Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

30th year for the chili fest at Lupus Missourah! I know that Chrissy and Goat talked about coming but it sounds to me that Surfer Girl is doing a make over of the old homestead, and bringing a Texan to Lupus would ruin my rep.

Of course no Chili Fest would be complete without a few songs from Dyno Penny backed up by Dave Dearnley who does the solo guitar.

As you'll find when you listen to the Chili Fest tribute linked up for your enjoyment I must dedicate this song to our Loathsome Lothario, the dumbster diving road kill gourmet gimme some. Enjoy!

Lupus Chili Fest.wma

OK, oz, I'm confused. I googled, and got this link. It says it's on Oct 3, 2009 and is the 28th, not 30th

www.comomusic.com

I looked up Lupus MO (pop 30) and saw this interesting tidbit

Males had a median income of $23,750 versus $63,750 for females.
What the fuck to those 15 women do to make almost 3x their male counterparts in this tiny town?

i made a killer batch of chili yesterday - brisket, country style ribs, beef smoked sausage - very few beans - oooooooooooooieeeeeeeeee!

Making "green chili" tonight. Already have a bunch of roasted peppers and tomatillos ready to go.

BTW Goatman, this month I'm going finally make that award winning chili recipe you gave me a long time ago. I got my big cast iron dutch oven picked out and everything. I've been saving it for a special occasion.

That's median not average. There is a difference.

the 28th, not 30th

Nanny, Nanny, Nanny...

Allow me to say that it isn't only chili that is served, and information by word of mouth is reliably unreliable.

But there's no beans in my chili, and I pickle the peppers. True to form not one Drudgie commented on the song. LOL

That's median not average.

I know. That's what it says in my post

There is a difference.

Between what?

That is what Goatman was riffing on in his post, though there could be one man in the town who earns a gazillion dollars a year; or the town could have only one female resident, who happens to earn $63 grand; or only one male resident, who happens to earn $23 grand, etc. and the "median" income could work out the same way.

OzarkAggie,

(As usual I talked too much so this post will be in two parts.)

I've been so busy haven't even had time to get my much needed DR addiction "fix" lately.

But ya know, it was the strangest thing! Seemed every time I walked passed my computer here in the kitchen today I'd get the smell of delicious chili cooking throughout the room and couldn't figure out why. I had no chili of my own cookin' on the stove, so I did some further checking and found the delicious smell was coming right through my computer straight from your Lupus Chili Fest thread. lol

Seriously, wish I could have made it there this year -- but next year Missouri "Lupus Chili Fest 2010" here I come!

And a Happy Belated Birthday, OzarkAggie!. I know, Leo the Lion, your birthday was also in September. Did you party and have fun?

Say, are you all done helping your buddy on the farm with all his work -- the one who had injured his hand? Hope all is going well for you and him too. You hardly show up here anymore. Lately I haven't been able to stop by nearly as much either -- not as much as I normally did. You were 100% right in your comment above about me needing to fix up the old homestead.

Been running around here like a nut "decluttering" 50 years of "stuff" out of the house and garage and cleaned out my two storage units in another town, blah blah blah getting ready to move. Been workin' non-stop and workin' hard getting ready to throw this place on the market.

My sister and brother-in-law will finally be coming down here next week and plan to stay here for about 3 weeks to move out the pieces of furniture she would like to have and also to help me with some repairs around here I couldn't do on my own. I needed some brawn and my b-i-l is 6' 2" and knows how to do a lot of repairs and fixing of things around a house I either didn't know to do, or physically couldn't do, my own so am really looking forward to having some much needed help. Once that's done the house is in the realtor's hands FINALLY! And you all thought I was just bluffing about moving out of California. Hah! Y'all were wrong.

You mentioned above Goatman had wanted to go to the Lupus Chili Fest too this year. He probably did but you know Goat. He thinks no one in the world makes chili as good as his and no chili could ever taste as good as chili when it's eaten in Texas. That's Texans for ya. LOL

As for me, though, I'm more than ready to plan on going to the Lupus Chili Fest in 2010. My life will (hopefully) be settled down by then and I'll be back on at least a half way normal track (for me, anyway) by then and things won't be so hectic.

And when I get to Lupus next year I want that boat Captain buddy of yours to give me a boat ride on the ol' Missouri River as you promised. Say, did you ever get your coonskin cap finished yet? lol Take a picture of you in it rowing along the Missouri River and upload it on here.

OzarkAggie --

(continued from #10 above)

Okay, time now to go back to the grindstone for me. One good thing women always like is I've managed to lose about 10 pounds so far with all this moving crap I'm dealing with even though I've also lost my mind a few times along the way too. Man, is there a lot of work and stress both physically and mentally being both the Trustee for all the other matters plus having to handle the sale of the house too but I sure am learning A LOT along the way! Figured I may as well look at this whole thing as a "learning experience" if nothing else. Who knows. Maybe I can look into being a part-time realtor when I move. I'm going to learn everything I can from watching how my own realtor handles the sale of this house.

Well, take care, OzarkAggie.

Will probably be posting on a drive-by basis for the next few weeks or when I find I really need a break for my brain. DR is the one place where you can sort of put your real life worries and troubles aside for awhile, pretend they don't exist, and just have some fun. Don't you be such a stranger on here either. See you around more often, I hope.

Hope to see you all a little later. I could use another break soon!

I'm a Hormel Man.

Geesh. What a male chauvinist. I should secretly report you to one of those radical feminist women's lib groups and they can march and picket around your house. lol

Aw, a tough, brawny Irish guy like you? You don't give yourself enough credit, Wisgod.

I always had you figured for a red-blooded steak kinda guy. lol
