Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

From Spaceweather.com: Tonight, Oct. 7th, President Barack Obama will host a star party for middle school students on the South Lawn of the White House. Selected amateur astronomers will be on hand to show guests the moons of Jupiter and point out a brilliant Iridium flare. That's about all you can see from the light-polluted skies of Washington DC, but for many attendees, it'll be the experience of a lifetime. There'll be a live webcast.

Sounds pretty lame but at least they get to meet the President.

"Sounds pretty lame but at least they get to meet the President."

Ever look at the sky through a telescope Andy? First time I did, making all the adjustments (declination/right ascension... damn, are those the right terms?) and then finding the rings of Saturn... actually seeing them with my own two eyes... a really amazing experience.

An astronomer or two could be born that day.

A good experience for the kids, plus they get to meet the President, and some harmless non-partisan PR for Obama. Not a bad thing IMO.

It followed the presentation of Science Achievement Awards to notable American scientists in the White House. Trying to get kids interested in science and astronomy is a good thing.

I've read that every night was ASTROLOGY night (and day) in the reagan whitehouse.

Anything to broaden the minds of today's yute is a good thing.

What's a yute?

My cousin vinny I do believe called youths as Yutes in the courtroom.

I know. You missed my joke, Larry. When Vinnie said "yute", the judge (Herman Munster) asked, "What's a yute?"
