Conservatives want Obama to fail, even if it ends up hurting America.

"Conservatives want Obama to fail, even if it ends up hurting America."

This has been painfully obvious since shortly after the election.

The Right Wingers are just fucking useless these days. They would rather support greedy fuckers in the health care insurance industry. They would rather see the first Black President to fail and by extention the United States than support Him. I just do not know.

Larry

"Conservatives want Obama to fail, even if it ends up hurting America."

No question about it. The modern Republican party is quite possibly the biggest collection of sore losers in human history.

Is not getting the 2016 Olympics for Chicago a failure?

Rumor has it that the Olympic committee was expecting an apology from Obama for Americans winning so many gold medals.

These threads are as ridiculous as the ones put up about the left cheering whenever the body count in Iraq went up under Bush.

BFD if America didn't get the Olympics. This country has had more than its share anyway.

Get over it

Goat I don't think you cheer when America fails under Obama but you aren't extreme right either. There is a small but vocal minority that 100% want America to go into the tank under Obama.

There was some on the left that wanted America to suffer casualities in mass to make Bush look bad. There is fringe elements on both parties. Beck seems to cater to them.

I live just across the lake from Chicago. There were a lot of people who did not want the Olympics. I am not sure hosting the Olympics is a good thing. Lots of money and hastles.

As far as Obama and the right. It is no different than the people who wanted to lose the war in Iraq so that Bush would be embarrassed.

Fot those same people to act all indignant when Obama is treated the same is quite hypocritical.

I'm having my celebration party tonight. Its going to be great. 4 kegs. We even got strippers. This will be the best party since Hillary broke her arm.

It is no different than the people who wanted to lose the war in Iraq so that Bush would be embarrassed.

What exactly are you saying? Are you saying that the left was cheering when they heard about American casualties? Why do you find it necessary to mischaracterize the criticism of the war from the left just to make a false equivalence?

So the International Olympic Committee went with Rio de Janeiro?

Guess that was the Wise Latina Choice.

(stolen from the Hugh Hewitt radio Show)

Arerica Loses, Conservatives Cheer

You would think this would be a non-partisan issue.

IMO Obama was politically-dumb for his last-minute pitch. He needs a victory; badly.

This is a fight he would have been better off avoiding unless he had good reason to be confident in his success.

Fairly or not, this loss is adding to the growing perception that he's a pushover; weak.

Having said all of that, I do agree that it's bad form for righties to be gloating about an issue that should be apolitical.

Are you saying that the left was cheering when they heard about American casualties?

It was posted every day with apparent glee by some lefties on this blog.

Truthhurts even admitted that posting casualties and hyping it was politically good for his cause.

Why do you find it necessary to mischaracterize the criticism of the war from the left just to make a false equivalence?
#12 | Posted by DARTHCHENEY at 2009-10-02 09:06 PM

Mischarachterize the critism of war from the left? Are you beig serious? Harry Reid saying the war is lost, Jack Murtha accusing soldiers before charges or investigations, Ted Kennedy calling it Bush's Vietnam. Kerry, Reed... Those are mischaracterized criticism? How about the whack groups funded by Soros airing commercials and ads where soldiers are in a surrender position?

Haven't even begun the barrage on Cheney and Rumsfeld. Can any of you whining, short memory libs come up with anything from equal ranking or leading republican Senators that comes close to wanting Bush to fail?

Oh cool...Chuck Norris is here. You guys should see the size of this bon fire. Well party on!

#14...

Anything the POTUS is political. He is the head of the Party. Had Chicago got the nod, there is no doubt it would have been used politically by the left. There was no reason for him to go. He went because he is an arrogant SOB and hopefully will be humbled that the world hasn't gushed over his election like his ass kissers here.

(Anything the POTUS is political)

Anything the POTUS "does" is political.

Different thread, same stupid fuck up. Taking a 5 minute self penalty....

I don't see how the Olympics going to Rio--which deserved it anyhow--is "America loses".

That said, ever since the so-called "American Dream Team" formed, full of NBA stars, I've cheered against them every single game. I hate the idea of professional basketball players in the Olympics.

"I hate the idea of professional basketball players in the Olympics."

Agreed. Every time I see them, I think of Jim Thorpe.

Rooting for America to Fail

Chairman Zero personalized the Olympics bid. He made it about himself. And his fluffers in the media obediently bought into it. Obama needed a win to distract from his foreign and domestic policy failures. So, he put his prestige on the line and fell flat on his silly face. And it is only natural to take pleasure when arrogant people are brought down by their own hubris.

Unable to deal with the failure of the Obamessiah, lefties are accusing the rest of us of delighting not in the failure of Obama's arrogance, but in the failure of America itself. These are not the same thing. But even if we were, all we would be celebrating is that a two-week long party would be held some place other than Chicago. No big whoop.

It's not like we would be rooting for the kind of failure that would result in the deaths of American soldiers, like certain lefties did during the Iraq War.

I don't feel bad for laughing at the failure of Obama and his media cult. No one had to die in order for Obama to fail in bringing the Olympics to Chicago. On the other hand, I do have to wonder if any lives could have been saved if the Daley political machine had put its time and resources into dealing with the epidemic of violent crime in his city, instead of chasing Olympic glory.

It looks like Chairman Zero will have to find a better way to pay back Valerie Jarrett, Tony Rezko, and the rest of his Chi-Town slumlord cronies. The next time Mayor Daley sends Obama on an errand, let's hope he does a better job or I might bust a gut.

#20...
They are all paid athletes now. We wouldn't have a prayer against the likes of Spain or Argentina fielding our best college kids. Hockey is no different.

I haven't watched the Olympics since they allowed professionals to play. They are venal, corrupt and acquire baksheesh for their 'volunteer' work ...

I suggest the death penalty should any Olympic 'official' be discovered taking graft ... I'll bet that would effect a rebirth of Olympic conservatism, what?

"Agreed. Every time I see them, I think of Jim Thorpe."

Jim Thorpe was a freak of his time. He was the greatest athlete on earth. I am not sure of the rules back then, but I would assume he never competed in any events he was paid as a professional.

I know I lost my amateur elgibility at 16, and back then you could not compete in any amateur events, if you made a dime in any other sport.

MSNBC's Schultz Blames 'Right-Wing Talkers' for Obama Olympic Defeat; Compares GOP to Hanoi Jane

It was bound to happen.

Although some in the liberal media were all too eager to point out instances where some are celebrating President Barack Obama's "epic fail" in the media, it was just a matter of time before conservatives and Republicans got the blame for the President's inability to secure the 2016 Olympics for Chicago.

Enter MSNBC's Ed Schultz. During his Oct. 2 MSNBC show, the liberal host launched into a rant blaming the Republican Party and went as far as comparing the party to the anti-American antics put on by Jane Fonda during the Vietnam War.

Don't think I even knew what curling was back in 1977.

That said, Republican glee at Chi-town's loss is pretty pitiful.

What a pile of crap.

I didn't mind if a professional athlete was allowed to compete in another sport amateur venues like the World or Olympics. It is about the best athletes so they deserve it.

It is kind of screwy only certain professional athletes are allowed to compete in their paid sport and others only allow amateurs. Like Boxing.

So, OC...what was your pro sport?

Sorry to mess that up Hag. I will be more conscious next time. Hard to consider you a troll though. Take some lessons.

"Take some lessons."

I guess I took Kanrei's word for it when he called me one a week or two ago. Can I say I was referring to the post and not myself to get a pass?

#34...

I would like to say it was something like Boxing. Sadly it was Bowling. I joined adult scratch leagues where there was money paid out at the end of the year. That was considered being paid if you can believe that. It clearly said it on the ABC sanction card you filled out every year. Couldn't play football or basketball in HS after my Sophmore year. Seems kind of picky and technical, but coaches and league officials took it seriously. They changed that shit about 10 years later.

#38

Damn, for a minute I thought we were talking to a bona fide celebrity.

Hey, man, a pro is a pro. Good for you.

I met Karen Valentine at the Bowling Alley when they were filming the Celebrity Superstars back in 1974. Had fingernails about 4 inches long and inch eyelashes.

Sorry again Hag. I don't consider either of you trolls. As much as I would like to.

You are one of the few on the left here I have no qualms about. You calls them like you sees them.

"Really?"

Yeah, unfortunately. I used to think he was cool.

Shit...Karen Valentine? I'm jealous. She and Laurie Partridge filled many a fantasy for young Danforth!

"Sorry again Hag."

I knew Kanrei was using that as an excuse not to engage me.

Robert Conrad was warming up when the lanes were real dry and he was hooking it out of the house. So I walked up to him and suggested he take the ball to the machine on the concourse and have it cleaned. He hands me the ball and five bucks and said hear kid go clean it. Keep the change. I'm strutting through the House showing the ball and saying who's it was being all cool and shit. I go back to the lanes and hand him his ball and Michael Cole was there. So I am checking out his bowling ball curious like and he fucking looks at me and says "Don't ever touch my ball." I wasn't so cool anymore.

I got drunk one night and fouled the line every first ball, and which was a strike, and then converted the spare, for 11 frames ...

My league average was 157 at the time ...

This universe is sometimes very, very strange ...

My team mates wouldn't speak to me, in disgust ...

"Have you ever disclosed anything here you have been in? Ads, small or big screen?"

Nah. Some things you'd recognize...most you wouldn't. You've doubtless heard my voice, though....

MSNBC's Schultz Blames 'Right-Wing Talkers' for Obama Olympic Defeat; Compares GOP to Hanoi Jane

MSNBC is one of the bought and paid for "news" media outlets. Bought and paid for means George Soros funnels money to them via other outlets and organizations. Hence, their repugnent ratings. No other "news" media could survive on ratings alone without "welfare" from the powers that be.

That being said, liberals like Schultz, Olbernman and Mathews have full reign on MSNBC regardless of quality or factuality.

Bottom line: The liberal news media is a bought and paid for business with top trash talkers getting most of the attention while low profile "investers" get their message across for pennies of media coverage on the dollar.

Especially these days, with the 24/7 paparazzi

For the life of me, I can't figure out why some of the bodyguards don't bull their way through paparazzis and knock them out of the way.

"Rationalization"

Maybe. What little fame I had (VERY little), I used to get laid, every time a woman recognized me. Plenty for me when I was younger. That, and I was smart enough to save my money.

My team mates wouldn't speak to me, in disgust ...

That's a miserable story.

I play a mean wii bowling.

High game 267.

One day I convinced myself that I had learned something about the real thing and in the first frame attempted to throw a ball the way I do in the game.

Almost broke my wrist.

"For the life of me, I can't figure out why some of the bodyguards don't bull their way through paparazzis and knock them out of the way."

Partially because that's what the paps want. That's a guaranteed payday.

That, and I was smart enough to save my money.

Not if I was on the jury. If the guy on trial says my hand slipped and broke his nose, good enough for me.

Hag gets honest for a change, "That's a miserable story."

Exactly - don't get drunk, unless you want to bowl 22 strikes in a row ... that don't count as anything but zip-spares ...

I come from a working class, union family... with my own league history.

I'm always honest. That's why democrats aren't thrilled with my posts either, usually. And republicans only like me when I criticize the left.

And I like you better when I'm drinking... curmudgeon.

BTW - My high Wii bowling score is 233, but I play a mean game of golf.

As mentioned by others now, at that time I was so 'sophomoric' that I laughed it off, like a dufus ...

Coincidentally, also scoring 233.

I used to run the oil machine and probably had the most unsanctioned 300's by the ABC in the State. I used the "wall" the lanes up nicely for any good bowler. If you chucked it to far out, it always came back. If you yanked it up the middle, it would slide and stay straight.

Everyone was happy, until they found out their 300 game or 800 series wasn't approved because of skewed lane conditions.

LOL Tad...I never had an attraction to the foul line.

My attraction was to the bar during that period in my life...lol.

You and others can choose to willfully twist what Rush and many others say about Obama. That doesn't make you accurate, however.

I suppose the same argument was cast back when Dubya ran the show. The left spoke very passionately against most everything about the Iraq War. When challenged about that... the left said they supported the troops but not Bush's policies. They wanted Bush to pursue a different path, no?

So, substitute "troops" for "America" and "Bush" for "Obama." We support America, not Obama.... you supported the troops, not Bush.

Bullshit. You want America to fail, even if it takes NY or Chicago or Hollywood getting nuked to do it. You simply cannot accept that your wartime hero, George W Bush and his GOPper cronies fucked up so much, so often in 8 years that you would prefer even wose things to happen than 9-11, losing the war in Iraq or the economic meltdown just so you can feel better about yourselves. Party before Country has been the Republican slogan since 2001.

This is just another example of the Right regaling at the expense of America. The President tries to do something good for the country, which having the Olympics in Chicago would have been, and the Republicans mischaracterize and cheer at the first sign of failure...

Barack Obama just can't help himself.
Every time the radical president crosses international waters something drives him to apologize for his country. It's his calling card.

(The actual figure, from a poll conducted a month later than the one you seem to have cited -- or the little voice in your head heard about -- was 72% of Chicagoans favoring the Olympics being brought to the Windy City:
www.huffingtonpost.com)

the poll I saw was right at half and half..
so you can question the poll all you want....

and of course, there is always the question of the chicago political gangsters involvement

STARTING with tony rezko and going all the way to the white house....

ah but IM sure leftists here dont give a fuck about graft and corruption if obama could be around it somewhere.

I guess all of you are too busy praying to the chosen one

"the poll I saw was right at half and half..

What is it about me telling you your poll was taken a month earlier than the one I cited -- meaning the poll I cited was more current -- that you don't understand?

"I guess all of you are too busy praying to the chosen one"

That would be the loser's thread you posted, that was posted on the DR days ago and which is now pretty well discredited.

Jeezus, drag your fat ass up to speed.

I didn't say that Chicago residents wanted the Olympics...

I didn't say that everyone against Chicago having the Olympics were against Obama...

I said the rallying Right cheering a loss for Chicago and America was wrong and that they were (once again) puting their Political Party over America's best interests...

Chicago not getting the Olympics is not analogous to the failure of America.

Nobody, including the most radical right-wing nut job is hoping for the failure of the nation. This is just lib-whining. What I do see is the hoped for failure of many of the stated policies of what many believe to be a too-liberal administration and a bunch of idiots in congress.

From my perspective, the nation will survive the stupidity of the current president and his ridiculous agenda just as we survived Bush, Carter, Nixon, Johnson, etc.

The conservatives will get to say "I told you so..." and the cycles will continue.

This is the same bunch of losers who went into raptures about getting winked at by Sarah Palin, whose ideas of governance approximate to those of Joe The Plumber and whose idea of an energy policy is "Drill, baby, drill". If the GOP treated them as the irrelevant and noisy nutjobs that they are then they could rant away to their heart's content while the rest of the country laughed at their antics. But the GOP doesn't do this, it panders to them.

This being America where ADD, amnesia and an inability to take anything seriously are endemic it is certain that they will continue with their mean and nasty negativity and almost certain that the GOP will not disown them and still possibly be rewarded by being elected again and, having learned nothing from their previous disasters with 9/11, torture, Iraq, Katrina and the economy, will further fuck up our country like they did 2001-2009.

#145 | Posted by Ari at 2009-10-03 06:26 PM

I didn't say that Republicans were "hoping for the failure of the nation"...

I said that Republicans cheering when America fails is analogous to them puting their Political Party over the good of America, again...

Which they've been doing a lot of in the last nine months...

And, the Republican party saying "I told you so!" exemplifies this same childish ideology...

"O'Neill said he tried to warn Vice President Dick Cheney that growing budget deficits-expected to top $500 billion this fiscal year alone-posed a threat to the economy. Cheney cut him off. "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter," he said, according to excerpts. Cheney continued: "We won the midterms (congressional elections). This is our due." A month later, Cheney told the Treasury secretary he was fired."

GOP motto: "FUBAR Today, Tommorrow, and Forever!"

They leave the country in horrible shape and now whine.

Is not getting the 2016 Olympics for Chicago a failure?

You're blonde, right?

Most Americans do not know what the 'public option' means. They don't follow politics as intensely as they follow sports.

BUT, they have seen the Messiah on TV begging for the Olympics and they have seen Michelle saying that it was a 'sacrifice' to fly to Europe in a luxury airliner with Oprah.

To many Americans that will represent failure, and being out of touch with reality.

Those are the political consequences.

Eisenhower had a rule that the POTUS should not go anywhere unless the outcome was already assured. The Messiah, once again, diminishes the presidency.

"The Messiah"

You think he's 'the Messiah"? Good God, you're a dumbshit.

Good God, you're a dumbshit.

Just as dumb as everyone who thought Bush was a chimpanzee, wouldn't you agree?

"Just as dumb as everyone who thought Bush was a chimpanzee, wouldn't you agree?"

No.

No.

Didn't think you would. It was a rhetorical question mainly.

At least as dumb, Goatman. Why don't you look those guys up and write them a letter, list them for my edification; or you could do something nutty like addressing the people who are here.

Did you have some folks in mind, Goatman? I'd like for you to tell me about them.

But, on the other hand, Vernon referred to Obama as the "messiah" about five minutes ago and you predictably defend him with vague bullshit and accusations against ghosts.

It's a pattern with you, I'm sorry to say.

"Didn't think you would."

Obama is a politician, nothing more. Pretend-adoration is useless. Mock-pretend even more so. Bush, on the other hand, seemed to have his cronies' betterment as a higher priority than the country's. The Bush tax code alone underscores that.

Just an observation.

What I'd REALLY like to hear is a definition of "public option" from either Vernon or Goatman, since Vernon raised the issue.

I guess I don't care enough to wait for it, but whatever.

No one remembers because I never posted any "'hot men on hot rigs' pictorial," Nullidiot.

I had posted a link to "AXE" on the Discovery Channel -- the series they had about lumberjacks in the Northwest -- and that was all you and Monteperv needed to go on your roll of always accusing me of being some hard hat honey.

#167 | Posted by CalifChris

Well I don't know, "Hot Rigs". That doesn't look like the oily beefcake pictures you posted before.

I don't know how many people were up and watching the sales pitch that Chicago presented... but I thought it was a very poorly done presentation.

Besides that, the pres and Ms. Obama both talked more about themselves than anything else. My first thought was "Fuck, even making a pitch for the olympics our messiah can't shut the fuck up about himself".

I knew, as soon as the pitch was complete, we didn't have a chance. No one on the committee wanted to hear how this would be a great ending to his 2nd term, some type of feather in his cap.

They wanted to be told how wonderful they were and how having the olympics would be so great... basically, they wanted their ass kissed and he went over there telling them how wonderful he was and expecting them to kiss his ass. Guess he came away looking like a fool.

As for hosting the olympics, I wouldn't attend the games if they were here... and some of them would have been mere minutes away.

All in all, the biggest losers in this process were the crooks in Chicago [who would have raped the coffers], followed by Obama for the loss of face. And possibly the poor people in Rio [who may be moved in mass from their slums to new slums in a different part of the city / country].

I don't see that the USA, as a whole, lost anything. No soldiers died.

It didn't matter which US city was in the running for the 2016 Olympics. After Chimpy gave the world the middle finger for opposing the Iraq invasion, Pyongyang would have received more votes than Chicago or any other American city. Paybacks are a bitch.

Possibly... but if Obama had started bombing Israel last week, I am sure that the rest of the world would all be at his feet... with Iran first in line to suck his dick.

As for the olympic committee, if Obama had stayed the fuck home and if Chicago had made a better pitch, MAYBE we would have made it past the first round.

Aw, is Betel picking on Chris's oil-rigger hunk?

You would call it that since you side with the losers on this blog, but the rest of us see it as boyd's nightly "will someone please look at me" gig followed by his crying when no one does.

I'm surprised you are too dull to see this. He does it every night. Try reading his stuff when your not under the influence and it will all make sense.

Aw, is Betel picking on Chris's oil-rigger hunk?

Just an observation.

It's an observation that still doesn't paint Bush as a chimpanzee.

Anyway, get over the messiah thing. I didn't see Bushites get as upset with the chimp thing as Obamamas get over he messiah thing.

The more you bitch about it, the more people are going to use it.

I'm having my celebration party tonight. Its going to be great. 4 kegs. We even got strippers. This will be the best party since Hillary broke her arm.

Otherwise you look like a raving loon (and you may very well be).

When I read your posts I hear Jack Nicholson in the back of my mind saying "I wanna watch the damn world series"

There was no celebrating that America lost. There WAS celebrating that the Chicago political machine led by Mr. and Mrs. Obama was defeated. These people would have personally prospered greatly with huge infusions of federal money into Chicago's slum areas owned by Obama friends and political allies, many of whom are presently working in the White House. In that regard, America won because our tax dollars won't be going to bail out Obama's Chicago buddies under the guise of rebuilding the area for the Olympics.

No wonder the conservatives are fucked.

Of course, Just keep your eyes closed to the corruption of this administration because, after all, they are your crooks, aren't they...

Valerie Jarrett owns slum property precisely where the Olympic complex would be purchased and built at taxpayer expense. The web of Raum Emmanuel, Mayor Daley, Valerie and others is drawn around this and they worked for months to get this lined up with federal funds already earmarked for these purchases. The Chicago machine takes very good care of its own.

I am glad Chicago was pissed on by the OIC. The decent people in Crime town didn't want it and the only ones that stood to get rich from it was the Damn Crooks. Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Mayor Daley and a few other dirty Bribe taking Politicians.

You're both full of shit.

BadI what'd you do, take a poll of all the "decent" folks in Chicago?

You're both birthers, tea baggers and conspiracy theorists

Seen any UFOs lately? Word has it that UFO's got all the bail out money and are holding it for Obama and his racist preacher in the bubble on the moon where they will rendezvous After the second term is over.

Rahm emanual said chicago deserved it because of it's diversity. He wa so sure of the win, he mocked critics saying "they'd get good seats".

Maybe instead of doing copanhagen, you should have been working on the war. BUT with his primary staff axelrod, emanual, and jarret....what would you expect?

The zero preaches constantly how we need to atone for 'previous' sins, and support less developed nations, then he has the balls to say his hometown should trump Rio.

You just can't make this hypocrisy up. The zero........ a living legend in his own mind....

Some critics pointed fingers at Chicago Mayor Richard Daley for failing to accurately tally Chicago's support before putting the president's credibility on the line.

Others noted the role of Ms. Jarrett, the administration's liaison with the business community. Ms. Jarrett, former vice-chairman of the Chicago bid committee, directed a White House office devoted to the effort and had the deepest knowledge of the bid's strengths and weaknesses. Attempts by her spokeswoman to reach Ms. Jarrett weren't immediately successful. She didn't issue a separate statement.

Pulling for your hometown to host the Olympics is Hypocricy???? Hmm I guess when I pull for the Superbowl to be in New Orleans Im a hypocrite.

There is money to be made in the large events and I'm sure some unethical things do exist.

Whats hard for me to understand is the fact that GW Bush presided over the largest bank heist in the history of America. He botched one war and started another for wmds that were never there and all you, Badeye, kissntell and b.rice can come up with is some slum land that a realestate mogul in Chicago would try to dump if the Olympics should come to town?!?!?!

Yeah? You gotta start wondering wtf is comming of the Republican party.

Whitewater, remember that one? Couldn't stick that to clinton so Newt, Lush and the like (contract with America) started circulating shit like Clinton Murdered Vince Foster.

I dont agree with a lot of things the President is doing but foaming at the mouth and ranting about him being a criminal is a little premature. If you want to rightly accuse a president of criminal actions you can back up one Pres. or just hang around and wait.

Until then stay off the late night AM dial.

Pulling for your hometown to host the Olympics is Hypocricy???? Hmm I guess when I pull for the Superbowl to be in New Orleans Im a hypocrite

No you aren't a hypocrite for that. The superbowl is always profitable. The infrastructure is in place. Big difference between that and the Olympics

This is hilarious.

Comparing the criticism of Bush's unnecessary Iraqi adventure to cheering because America didn't get the Olympics?

I've been wondering the same thing for a long time.

Reinforces the "ignorant" assumption, for sure.

At any rate, I hope you figure it out and stop it. It's pretty childish and rcade bans people for doing it. I'd hate to see you go. I enjoy the comic relief people like you provide, to be honest.

You know man, saying that in the past the Olympics haven't been very profitable is living in the past. It certainly doesn't mean that they will NEVER be profitable, does it? Don't you want to look ahead? Or is that just more shit you say that only applies in certain situations?

You're too easy of a punching bag, dude. You set yourself up, I knock you down with your own words. LOL

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Compliment accepted. Thanks

FWIW

I think that is a good thing that Chicago failed in its bid for the Olympics.

I suspect that a few fat cats would have made a lot of money but "The City" would have ended up even more in debt and the average Joe would not have benefited at all.

I refuse to believe that the President had any motive other than a belief that the city would benefit from hosting the Olympics (I think that he was wrong).

Any loss of "face" the President suffered from this failure was minor and will be forgotten by most reasonable people within a very short time.

I just can't see this as the big deal that partisans on both sides try to make it.

chicago whines.

Certain situations?(lol) Shouldn't that be in almost every situation? Seeing as there has been very few if any, cities which have made a profit? Yet you are trying to rip on those who use this trend, and say they aren't looking ahead? Hmp, I guess you bet on every maiden over 100 to 1 under that logic.

Think maybe you should make sure your own words can't be knocked down or used against you? JMO.

I've come to understand the problem with our politics today. It is filled with immature people who don't know how to behave or conduct themselves. This immaturity rears its head in many different fashions and displays itself in many other forms. And politics today is filled with this immaturity on both sides. It's like a bunch of 4th graders.

"I refuse to believe that the President had any motive other than a belief that the city would benefit from hosting the Olympics (I think that he was wrong)."

"Any loss of "face" the President suffered from this failure was minor and will be forgotten by most reasonable people within a very short time."

There has been no other sitting President flying to meet with officals and lobbying for the US. Much less their home city. I guess Obama thought he could "change" the profitable trend.

As for the failure, success in regards to political benefit... Romney is still making sure it is out there.

Crispee,

I personally think this was a battle that Obama desperately wanted to win. Furthermore, I view this one as largely apolitical. In short, I was irritated that the right was so quick to pile-on regarding this particular failure.

I bring this up not to chide you, but to get your honest opinion regarding my take.

#200...

I think Obama was nothing more than his arrogant, conceited self. I also believe he was prodded by those around him, and his "friends" in Chicago into thinking he should in fact go and lobby. Those being the ones who would profit if you know what I mean.

As for it being non political... Maybe, but there is no doubt if he was succesful, the left would lap it up and benefit for a long time, as opposed to the failure which will be forgotten.

I wonder if Obama would have gone knowing we were such a longshot to get the bid. I don't think there was anything he could have said or promised to change Chicagos chances.

When I read your posts I hear Jack Nicholson in the back of my mind saying "I wanna watch the damn world series"

Crisp,

I disagree.

When I witnessed a downright scary personality-cult manifest before my very eyes during the campaign, I viewed its success as as sense of hubris - Obama's lofty rhetoric (sans substance) coupled with an unhealthy swooning resulted in the breeding-ground for supreme arrogance...and naivete.

MY point being - don't be so quick to point the finger at the Big-O. While he is ULTIMATELY responsible for his mandate; he STILL has impediments.

Sam Stein is a political hack. A real reporter would be impartial, and portray both sides of the story. Instead he lambastes a partisan group that is clearly opposed to anything BHO does. What kind of reporter can't find a group that opposes the current administration or any administration? There are thousands of groups that will disagree with anyone with any position in politics. Of course these groups would celebrate any failure by any administration. The same is true of opposing groups. This is common for both demos and repubs. It is natural for political groups to celebrate when their opponents fail. So what is new with this story? America did not lose. It was the Olympics that lost. Rio needs the Olympics to clean up that mess. How many of the Olympics have been held in North America, more than many believe. We will have the Winter Olympics in Canada in 2010.

If Obama focused on

PRIORITY ONE
Not only balancing the budget, but starting paying off the principle of the debt....

PRIORITY TWO
Putting a higher priority on KILLING terrorist rather than protecting their rights....

PRIORITY THREE
Energy independence using ENTIRELY existing COST EFFECTIVE technology (This means Nukes and/or coal, plus drilling), and PERHAPS research on green energy AFTER the other stuff is paid for....

etc

Then he would have my full support, but then he would be a conservative....

But look, his cronies now have the opportunity to put their money where their mouth is and improve the living conditions for those who live in the slums they own. These people are so nice.

The liberals vilified Bush and wanted him to lose all the time. The conservs wanting Obama to fail is just goose and gander.

That said, am glad the world realized Obama is no messiah after all. (No antichrist either, but Obama gave the National Day of Prayer the finger and since then God has withdrawn His blessing from Obama's admin. If Obama continues to praise Islam and align himself with terrorist supporting organisations such as the IOC, expect to see more troubles ahead).

I mean this Islamic organisation that asserts its rights but does nothing to speak for Christians suffering under Islamic oppression.

Half of the Chicago citizens wanted it to fail as well.

I bet they were glad.

Especially after Mayor Daly told them the tax payers would not pay for cost overruns the city would.

Just where does he think the city gets their money?

"since then God has withdrawn His blessing from Obama's admin."

Only a blasphemer would make a statement like that.

It's really something to see. Obama tries to win the bid for the Olympics in the US. The "conservatives" cheer the loss.
