Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

In his speech to Congress last week, President Barack Obama attempted to sell a reform agenda by demonizing the private health-insurance industry, which many people love to hate. He opened by asserting: "More and more Americans pay their premiums, only to discover that their insurance company has dropped their coverage when they get sick, or won't pay the full cost of care. It happens every day."

I am sure Starvis will be along shortly to attack the author of this article.

Big surprise, Obama is a liar.

Ted Kennedy

Looks like diablo is playing a bashthis and begging for a 14 Day vacation.

To highlight abusive practices, Mr. Obama referred to an Illinois man who "lost his coverage in the middle of chemotherapy because his insurer found he hadn't reported gallstones that he didn't even know about." The president continued: "They delayed his treatment, and he died because of it."

Although the president has used this example previously, his conclusion is contradicted by the transcript of a June 16 hearing on industry practices before the Subcommittee of Oversight and Investigation of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The deceased's sister testified that the insurer reinstated her brother's coverage following intervention by the Illinois Attorney General's Office. She testified that her brother received a prescribed stem-cell transplant within the desired three- to four-week "window of opportunity" from "one of the most renowned doctors in the whole world on the specific routine," that the procedure "was extremely successful," and that "it extended his life nearly three and a half years."

Holy fucking shit, Obama sure told a whopper there. I'm sure the libtards will be along shortly to condemn these lies in the healthcare debate.

Most will ignore this.

A few, like Starvis, will come along and attack this spat of criticism as a product of racism.

" The deceased's sister testified that the insurer reinstated her brother's coverage following intervention by the Illinois Attorney Generals Office. "

Hey that's not SO bad. Just call the AG every time you have to deal with your insurer.

I won't mention that the author is a certified rightwinger, an American Enterprise Institute stooge.

No, I would never do that.

"Hey that's not SO bad. Just call the AG every time you have to deal with your insurer."

The fact that the situation remained a difficult one does not change the fact that Obama lied about it. The man received successful treatment that extended his life, and did not die as a result of losing coverage as Obama alleged.

"I won't mention that the author is a certified rightwinger, an American Enterprise Institute stooge."

If he's a hack, then show that anything he's saying is untrue. Otherwise, his background is irrelevant.

"More and more Americans pay their premiums, only to discover that their insurance company has dropped their coverage when they get sick, or won't pay the full cost of care. It happens every day."

It does happen every day, and there are literally thousands of examples. IF some of his examples were misstated, that is relatively unimportant, except to Obama-haters, who would call it a "lie" if he said, "Good morning".

Nobody said that specific part of his speech was a lie. Admit that the story about a guy dying because he was dropped was a lie, or STFU.

Even faux-attorneys should know the difference between a lie and a misstatement.

What purpose would there be to knowingly lie when there are so may true stories out there that are arguably worse than this one?

misstatement

Kind of like dodging sniper fire.

IF some of his examples were misstated, that is relatively unimportant...

Every day your blind allegiance gets worse. It's gone beyond "over the top" for shit's sake.

You were right however, there are worse examples out there, but Obama isn't concerned with actually telling the truth. He just needs to scare the public. Checking facts is not important to him when talking to the lowly masses. It's none of his sycophant's concern if what he says is actually true, all that matters is that he said it.

More like, "He can run, but he cannot hide."

Or, "Heckuva job, Brownie!"

-Checking facts is not important to him when talking to the lowly masses.

If those facts happen to be inaccurate, and I'm not sure that they are, then his fact checkers are incompetent.

The idea that it is a purposeful lie is too stupid even for you..... what, is Kayne Waste helping you?

Weren't you a big "The buck stops here" kind of gal during Bush's years?
What's changed...

Try finding something substantive to bitch about.

You've been hanging around with teabaggers, birthers, and Beckers too much.

Yes, of course, in leftwingloon world, pointing out an obvious lie (or whatever you water carriers call them now a days) is "bitching".

It just gets more and more funny with you cheerleaders.

How does one make a misstatement while reading off a teleprompter? Does that mean his staff "mis-researched" and "mis-wrote" the story too?

Bush's Iraq fiasco was due to a long series of misstatements.
