Census Worker Found Hanged to Death

A U.S. Census worker found hanged from a tree near a Kentucky cemetery had the word "fed" scrawled on his chest, a law enforcement official said Wednesday, and the FBI is investigating whether he was a victim of anti-government sentiment.

Strange, horrifying and obviously quite tragic for someone somewhere. RIP.
I hope they catch the disturbed people who did this.

I was kind of thinking being a census taker would be a good, quick part time job to grab when I first move. Is the moral of this story it's safe to be a census taker as long as you're not in Kentucky? How much does being a census taker pay, anyone know? From the sounds of this story, probably not enough.

a close friend of mine worked the census in 2000, and he went to all these places where the situation could have been dangerous. ok, i'll say it... ghettos. he was in places, interviewing people that had thugs on the street looking to jack his car, and because he made it clear that the census is about helping people get the resources their neighborhood might need budget-wise (like streetlights, for starters) they left him alone. he was cool with these gangstas and thugs because he wasn't the police, and because the census threatens no one.

Some days i think the only thing keeping our culture divide from becoming a civil war is the fact that it's not as clear of a geographical split between red and blue states as it was between north and south. What frightens me more than there being people like this out there is the possibility of it starting something. So many rightwingers out there already seem to have lost their minds on the simple realization that not everyone is with them and they aren't always in control.

Kentucky has a "rich" history of anti-Fed sentiment. Read up on it. It's very interesting. It's cool to watch the industry that was born out of that struggle.

However, I don't believe 100% that this is an anti-government crime, maybe a suicide.

I have to admit, my first thought was that it is an anti-government crime, but then thinking about the history of the region, which gets a great deal of Welfare from the government, BTW, it doesn't fit. Something is amiss.

Manson was not a Democrat. He used liberal ideals to control his followers, but his idol was Hitler and his beliefs were very racially motivated. He believed strongly in the word of the Bible and believed the Beatles were actually the Four Horsemen.

In other words, Manson's beliefs (AKA insanity) superseded any political ideals.
