There is no real evidence that Mohamed's wife was 9 years old.

The topic is much disputed in Islam itself.

The only documentation that Aisha was 9 years old, came from one guy, who later went mad (schizoid) and who blinded himself.

Evidence from such sources is disregarded in modern courts.

Also, a number (tens of thousands) of "saying of Mohamed" that came out of Iraq at that time, have been dismissed by Islamic scholars as nonsense.

This too came from Iraq.

On the other hand, there is more than enough evidence that Aisha was around 16 years old (possibly as young as 13-14, though unlikely) based on a number of key events that took place in the lives of people around them.

Aisha's sister was exactly ten years older than she was and her age is known. Based on that evidence alone, most Muslims now take Aisha to have been around 16.

Yes, there are still books full of old sources that say she was 9 (and those books will remain, since nothing is ever deleted in Islam). But according to proper research, that can no longer be taken as fact.

Now if by modern standards, a guy over 40 marrying a 14-16 year old is considered wrong... that's history for you. LOL

One should consider that the saying "Aisha was 9 years old when she married Mohamed" only came into existence AFTER the people mentioned had long passed away.

As long as Aisha was alive, nobody claimed she had been 9.... because that was just something someone made up later. LOL
