Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A Facebook poll that asked "Should Obama be killed?" and got 730 votes -- before being removed -- is being investigated by the Secret Service. The poll offered four potential answers to the question: "Yes", "No", "Maybe," and "If he cuts my health care."

I wonder if the people who answered yes will be questioned.

Liberals HATE free speech!

I noticed that Fox news internet posted the article for about two hours........It didn't rate much attention there........

'Liberals HATE free speech!'
someone might find out that freedom has a price.
lol
what's lawyer cost these days?

Yeah tell that to the folks who were talking and even made a movie about Bush getting assasinated...

This btw is bs for people to put this up anywhere.

"Liberals HATE free speech!"

That damned liberal Secret Service. How dare they investigate something that could be tied to a threat against the President.

"Yeah tell that to the folks who were talking and even made a movie about Bush getting assasinated..."

Really, she has a point. That play was beyond the pale and should have been ostracized if not hounded out of existence. We can't cry foul after allowing such egregious episodes to just be considered "art".
I agree with MUrphy on this one. I hate agreeing with Murphy.

I personally think assasination "jokes" are not funny and should be investigated. Secret Service is right to check this out with a cold speculum.

I don't believe the secrete service treated Bush any different than Obama except Obama is seeing more "Action" regarding this sort of thing.......

Most of the quizzes on FB are garbage. "What Roman goddess are you?" "What ER character are you?" Add to that the Yoville's and the Mafia Wars, its amazing how enterprising people can be when it comes to wasting time.

I wonder if the creator of this quiz was trying to make a really bad joke, or a true nut job?

While they may disagree vehemently with Obama, every conservative I know thinks his assassination would hurt this country a lot more than his actions could.

"every conservative I know thinks his assassination would hurt this country a lot more than his actions could."

Actually, I think liberals and conservatives alike should quake at the concept of "President Biden."

Don't worry, you will restore the nonsense.

Oh yeah, LOL

You have the numbers to prove this?

I'm going to go ahead and rub salt in the wound by also agreeing with you.

"That play was beyond the pale and should have been ostracized if not hounded out of existence."

It's not that hard to change a name or two and an occurrence or two. The author was lazy, and/or trying to stir up controversy. Most likely, he or she feared being ignored but for using Bush.

Don't worry, you will restore the nonsense.

well..sniff sniff...I will do whatever I can to .... sob sob....make you proud..

How can someone so stupid actually work a computer?

Stick around and watch, the Drudge righties have it down pat, much like their hero Nixon. Either that or the RNC has a great tech team.

Threatening anyone is something to be taken seriously, especially someone like a president, whether Bush or Obama. Or even me.

Of course, presidents have the Secret Service. All I have is a Concealed Weapon. In most states, that is.

I want to vote in this pole but can't find it.

#25

Agreed.

It sickens me when people wish harm or death to anyone.

I want to know when the sequel to "Death of a President" is coming out. The first one about Bush was a flop but I bet the next one will be a hit

I can relate to wanting to kill someone like Stalin or Hitler or Mao. However, anyone who believes that killing someone who wants to impose a conservative or liberal or other similar agenda is unequivocally insane.

Damn right. And McCain was no fool, either. He wanted to make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN no one wanted him dead.

Good game huh?

Against the Rams? I think I could have fielded a team to beat them.
Monday will be the acid test.

Hey....the Lions won for heavens sake, anything could happen!! :)

Oh and we are planning a trip back home next spring.

Let's get together again, ok?

I'll be around. Let me know where and I'll be there!
Although since it's already getting cold up here, "next spring" seems like years away.

Secret Service Investigates Kill-Obama Facebook Poll

Good.

I hope these assholes are found and prosecuted.

None of us should advocate the assassination of one of our elected officials. In 2012 Obama will be up for re-election. If he's THAT horrible, he'll be voted out. In the meantime he was voted in fair and square.

Deal with it.

Although since it's already getting cold up here, "next spring" seems like years away.

Our lows here in Michigan are expected to touch the 30's this week. In fricking September!!

It's no wonder the freaks dropped the term 'global warming' in lieu of 'climate change'.

Wow! JeffJ actually gave a post worthy of acceptance.

Tell me about it, Jeff. We had record highs in June, and then set new lows for July, August and now September. I swear, I'm expecting it to SNOW today!

I'll let you know in plenty of time Hawk,

It most likely be the first week in June, once the little guy finishes school for the year.

Cool. I'll look forward to meeting your new hubby.

See also www.drudge.com

Thanks MW!

I have my moments, as rare as they are.

Snow isn't too far off here, Hawk.

We've had a really nice September up until yesterday.

However, May, June, July, and the latter half of August were ridiculous. This doesn't even take into account an absolutely frigid winter that started circa Nov. 7 last year.

Zat,

Before you go apeshit, I recognize that my anecdotal 'evidence' is just that - anecdotal.

There was no crime here. The Facebook posting was a poll which did nothing more than ask a question. No affirmative statements were made. No threats were made. This is a pure free speech issue.

There has never been a prosecution of someone over asking a question.

#48 - Yeah, it's just an innocent question. Like, when a masked gunman asks, "Do you value your life?" it's just a question - the act of someone in search of information. It's like a one-person poll.

You have got to be the biggest excuse-maker on this site. Pathetic.

This is a pure free speech issue.
......#48 | Posted by utastaff

......speech may be free, but even free speech has consequences.........

......I'm sure if the originator of the poll was a person who valued personal responsibility, he or she, will be happy to take responsibility, and discuss their intent with the Secret Service.......

...it's just an innocent question.

Stupid? Yes. Innocent? No. The question was provocative, insinuating and meant to incite. That's why it did indeed incite a SS investigation.

"Threatening anyone is something to be taken seriously, especially someone like a president, whether Bush or Obama. Or even me.

I don't mean to pop your little balloon, but no one is afraid of you. A pussy with a c/w is still a pussy.

Once again, Uta opines on something she knows nothing about.

The dark side of liberals: intolerance.

The dark side of Obama's admin: totalitarianism and suppression of freedom....

#54 | Posted by takitez | Flag: A Child of Darkness Crying in the Wilderness

Ok let's have the same poll.

Press 1 for Yes

Press 2 for No

Press 3 for Maybe

Now I am not making any threats now am I?

The same should be said about whoever posted the poll on facebook

My answer is 2

Liberals HATE free speech!

Death threats against the POTUS are not protected speech, numb nuts. Go read the "u.s.s constitution" three times and get back to us.

Agree 100%.

Go read the "u.s.s constitution" three times and

Go read the "u.s.s constitution" three times and...

No problem, all you need is a submarine. It's on the bottom of Davy Jones Locker. Having worked on it though for several years, I can only warn you that all it says on the side is USS Constitution and "Watch Your Step" just above the gangways.

......I'm sure if the originator of the poll was a person who valued personal responsibility, he or she, will be happy to take responsibility, and discuss their intent with the Secret Service.......

#50 | Posted by skizziks

So what if they talk to the Secret Service. The Secret Service can't do shit. No one has ever been nor will anyone ever be prosecuted for asking a question genius. Look up the law!!!! No affirmative statements were made. No incitment. It was question in a poll. You libs are unbelievable. Try reading a few Con Law cases every once in a while to know your rights. The ignorance out there is shocking!

Me bad. I worked on the SS constitution. I'm not old enough to have worked on the origional USS constitution, but I did take a tiger cruise on the aircraft carrier of the same name.

You are a fucking moron. In your example you say a a masked GUNMAN. Carrying a gun FUCKS UP your whole scenario comparison asswipe. The Facebook simple ran a poll asking a question. If you can't see the difference asking a poll question verus making a threat with a GUN, you are biggest dumbass on this website.

No one has ever been nor will anyone ever be prosecuted for asking a question genius.

That's true, but thanks to the Patriot Act, they can sure fuck with the fools.

The Facebook simple ran a poll asking a question.

The question was whether or not the president of the US should be assassinated. Do you think the Secret Service shouldn't look into that?

Yeah tell that to the folks who were talking and even made a movie about Bush getting assasinated...

#7 | Posted by MURPHY at 2009-09-28 09:50 PM | Reply | Flag:

What country was that?

No affirmative statements were made. No incitment. It was question in a poll.

~StaphInfection

While not openly advocating the assasination of the POTUS the very act of suggesting it a potentially feasible possibility is simply too provocative particularily in today's political climate with all the fear mongered, rage-fueled, rtarded mobs.

Ergo, Facebook was right to pull the poll.

The SS are right to investigate.

And yer a sub-moronic hack fer trying to justify it as a freedom of speech issue.

K?

Be Well.

Go read the "u.s.s constitution" three times and

Didn't get the joke because he doesn't have a television.

thinkprogress.org

Protester holds up a copy of the "U.S.S. Constitution" to prove that Congress can't regulate health care.

One of the newest right-wing memes is that federal government doesn't have the constitutional authority to enact health care reform. At a town hall protest in San Diego on Saturday, one attendee tried to make one of these "tenther" arguments by holding up a copy of the "U.S.S. Constitution':

Right here. I got a book here called the U.S.S. Constitution. I'm sure everybody's seen this before. And you know what? I've this book three times now, and I've referenced it dozens of times and I can't find one little paragraph in here that says the government has the right to take over our health care.

Watch it:

ALEX

I think you're way off base here . . .

Goatman's post "Go read the "u.s.s constitution three times and" . . . linked to a picture of the ship.

I took Goatman's post as satire which means he did get the joke . . . with or without a television.

You are exactly right, twinpac

The ignorance out there is shocking!
.....#61 | Posted by utastaff

......truer, more self-reflecting words, were never spoken......

#63 - Yeah, yeah, you're still pathetic, making semantic excuses for what is clearly an inappropriate question bordering on a threat. Replace Obama with Bush, Clinton, Cheney, whoever, and it's still wrong. That's the point.

Change my analogy. No gun is displayed, but a stranger walks up behind you and asks you, "Do you want to die right now, yes or no?"

Your response: "Oh, are you with Gallup?"

"There was no crime here...This is a pure free speech issue."

"In your example you say a a masked GUNMAN. Carrying a gun FUCKS UP your whole scenario comparison asswipe. "

If the investigators show up and find the person who made the poll carrying a mask and sniper rifle in his car does that make it a crime?

What is your problem with them investigating the person that posted the poll?

i don't support obama but that kind of question is pretty sick and shoud have been removed from facebook.
