Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Following the lead of their Senate brethren, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to cut off funds to ACORN. Overwhelmingly, but not unanimously; the vote was 345-75. David Freddoso of the Washington Examiner helpfully lists all 75.

I can't believe Nick Rahall voted that way...

Of course, he IS firmly entrenched in the 'good 'ol boy' system here...probably feels quite safe.

Because of my frequent personal (family) and business activities in the Philippines, I am painfully aware of the damage of human trafficking.

Young women promised jobs as 'waitresses' in Japan or Europe, who end up as sex slaves in Nigeria or the Czech Republic. Typically they are given about $500 as a 'signing' advance (they all have financial emergencies at home) but they have to work it off, plus plane tickets, room and board, and other 'fees'

Each time this happens it destroys a young woman's life. Imagine being tied to a bed and being raped 20 times a day.

(Now, Drunk_Dwarf will be along to make this a remark about me, because he is such a vile creature that he cannot see anything beyond his personal, selfishness)

You're getting paranoid, Vermin. I would imagine your paranoia and narcissism is a very nasty and debiliating combo. I'll try and take your age and condition into consideration and go easier on you in future.

The Dems who didn't vote against ACORN are not "pro-sex slave." The pimp-prostitute sting was entertaining but stupid. ACORN has been around for 39 years and should be judged by the work it has done, not by a stunt pulled on low-level employees by publicity seeking conservative activists.

There are 400,000 people who work for the organization. If ACORN is as corrupt as Republicans think it is, then there should be targets much higher up to expose.

Seriously, Vermin, I'm going to take your fragile mental state into consideration and in future confine myself to only the occasional illumination of those dreary tableaux that, taken together, comprise the sum total of that miserable existence you call your "life." I simply had no idea I'd worked my way so far into your head. I hope I'm not keeping you from sleeping at night, although I imagine your opium pipe and palm wine intake probably helps out in that department.

What's hilarious is that these Tighties think that the imaginary child prostitution stories made up by these rwing activist punk artists to scam low income workers is..... REAL!

You could cut the faux outrage with a knife.

What a horrible headline. Misleading and possibly slanderous.

There are 400,000 people who work for the organization. If ACORN is as corrupt as Republicans think it is, then there should be targets much higher up to expose.

A qick search would produce multiple charges from multiple states. Not including the umpteen Federal charges and investigations going on.

Fantasizing about a bus trip to the Czech Republic.
"Wow! Young sexy girls handcuffed to the beds! It's my dream!"

Have you told someone about your fantasies? I mean, other than everyone on the DR? Family? Friends? (No, scratch that; no friends.) Pastor, priest, houngan or mambo?

#7...

Conyer's wanted to probe ACORN back in March and was asked by the WH not to open an investigation. Now we have the WH, Senate and Congress cutting off all funds. We also know there are current charges being investigated. I know fools like Corky think it is all about some recent video, but reality trumps that ignorant defense.

From you? The only idiot defending ACORN? Using deflections and strawmen as though this wasn't news? Yeah you look good on these ACORN threads Corkster.

"There are 400,000 people who work for the organization. If ACORN is as corrupt as Republicans think it is, then there should be targets much higher up to expose"

Oh, there are targets higher up, Rcade. But face it, the media and ranking democrats have been real supportive of ACORN. Like you, they act like ACORN is a stellar organization and something akin to "The Little Sisters of the Poor." Let's not overlook the fact that they support democrats and bear a lot of responsibility for the housing collapse too. They're at it AGAIN, by the way:

ACORN has done great work for impoverished people for what, 40 years or more in this country?

I'd like to see the vehemence shown towards them also shown towards an insurance industry that lets people die on a daily basis by rescinding their policies or not paying for their treatments.

Until then, I'll take this faux outrage about AORN for what it is worth.... a partisan political distraction.

"ACORN has done great work for impoverished people for what, 40 years or more in this country?"

LOL...and democrats...don't forget their good work for democrats, LOL! MORE bucks for ACORN in the works.

"A number of experts believe that aggressive enforcement of the 1970s-era Community Reinvestment Act contributed to the mortgage meltdown, and thus to the greater financial crisis, by requiring financial institutions to lend to unqualified borrowers. Now, the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives is responding to that situation by proposing to expand the scope and power of the Community Reinvestment Act.

This morning House Financial Services Committee chairman Rep. Barney Frank held a hearing on H.R. 1479, the "Community Reinvestment Modernization Act of 2009." The bill's purpose is "to close the wealth gap in the United States" by increasing "home ownership and small business ownership for low- and moderate-income borrowers and persons of color." It would extend CRA's strict lending requirements to non-bank institutions like credit unions, insurance companies, and mortgage lenders. It would also make CRA more explicitly race-based by requiring CRA standards to be applied to minorities, regardless of income, going beyond earlier requirements that applied solely to low- and moderate-income areas."

"Until then, I'll take this faux outrage about AORN for what it is worth.... a partisan political distraction."

A "distraction," that's what it is Corker...right! LOL

Thanks for confirming post #16 by defending ACORN and inlcuding the Insurance Companies as your strawman. Not that anyone would have won any money if they bet. You were a 1-9 favorite.

There would be if any other media outlets besides Glen Beck and a couple of interns would seriously investigate. This is systemic.

Gee, Cooky, I can feel your heat when I touch the computer screen. Hope you can hold on until you waddle on over to the recipe thread.

Try again with the funny, Starvis. God, you and the Corkster get more stupid as the afternoon wears on.

And actually, the Headline should read '76 Democrats who are pro-sex slave ACORN defenders', since we have to count our dear leader-in-chief, who promised these clowns a seat at the table. God, Democrats and their shills suck.

Cookie was blinded one day in the presence of Elton John, who bid him to, "Cum, and I will make you a Cockfisher of men!"

The rest is history.

Anyone ever tell you you're cute when you get all sulky, Cooky (a.k.a. Mr. Man Jus!)?

cookfish, talking about stupid......keep ranting about acorn.

Still hasn't dawned on him that those stories were fictional.

But it's still early in the century.

Amen. Republicans will demonize ACORN while giving the entire insurance industry a pass. Which one affects the real lives of Americans more?

You're just mad because you can't beat that dead Palin horse as much anymore. A couple of ACORN threads can only enlighten our discussions and bring us closer to one another.

ACORN is a sleazy democrat organization and corrupt to the core.

Well get ready, they're trying to do it some more.

Al Green, D-Tex.

its just not THAT al green

AND LINE OF THE DAy

from bertha lewis...head of acorn

when it comes to the prostitution scandal

she said

"we wont take this lying down"

I get it bertha baby..pretty funny

I am really surprised that some folks are actually defending ACORN?

If any organization is found to be telling people how to avoid taxes and how to fraudulently obtain mortgage funds for a house--run a prostitution ring and how to get illegal prostitutes across the border--you must have some moral compass that tells you this is wrong??

That organization is completely corrupt and needs to stop getting taxpayer money--Even to buy bubble gum!!

---

Jest--

And I can't believe the house now wants to expand the CRA for no income people to get a house.

What is wrong with these idiots? These second-rate country lawyers and mall owners??

go get 'em crackers--yee fucking haw--yer really onto sumpin...

I think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg.

You have no idea, and it may not be going the way the Right would like. It's starting to look an awful lot like careful editing and the Acorn workers were on to them from the start.

Police reports were filed after the meeting - by ACORN workers, and the police were called. The full video hasn't been released - which would be quite interesting to see.

Carve another backwards "B" on the face of the Right?

Stay tuned...

There are 400,000 people who work for the organization.

And not a single product is produced by any of the 400,000. Simply amazing.

"And not a single product is produced by any of the 400,000. "

Gee, using that "logic", neither does Wall Street, a Psychiatrist, or a Law Firm.
