Michael Duvall, a married 54-year-old Republican state representative from Orange County, Calif., has resigned after being caught on an open microphone bragging about his sexual exploits with two mistresses. "I am getting into spanking her," he said of a 36-year-old lobbyist. "She goes, 'I know you like spanking me.' I said, 'Yeah! Because you're such a bad girl!'"

Duvall made the comments to fellow Assemblyman Jeff Miller, R-Corona (Riverside County), also a member of the Assembly Ethics Committee. Miller said he "really wasn't paying attention" to what Duvall was saying and did not alert the Ethics Committee about it.

While adultery and potentially trading sex for favors is dishonest...it is still not sick as there is no mental disorder that can be associated with those actions alone.

That, in turn may negatively affect the lobbyists clients, who might have done everything perfect, but everyone will wonder whether they were gaming the deal all along.

There's lots of people hurt by this.

2) if we were open about sexuality in society then the kids would not be hurt...as their pain comes from unrealistic expectations of their parents and will most likely grow out of any "pain" felt.

Why is it so difficult for so many people to remain faithful to their spouse? It really is not that hard to do. Just make a personal decision to be faithful and stick to it. We all understand and experience lust. But either most human beings are pathetically weak in being unable to resist temptation, or they don't really give a damn. This was my favorite news story when i saw it yesterday! Laughed. My. Ass. Off! I've begun to believe that every time we see a "values" person in politics, they're overcompensating for their lack thereof. Not a shock, nor a shock that the louts who vote for them are so gullible.

On a side note, who said cheating should be viable after 90 days without getting any? You're quite forgiving. I feel that unless there are extenuating circumstances such as business travel, military duty, or some such thing, the relationship contract is violated after 14 days - think about that - only twice a month?
