Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays radio broadcast Sept. 27 probably didn't have a lot of listeners on Sunday morning in Seattle, but those who were listening got to hear a wild prediction by Mariners' color commentator and former player Mike Blowers on the pregame show, and the subsequent hilarity in the broadcast booth when his prediction came true.

cool...

I once made a prediction that Cardinals announcer Mike Shannon would be drunk by the 5th inning of a double header. I was right.

Pretty cool article. Thanks for sharing.

Eat THAT Jeanne Dixon!

Be Well.

/Nice find, Ron.

There's very few things better than baseball on the radio. Good fun, great prediction.

^.^

I agree. I enjoy listening to the Rockies on our local station. Since going to the game would entail four hours on the road, plus gas, at least one meal, and whatever else, it's easier to simply
turn on the radio and listen in the comfort of my own home.

Nosbatamus.

Radio baseball is the best thing for road trips. Listen to the game and voila, you are 3-3.5 hours through your trip.

It doesn't hurt when you have Vin Scully calling the games. By the time you are at your destination, you know everything about both teams. Of course sometimes I don't care how someone likes their steaks cooked when their is action in the game...

"their"
there

I grew up with Vin Scully calling Dodger games. I feel sorry for those who didn't.

Wow. That was creepy. I can't believe. He not only predicted who would hit the home run, he predicted what inning. He not only predicted what inning, he predicted what the precise count would be. He not only predicted what the precise count would be, but also predicted the type of pitch the pitcher was gonna throw. He now only predicted the type of pitch, he predicted where in the upperdeck the ball would land. WOW!

Baseball......tied with football for most boring sport. Total lack of continuity to the game.

I'll take Hockey any day.

Not really, 3-1 pitch is usually for a strike and a fastball. batter usually has a green light on 3-1. the guy bats right. Power alley for right hand hitters is center left. I will guess the pitcher throws hard as well.

Don't forget that this was the guys first jack in the majors. That adds a little WOW factor into the equation.

I looked up a photo of the kid he is a monster. If he didn't have some injuries he would have hit one much earlier in the summer

Great find.

Blowers is, hands down, the most insightful commentator in the Mariners organization. Niehaus is second, but at 74 he's not what he used to be. He still calls the games beautifully though.

Shannon Drayer is also worth a listen/read. She deserves a lot more airtime.
