Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Some Christians are so willing to believe rumors that reflect well on their heroes and poorly on their opponents that they abandon even a modest concern for the veracity of the rumors. Yet the Bible clearly prohibits "bearing false witness" and spreading rumors and gossip. Perhaps Christians who spread such rumors think they serve a greater purpose, as if the end justifies the means, some ethicists speculate.

Do they have a point?

Is this closer to the point?

Christians are not necessarily any more gullible than the population at large -- and there's the rub, said Bill Tillman, a Christian-ethics professor at Hardin-Simmons University's Logsdon Seminary, a Texas Baptist school.

"Their gullibility seems to follow the culture's levels and channels of gullibility," Tillman said. "That similarity should give Christians pause to think: If I am no different than the surrounding culture on the treatment of e-mails and communication they carry, with what else am I no different?

"I do think that, like the larger culture, some Christians do follow certain patterns that reflect where their theological ideas parallel their political ideologies."

Ask DANNI about gullibility - if it comes from the Democrap party she believes it - and I don't think she is a Christian.

What does rumor-mongering say about the rumor-mongers?

Can you be among the chosen, as some/many (Christians) believe they are, if you act like or maybe worse then the un-chosen?

What it says is they are not real Christians.

Just like the ones that want to make public prayer required.

So, how does bullshitting us into a war in Iraq reflect on Bush's faith?

If he lied, yes.

Love the Bush deflection too. I've heard for 8 years that Bush is Satan. Now, his name is invoked every time a libtard needs to justify Obama's duplicity and incompetence.

"Oh yeah! Well, so was Bush!"

Hope and change! Gobama!

Why do some people without faith attack people with faith? Why do some people with faith try to 'save' others who may not want to hear it?

This story is nothing more than trying to make some people feel good about their position and belittle people of faith, and is just as annoying as people feel they are saved, and everyone else is a horrible person.

This shit shouldn't even be discussed, let people believe what they wanna believe.

Oh, and everyone is a fucking hypocrite and rumor mongerer, no faith/party/race/gender has a monopoly on it.

"let people believe what they wanna believe."

Most would agree with you Andy, the question is why accept and disseminate information no questions asked?

Mike - because people have ideological blinders. It affects people from all groups. I have my own, if I hear an anti-gun story I automatically try to think of why the story is false.

If someone doesn't own a gun the no sweat off my sack but if someone comes in saying I shouldn't own a gun, then I would argue.

That's the problem with super religious and super anti religious types, they have the same blinders we all do but feel the need to attempt to break through the blinders of others, and just ends up making them look like hoity toity idiots.

I've had a little too much Bud Light Golden Wheat but the point I'm trying to make is that most religious people and agnostic and atheists I know are all very good people who live their own life, but a few rotten apples spoil the reputation for their group.

I don't like attacks on whole groups of Christians because in my experience they are (mostly) decent hardworking people.

Bud lite....The American Belgium Beer
Friggin King of beer (KING OF COMMERCIALS)

Drink A truly American brew...

The Yenling... Since 1829.....

An AMERICAN brew

Note the linked article comes from the Baptist Press. How come I never see atheists capable of such self-criticism and what does that say about atheists as a whole? Intellectually dishonest, perhaps?

If he lied, yes.

Still in denial.

"Some Christians are so willing to believe rumors that reflect well on their heroes and poorly on their opponents "

I think that pretty much goes for everyone, though, doesn't it?

"I think that pretty much goes for everyone, though, doesn't it?"

Yes. Look at how many Muslims believe Israel attacked us on 9/11. But being an anit-Christian bigot passes for intellectualism is some circles.

And being an anti-non-Christian bigot passes for holiness in some circles. Ultimately, what's the difference, is my point.

"I've had a little too much Bud Light Golden Wheat but the point I'm trying to make is that most religious people and agnostic and atheists I know are all very good people who live their own life, but a few rotten apples spoil the reputation for their group."

Just like many beers are good but Bud Lite spoils their reputations? Okay, okay! I really meant Miller Lite, the champagne of urine samples.

So, how does bullshitting us into a war in Iraq reflect on Bush's faith?

That's on Jesus. He told Dubya to invade. Obviously didn't tell him to win, though. Sort of offering George a seat at His Father's table, then pulling the chair out when he went to sit down.
Jesus, what a joker.
