 men in our history have ever made it to become the US President, and that is saying something.

All of the continuous bashing of George W. Bush just because the man breathes says more about how Liberalistas don't have the guts to look at Obama's policies truthfully and have nothing constructive to say about the Bush years than it says about George W. Bush and his eight years keeping our country safe from people who would just as soon cut our throats.

The people throwing shoes outside the Bush speech aren't worthy enough to carry his.

If I am wrong, why have there not been any major terrorist attacks against stuff in the US since 2001?

Laughable in light of Bush's statements about BL and calling off Tora Bora

Sad. That people spend so much time and effort complaining about and castigating Bush. Will any of it solve the problems we face? Do they want Bush back in power to fix what they allege he single handedly broke? I didn't think so. Ergo, all the whining about Bush does absolutely nothing to make any difference now.

The man was never fit to be president, so how can he be fit to be an ex-president? He shouldn't venture abroad where being the ex-president does not entitle him automatically to respect no matter whether he deserves it or not. There they will treat him on merit.

He should stay in his privileged Dallas enclave and work on his library. They like him there.

I LOVE you Canucks!

Only thing that might make it even better are a good pair of stilettos.

hey how many time's were we attackrd during the clinton day's?

George's life seems so pathetic now. At least Cheney is still foaming at the mouth.

"hey how many time's were we attackrd during the clinton day's?"

Once .. two months into his Presidency. All terrorists caught.

Cheney foams at the mouth because he still has an audience, and he can speak in sentences, no matter what garbage and revisionist crap he spouts- people listen. Former President Bush is a nervous nelly who has no idea what to say or how to say it, but somehow he thinks he has to raise money, which of course he doesn't actually have to do. He is being told he is "useful" by people who know he isn't, like (poor) Laura and his ridiculous daughters, and they have to keep making him think he is not totally irrelevant and keep him "happy". But in his inner self, if there is anything there, he knows he is a terribly sad, self-hating and very pathetic creature, who can't even get a hug out of his big monstrous Mom. So if some Canadian outfit offers him the dosh, he is there, feeling "better". My heart bleeds for him, the worst ever President of the United States of America, the country he loves to pretend to love.

To hell with Chimpy! If he ever dares to show his face in Chicago I will throw a couple shoes in his general direction!

Would be worth 400 to see him duck!

I didn't think so. Ergo, all the whining about Bush does absolutely nothing to make any difference now.

Bush is referenced because republicans would like to blame all his faults and the problems he caused on Obama. Conservatives are trying to make people forget about Bush so they can get back in power and continue their destruction of America as Bush tried so hard to do during his 8 years.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. We must never forget the horror that was the Bush Presidency. Every problem we have today is laid directly at his feet, and the people who were duped into voting for him.

BHO is the same as Bush, just different skin color. He is carrying on the same policies. He promised the get us out of these wars and is sending more troops. He promised to close gitmo instead he is holding more prisoners based on future crimes they have yet to commit.

We need to get the hell out of these countries and stop wasting money. We can use the money for better health care and job creation. BHO --- BUSH one in the same. So sad really. So much for change and hope.

First one was barely a month after his inauguration.......perps brought to justice

Second one>domestic>perps brought to justice

Third one>attack on military

4th one=attack on military, perps brought to justice

5th one-us embassy attacks, some perps brought to justice

6th one-attack on military....uss cole.....obl linked, other perps caught, convicted and incarcerated but escaped in 2007 thanks to yemen...

seems like maybe law enforcement and diplomacy works better to defeat and not increase terrorism than attacking, invading and occupying countries that didn't attacks us, eh?

Ok, I'll bite. Which country did Obama invade and occupy?

His campaign promise was to remove us troops from iraqnam, disengaging them from combat roles, and turn security over to iraqis within 15 months, (May 2010).

He is on track to do this.

Hyperbole equating bush failures to Obama who inherited them are contrary to logic.

Sad. That people spend so much time and effort complaining about and castigating people who complain about and castigate Bush. Will any of it solve the problems we face? Do they want Bush back in power to continue what he single-handedly broke? I think so, but that won't happen. Ergo, all the whining about people who complain about and castigate Bush does absolutely nothing to make any difference now.

Republicans would like nothing better than that people forget about Bush and Cheney so they can run more Nazis and nincompoops for national office. Right now the top Republican candidate for president in 2012 is Palin. Another nincompoop. However, she is the very best the Republicans have.

However, she is the very best the Republicans have.

How do you know? Four years ago would you have been so bold as to predict Obama in the WH today?

I get a kick out of people who say so and so is the best. I've pondered why people do that and I have come to the conclusion it's simply wishful thinking because they know the way Obama is going, he has a very real chance of not being re-elected unless he is running against a loser. So the left continues to yell, "Run, sara, run" if for no other reason than to make themselves feel better.

However, she is the very best the Republicans have."

The last I heard she wanted to be a syndicated radio/TV female shock jock and rake in all those $$millions like Rush Limbaugh.

However, Goat is right. "She is the best (right now)" won't mean a damn thing in 2012.

Appropriate way to treat an ex POTUS, in light of what his administration did.

He wasn't so bad as......hallichainy?

I could agree with that, except he allowed hallichainy to call many of the shots that doomed his regime (and our country) to failure.....invading iraqnam, torture and rendition, spying on Americans with no probable cause, outing our own cia ops for political retribution, setting up Douglas Feith in the cia to focus solely on iraq "intell"., etc...etc....etc...

Allowing hallichainy free reign, makes lilaWol just as culpable.
