Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Italian fascist leader Benito Mussolini was a British spy in 1917 - paid to write newspaper articles during the First World War, a Cambridge University historian said quoting recently-uncovered archival material. Mussolini, who later became an ally of Hitler during the Second World War, was paid 100 pounds a week to write articles to keep up the pro-war campaigning, historian Peter Martland said.

My favorite things about Mussolini are:

*His decision to colonize Ethiopa
*Hilarious attempt at taking Greece without German help
*General ineptitued of the Italian army under his command causing Germany to divert resources that could otherwise be used on the Eastern Front to bail out Benito in North Africa.

Mussolini was a riot.

That would explain the upsey daisy imagery of his demise.

Smallest Book in the World?

Book of Italian war heroes.

knowing that a sentiment to "make italy great again" led to fascism's rise in italy 80 years ago, one could make a strong case that the roots of fascism start in actions that come across as simultaneously revolutionary and traditionalist in nature-- like tea parties for instance.

that is not to say most of the teabaggers would openly support fascism if asked...

...but fasicsm is something one filled with pride, nationalism, and militarism slowly slips into rather unknowingly.

I recently saw a book at Barnes and Noble called, "Successes of the Bush Administration". It was 850 pages in length...

...but 849 of those pages were blank. The only page that had writing was page 850 which contained specific instructions for future republican historical revisionists to fill in the blank pages at a later date.

As opposed to big ears agenda to lead us down a road of totalitarianism? Socialism? Communism? The road to hell is paved with good intentions nerf. Go back to your wii and stop trolling with ridiculous comparisons between tea baggers and fascism - next you will be comparing Bush to Hitler.

The smallest book I have seen at B&N was the report from the Nobel committee outlining Obama's qualifications for the award.

Italians rule!

Whistle while you work
Hitler was a jerk
Mussolini bit his weenie
Now it doesn't work
anonymous circa 1944

Actually, they do rule

They are the enlightened ones, great spies and infiltrators.

Hitler actually came from Britain also, he was put into position as chancelor of the then united nations "reichstag" by the elite.

Look up reichstag on wikipedia.

Fascism is an old term as old as Rome.
Rome from the ceasar's on, was a fascist state, its symbol was a budle of reeds tied together by one cord of control. A bundle of reeds is not easily broken while one reed can be easily broken.

they actually use fascia (reed bundles) in war to protect against the sharpest swords, they couldn't cut through it.

For millenia, through the dark ages the world was fascist, all the individual states and kings were "bundled" controlled by the central authoritarian rope in europe. see REICHSTAG in wikipedia.

ELCIDCE90 you are a wrinkled partisan tool. thank goodness i'm not and i can recognize your type of phoniness even at the tender age of 18. now go back to tickling your uvula with dubya's 4 inch legacy...

wrinkled partisan tool

Don't overestimate my age and I won't over estimate your intelligence. Deal?

Again, read this and then grow up.

en.wikipedia.org

How's that new surfing game for the wii working out for ya? BTW - bush lost my "allegence" long before his term ended. As he lost so many conservatives throughout his term as a neocon. I am a Reagan conservative not a bush one. You can look up Reagan if you have to as you were barely a zygote when he was president.

ELCIDCE90, when you use age to insist you are right (which you aren't), you comes across as a wrinkled partisan tool. you know what? reagan is DEAD. and so is his party. who did you vote for in the last election? mccain? obama? reagan? i was too young too vote, but most people who vote have no clue who they are actually voting for, and do not realize its a broken system that needs a major overhaul.

you want to resuscitate the reagan era? start a revolution. get up off your fat ass pull up your dragging sack and start one, smart guy. otherwise you are just another middle aged whiner. climb into your casket and pine for the good ol' days but get outta my way, cuz i'm your country's future for better or for worse.

If you like chick-staches.

"If you like chick-staches."

Hey! Some of us take care of that problem.

You're just jealous that we have more testosterone than you do!

Hey,
to all you WW2 fans in general

Check out

Dan Carlin,
Hard Core History podcast.

its really quite good, he just finished a 3 part show (about 3 hours long end to end) about the osterfront.

really cool stuff.

As for italian heroes, he goes into alot of that with his show about the Punic Wars.

Really well done and engaging. Not dry at all.

Reconstitute the Reagan Administration? Why? Don't the mad ayatollahs in Iran have enough missiles?

The British military reportedly wore red coats so that blood wouldn't show-giving an aura of invincibility. That's why the Italian army wore brown pants.

If you like chick-staches.

No respect for your elders eh nerf? As I stated before, when your dick gets wet come back to the DR. You, like so many piss poor raised youth of today, never understand that those who fail to acknowledge the past and learn from it are doomed to repeat it. Nothing, NOTHING, this administration or the past two have proposed or executed have been new. Same policies, same methodologies, same failed doctrine.

I would agree most people do not know who they voted for - only voted on emotion or who their racist pastor told them to vote for. I knew exactly who I voted for - NOT OBAMA. Unfortunately that was the only choice come November.

Get off my ass and start one? You, like most libtard feel good pants pissers, fail to realize that normal everyday hardworking folks do not have the time to go to DC to protest the habitats of the squeaking owl.

Go back to your wii and watching transformers or whatever poorly written drivel that passes for entertainment for children these days - and yes you are a child. You may consider yourself educated but at 18 your still a child. Get some life experience under your belt - support yourself and be responsible for someone else and then revisit your ideas. Until then, while your opinions do matter, they are adolescent and too idealistic for the real world. As history shows. You can look it up.
