The Rev. Al Sharpton wants the National Football League to block conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh from bidding on the St. Louis Rams. Sharpton complained Limbaugh is divisive and some of his comments are "anti-NFL."

I wonder how he felt about Michael Vick?

Why? Is Tawana Brawley making an offer?

I'll bet that Limbaugh has more anti-Sharpton comments than anti-NFL comments

Good to see the race pimp still has werk.

Let's start applying a conservative/liberal litmus test toward every sports franchise owner, every coach, and every player.

The mentally ill hypocrites of the hard left are trying to milk this cancerous teat for all it's worth, even trotting out tired ol race pimp Sharpton to give it a tug.

The left is full of sick, subhuman, animals.

Just hire the POS. Make him the Asst. to the Traveling Secretary...

but, soros is o.k., right?

Anyone who cares whether Limbaugh owns the Rams has too much free time.

Money talks. The NFL listens.

As for one's politics and owning a franchise... the Bucks have been owned by Senator Herb Kohl for some time.
en.wikipedia.org

Many, many others have been outspoken on a wide variety of topics... from the George Steinbrenners to the Marge Schotts in baseball... to Kohl to Cuban to Donald Sterling in the NBA. And those are just a handful which came to mind.

I hear Rush would be a minority owner anyway...

FF for Oohrah...

Sharpton has way too much time on his hands.

'Anti NFL' statements?

What is he talking about? McNabb?

That's an observation or opinion--of nothing important.

The left is so intolerant--it's really amusing.

"The left is so intolerant"

How dare they be intolerant of intolerance!

"In addition, Sharpton wrote that Limbaugh's "recent statement that the NFL was beginning to look like a fight between the Crips and the Bloods without the weapons was disturbing."

Hi! My name is Al Sharpton. And if my checkered past doesn't ruin my credibility, then this last statement surely does! and it shows whose really ignant!

Al, Al, Al....STFU.

The "racisim" issue in this country is fueled by those who are trying to "stop" it. God forbid we all really got along, then what would Sharpton and Jackson so for a living?

The last thing these race baiting pieces of shit want to see is all of actuly getting along. It is amazing that the people they "protect" can't see this.

"Morris said he does not oppose Limbaugh's bid but warned the radio host that he is "walking into a bees' nest here when he's walking in with these young brothers who think it's racism that they can't jump into the NBA when they are 18, and they have to go to college.""

Has Morris lost it or have I? L. James went in straight out of HS. He must have ment NFL or it's a mis-quote?!?

One of my favorite things on the Limbaugh show is Al & Jesse as the "Justice Brothers".

When the fans finally realize how stupid pro football is at least they can have a few laughs listening to Rush bloviating at half time.

Unequivocally not a fan of Limbaugh but got no reason why he shouldn't be able to do this. How many current owners have political perspectives fans, coaches, players and team staff would not agree with?

And Al Sharpton cares that Limbaugh owns a piece of the Rams because...

Hell Rush, buy the Bills. Maybe you can turn them around for me.

Marge Schott with her racist bullshit was an embarrassment to MLB. Rush would be the same only worse.

Rush would be the same only worse.

But it will be fun watching the left whine about him.

"it will be fun watching the left whine about him."

Will it be just as much fun merely quoting facts?

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."
"I have simply said that their desire for McNabb to do well has caused them to rate him a little higher than perhaps he actually is"
~RL

Using raw numbers alone, McNabb ranks with:

Mark Brunell, Roger Staubach*, Steve McNair, Troy Aikman*, Terry Bradshaw*, Jim Everett, Jim Kelly*, Joe Namath*, Trent Green, Ken Stabler

* = Hall of Famer

Will it be just as much fun merely quoting facts?

Sure. I think Rush is funny, too -- in an idiotic sort of way. Can't have too much humor.

I think Rush Limbaugh should buy Al Sharpton.

I think Rush Limbaugh should buy Al Sharpton.

Rush is an idiot, but my guess is that he already owns Al Sharpton who is even a bigger idiot.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO!!!!!

Not a story where I have to choose between detesting Rush Limbaugh or Al Sharpton!

Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

St. Louis is 0-4.

Perfect team for a drug addict draft dodger to own....

Just wonder how many players will claim to be out of action due to butt boils?

"The left is full of sick, subhuman, animals."

As is the right.

Rex is living proof of that.

media.youthoutlook.org

(Paul Mooney mentions Al Sharpton.)

The problem with Rush buying Al (beside the whole slavery issue) is what would you do with that much hot air and fertilizer?

You do know that Fox hired Don Imus.

Rush offered an opinion that the media (at large)is
desirous to have a black quarterback perform well.

If these aren't the insane rantings of a Ku Klux
Klansman, I don't know what is. Go big Al!

Be Well.

Friggin' Leftist Fascists want to shut up everyone who is not one of their clones.

well its a good thing that the Chairman Of Being Black weighed in on this.

Else how would we know what to think!?

I can't stand Rush Limbaugh, i think the guy is utterly cynical demagogue, as in he tells gullible people he thinks something stupid even when he knows its stupid and regardless of whether he believes it. and not to accomplish a policy goal, but to line his own pockets.

But none of this has anything to do with whether or not he should be allowed to own a team.

If he has the cash to back it up, he should be allowed to buy one.

He isnt a drug cartel kingpin, (though that might make his life easier) and he isnt some mob boss trying to launder funds from criminal activity.

If he is blocked from owning a team because of his views then it is a political decision, and one that is not correct in this country.

If he is blocked from having a team because he isnt financially capable of ensuring that it will remain viable, well thats understandable.

Go find your tin foil hat and hide in your mom's basement, You useless jackass.
Contribute an actual point, dont just yell at people and call them names.

Al Sharpton's views shouldn't count any more towards whether or not the team is bought or sold than Rush's views.

If players and coaches really believe that he is a racist. Then, he wont get players and coaches to play for him.

He will have to sell the team again if that occurs.
However, the guy is wealthy, he is a huge fan of football, and what huge fan of football wouldnt want to own a team if he had the scratch to do it.

so i say, let him buy it.

Anyone who thinks he is going to trot out an all white team is delusional.

ahh shit, my post got all wonked up with copy paste..

i realised i was feeding the troll, and had intended to delete that part =(

Who the fuck cares what the man buys with his money?

Who the fuck cares what the man buys with his money?

The NFL who has a brand to protect. The players. The player's union and intelligent Americans that choose to voice their concerns over a man who's words speak for him.

He's not this stupid. He's going to ride the controversy with his listeners.

The NFL will never allow Limbaugh any ownership.

AL Crapton is showing his ignorance, as well as his racism.
If he wants to stop Limbaugh so much, why don't he fork over some of that racist NAACP money and buy the Rams out of Limbaugh's grasp???

Rush Limbaugh would be perfect for the role. Who better could get the best out of them big black bucks?

Sharpton. Now there's a race-dividing POS everybody should pay close attention to.
I hope Rush succeeds in getting a team just to irritate all the professional race-dividing POS like Sharpton.

Hey Al:

SHUT THE FUCK UP

Rush Limbaugh would be perfect for the role. Who better could get the best out of them big black bucks?

I would like to see what would happen if that fat fuck told Ray Lewis to remove the bone from his nose.

i wonder if acorn wanted to buy the rams

Perfect way for ol Jeff Christie .... uh ... I mean "rush" to hang out in the locker room with all the naked guys.

Well, it's certainly no surprise that the NFL would consider a bid from Limburger, he'd be a cash engine for them. Every time the idiot says something wildly racist on any of his broadcasted venues, the league would investigate and fine him to protect the NFL brand. He'd be a good fit.

Not to mention that it is HIS money and it is the RAMS, who cares.

Sharpton is a continual source of amazement to me.

His 15-minutes should've been up and the bell rung on him after the Tawana Brawley hullabaloo.

Pot calling Kettle Black does not even apply here.

Every bone in Sharpton's body is racist victim playing opportunist.

#25 - Exactly, MaryTylerWhore! They're both idiots.

Sharpton is a Racist... why should he care? Actually... he's not only a Racist but he may as well be the Grand Wizard of the Black KKK.

Rush hasn't thought this one through. He would never learn to shut up about his team or players on the air. The number of persons serious about shutting him up would multiply exponentially.

They let murders, rapists and dog abusers play, I don't see how having Rush own a team will hurt their "image". For poops sake, there is a guy named Chad Ochocinco playing - who changed his name to ochocinco. Sharpton is a race baiting attentiong seeking hoar. He does as much to stem racial division as the KKK.

Al Sharpton and his "Rush" to accusation is a sign that shines bright in the inability to be color blind. That he and Jessie and I'll even include Limbaugh garner the attention they do demontrate the canyon of the divide for some. I like to think some day peopele will truly be judged for their "actions" and not just their talk of it...

Of all the posts this is the most true.

Jesus Christ, would this guy just STFU. I am sick and tired of his race card playing ass. He is unimportant and all he does is see how many times he can get his dumb ass on TV. He is a disgrace to the African American community and he makes me sick.

Wow, Sharpton is the one thing that can make me side with Limbaugh. I didn't think there was anything that could do that.

Just pissed that Michael Vick named his dog, "Rex".

What will be fun is watching the blowhard racist Rush hoisted on his own petard, failing to be able to use his precious money to enter the NFL because he's such an asshole.

the whole time I watched this PIMP talking to AC the song from beverly hills cop wouldnt get out of my mind

SHAKE DOWN

SHAKE DOWN

SHAKE DOWN

and mercury morris sounded like all those hits he took were finnally catching up to him.

does ANYONE think players will give up millions because rush limbaugh is one of the owners...
please...

listen to steven a smith about it.
he called the players saying that .."liars'

Shakedowns are a pain in the ass deluxe. Thanks for the reminder BLT. Sighhhhhhh

I don't follow Rush on a regular basis, so I am sure I missed the racist comment(s) that has the left's panties in a wad.

From the post above...

"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."
"I have simply said that their desire for McNabb to do well has caused them to rate him a little higher than perhaps he actually is"
~RL

If this is an accurate quote... where's the racism? If Rush had said that McNabb was incapable because he was black, I would agree that was racist. But saying that some people in the media want him to succeed BECAUSE he is black is not, in my opinion, racist. It is an observation of behavior. Seems to me that Rush was saying that there was some racism in McNabb's favor and he was pointing it out. Rush's observation might have been in error (I also do not follow football), but how is it racist? [If I remember correctly, McNabb had not done as well in a game the weekend before this comment was made.]

Is it racist when someone sees racism and points it out?

ilib
I believe there was another statement that they have misquoted to prove what biased turds they are.

bottom line

he's got the money and he is one of many in the group.

if they dont want to play for him...there's always the UFL now...it would only mean about a 1000 per cent pay cut or so....

"I believe there was another statement that they have misquoted to prove what biased turds they are."

Well, where is it? Where's the link??

Or is this just yet another one of your hateful comments thrown out there with no proof just to hear yourself talk??

Geesh

I dont remember the statement and I dont have time to look it up'

and if you will just slow down a moment and not get your dress all up in an uproar..
you would see that my comment COULD actually serve to indict rush more than absolve him...

get that cookie dough out of your eyes.

"I dont remember the statement and I dont have time to look it up'"

Translation: "I'm too busy posting more false claims thinking I'm making kicking liberal butts all over Drudge"

or

"I'm busy dropping pencils again"

Either one works!

lol

BTW...not baking today, except for homemade dinner rolls.

Making a big dinner for company tonight.

Limbaugh's problem isn't with the players, it is with the current crop of owners in the NFL. they are whiny, bitchy, multi-millionaires who most probably inherited the wealth necessary to afford an NFL franchise. They don't want to share the spotlight of being an owner with someone like Limbaugh who will certainly hog the camera and attract attention to himself....that will only take attention and focus off of them.

they don't want any of that.

His comments belittling McNabb as overrated due to his race revealed that Rush has a hard time giving credit to a black player. I can't imagine black players, of which there are a few in the NFL, would want to play for a guy who has demonstrated a bias against them.

But I actually think Sharpton's opening of his mouth helps Rush.

I'm no Sharpton fan, but I would LOVE to see him become a thorn in LimpBlobs side on this issue.

Can you imagine the kind of white-separatist shit he'd be spewing then?

The left is full of sick, subhuman, animals.

LOL....and the right (especially you ZitJizz) is a bunch of self-righteous DRAMA QUEENS!

I love this.....the right seething that their false-prophet might not get a football team, yet they cheer loudly when America doesn't get the Olympics.
Party over country........again?

This should play nicely in the 2010 mid-terms.

Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict.

Sports owners have historically been as often idiots and full of negative characteristics as they have been sane people. Which merely indicates that there is no real reason that Rush shouldn't be allowed to be part-owner of a franchise.

I do see why this would be a problem for the black community. And I sympathize. But that's part of how reality works.

Does Limbaugh's history as a drug addict have any effect on his application for membership to the NFL team owners club?

I would love to see him get the Rams, and have players refuse to play for him. That will happen.

And it would put a brighter spotlight on Rush's racism.

What does Sharpton do for a living anyway?
What a legacy...A racist anti-semite. What an achievement.

"I do see why this would be a problem for the black community. And I sympathize. But that's part of how reality works."

Why? Sports owners have been denied the purchase of a team for reasons like "the other bidder is friends with the commissioner so we are going to reject your higher bid, breaking the law in doing so, and accept his" (see Red Sox, Boston).

It works whatever way the other owners want. If they think Rush, being a blowhard drug addict who has expressed bias against black players, would hurt the image of the league then could reject him on those grounds.

But I think Rush picked a good spot with the economy the way it is.

Manypaths obviously has a case of wealth envy. By the way, can you back up your statement that Rush is a racist? Please provide specific uttering's or accounts that prove that he is a racist.

Exactly. It works whatever way the other owners want. And they don't seem to care much either way. Aka, reality.

tawany whats her name case proved that beyond a doubt.

so I guess they cancel each other out

EXCEPT that its a major difference betweeen a fuckin liar attempting to STEAL MONEY from people and a man who has a prescription drug problem
the bullshit is that the left would not make such a deal out of it if he was blowing coke for grins

AND THE OLD STANDBY

liberals dont ever have to worry about hypocricy in situations like this

when you dont have any standards or morals on a subject then you cant be accused of being hypocritical on it..

its about smear tactics from liberal icons like the liar sharpton

but of course when you are the party of the most famous liar of all times,...that and the party of teddy and byrd...
well shit son....its hard to top that three.

and another comment on party over country

the party of MASS and its change of law to replace teddy

AND charly rangle STILL SITS on top of tax making committte...

"I mean, let's face it, we didn't have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I'm not saying we should bring it back; I'm just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark." Racist Limbaugh

"You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed."- Guess Who?

Of African-Americans

"They're 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?" - Yep him again.

"when you dont have any standards or morals on a subject then you cant be accused of being hypocritical on it.."

Seriously BL2...do you EVER stop to think about the things you post???

Danforth has dead on when it comes to your posts.

I have asked for links supporting your comments, but you claim you don't have time to put one up...but manage to spend an additional hour plus posting your hatred for anyone who isn't republican.

Found time for that.

You consistantly put up statements with nothing to back them up.

I find it odd that you of all people expect standards and morals from anyone, considering you aren't walking your talk!

Manypaths obviously has a case of wealth envy. By the way, can you back up your statement that Rush is a racist? Please provide specific uttering's or accounts that prove that he is a racist.

Why you insist on being so wrong in front of people is beyond me.

I'm not the one crying that Obama is destroying the economy.

I guess freedom isnt free.

Interesting that the right believes that although everyone has a right to free speech, that there are consequences to that speech (Rush said it himself about the Dixie Chicks, that they deserved to be boycotted and not played on country radio stations since their speech offended and thus "had consequences"). But the right is the first to whine about any opportunity that they may miss out on due to their use of freedom of speech, often inferring that it is their speech that is being restricted.

While I dont agree with these kind of actions, its delicious to see a fat officious fuck like Limberger get hoist on his own petard

#66 | Posted by Sully

He in no way belittled McNabb on the basis of his race. He said that everyone wanted to see a black quarterback become a superstar and because of that they were playing McNabb as opposed to a better player. He belittled him but it was about his playing ability not his race. Race was a side issue. He actually had a good point but in this politically correct America that results in you getting fired. Everone would like to see a black quarterback lead his team to the super bowl and win it. Unfortunately, McNabb has still yet to that as have any other black quarterbacks. Save one who did it with the Washington Redskins way back years ago.

#87 | Posted by everlong

If race was a side issue, why did he specifically mention blacks? Must have been very counter-intuitive. Is that Rush's trademark?

Racists don't see racism.

Don't forget that. It's why people defend the racist Limbaugh. They don't see it......

Rush Limbaugh's bid to buy the St. Louis Rams is facing more opposition.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said he would vote against Limbaugh becoming a team owner and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league would not tolerate "divisive" comments from anyone involved with the league.

"I, myself, couldn't even consider voting for him," Irsay said at today's NFL owners meetings. "When there are comments that have been made that are inappropriate, incendiary and insensitive... our words do damage, and it's something we don't need."

In addition to saying in 2003 that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback do well, Limbaugh also has made a comparison between the NFL and gangs: "The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and Crips without any weapons. There, I said it."

Said Goodell: "I would not want to see those kind of comments from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL."

latimesblogs.latimes.com

Sports should be entertaining and while Limbaugh's comments may drift into delusional, his ability to rile up lefties and wingnuts is entertaining. Just wait until some Soccer type claims that they are the real football. Whatever Limbaugh has said about McNabb or the NFL pales in comparison to his roasting of soccer.

Of course, I think that strikes are just as interesting as games. And I think that we should make Fidel Castro the commissioner of baseball -- if only he would retire from running cuba.

Racists don't see racism.

#89 | Posted by Manypaths

Yeah, you got it all figured out. You don't know me from Adam yet you insinuate I'm a racist. What Limbaugh said was politically incorrect but he said what a whole lot of people were thinking. The Eagles themselves weren't playing Mcnabb because they wanted a black quarterback to succeed, but many people do want to see that happen. It's a fact that there are a lot of people out there who would love it and be proud if a black quarterback took his team to the super bowl. It's a matter of pride. Limbaugh was fired for saying what a lot of people think. And I'm not a racist no matter how much you assume I am. You can kiss my ass for saying it.

I think this is hilarious. The quote probably isn't true, it was spread through social networking sites - and picked up by the Media. That's the Right Wing MO. Push polling, DrudgeReport, Cheney giving an interview, the NYT reporting, then Cheney reporting the NYT's "reporting" of what he said as fact.

It's rich with irony, IMHO. Rush, who says all kinds of non-factual things, denigrates Michael J. Fox - accusing him of faking or stopping his meds is bent?

Too funny.
