Why Obama's Address to Schoolchildren Is Objectionable

Michael S. Rozeff
Lew Rockwell.com
Monday, Sept 7th, 2009

As I read the many editorial columns and articles in support of Obama's speech, I can see that many writers are very upset and emotional over criticism of Obama's action. They also are clueless concerning the reasons why his address is unwelcome. They are name-calling. They are not bothering to mention, much less rebut, the reasoned objections of people like me.

I can at least articulate my reasons for objecting.

"We also found that Ronald Reagan took questions from high school students at the White House in 1986, and the question-and-answer session was broadcast nationally.

Reagan urged the students to stay in school and say no to drugs, but he also discussed overtly political matters, such as national defense funding, nuclear disarmament and -- in suprising policy detail -- taxes."

Horse shit.

Well, yet another flaming liberal leftie came out "... defending President Obama's decision to address the nation's school children, telling CNN Monday that it is "really important for everyone to respect the President of the United States.""
~Laura Bush

Oh, since when do Liberals like Laura Bush? Didn't Laura Bush kill some people? At least that is what I learned in the Ted Kennedy threads.

Link please.

Well, I'm not sure which post Fresno500 wants a link to, since he didn't specify, but if it's the Laura Bush comment, here it is:

politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com

How many things does the president do in the average day that are not explicitly spelled out in the Constitution? The notion that this speech to kids is unconstitutional may be the most absurd objection yet.

Sweet that the most recent First Lady came out in favor! Or at least in desiring respect. Maybe not in favor. And Bushes don't kill people; people kill people.

M Rozeff tried, but he still missed it. He has some valid points, but if he doesn't analyze all presidential actions through this lens, his credibility is shot. And since he ignores two known Republican presidents who did the same thing, he really has no credibility.

What was bush doing on the morning of 9/11? Talking in Kabbalistic code via satellite to his Illuminati co-cospirators?

Um... no. He was talking to children who just happy to see the president. Don't worry about Obama. Their parents, teachers, and religious educators have far more time to indoctrinate them.

There should be a limit to how many nonsensical articles one idiot is allowed to post on DR. Jeffendenmark goes way beyond any reasonable amount and it is getting annoying. At least every article he posts should have his name mentioned in the headline so that reasonable people wouldn't waste our time clicking on it. Jeff, get a hobby.

Embarrassing.

It's only controversial because a handful of nutcases opened their big yammering piehole on an "entertainment" show like Glen Beck's. These people are the most dispicable, dishonorable assholes ever propped up on the public stage. Each and every one of them should be tied to a chair and forced to watch their precious little children gang-raped by Black Muslim gangsters smoking crack cocaine while simultaneously setting fire to the Constitution and singing "Kum-bye-Ya" in Mandarin.

Obama has as much right to fart, belch and speak as you do.

Aaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuugggggghhhhhh
! Ka-Boom
This was the article that finaly made my head explode.

Oh! Now Danni what's to have me censored...
What a open minded free thinking little communist she is.

I remember when I first started posting on here, and pointing out all of Bushco's FUBARS, she was telling me how much she liked the way I pissed off the righties.

What a hypocrite.

Jeff, get a hobby.

Look at the evil filth that pours out of these so called liberals.

You would like to see children gang raped?

You must work for the CIA?

If the President were to live up to his oath to preserve and protect the Constitution, he would request that Congress repeal all its laws regarding education. Section 8 of Article I lists the powers of Congress. Education is not on that list. So when the President addresses schoolchildren, he breaks his oath in several ways.

The earliest forefathers of the USA knew that a democracy could only function properly with an educated electorate.

Hence America was one of the first places on earth to make schooling mandatory for the majority.

This Rozeff guy is just another anti-Obama whackjob.

/Albeit one with a spell check feature which is a merciful relief from most of them.

The President is a political leader. He is not in office to be an educator. His duties are clearly laid out, and they do not include educating children. By the same token, the President is not the parent of all these children. He is not their teacher. He is not their religious leader

And who is claiming that he's a religious leader?

This "Mesiah" shiat from the rtards don't count. K?

He is the political leader of all Americans, young and old.

His job, in part, is to promote programs and achieve concensus on direction and to keep folks informed on all levels.

His speech to the kids did no harm and maybe achieved some good.

Your so-called "reasoned arguments" are not so much rational and they are rationalisations.

Be Well.

WTF did Snark say to warrant that outburst?

Embarrassing.

Wow, just wow.

You got all that from "Embarrassing"?

Now THAT is embarrasing ...fer you, Jeffn.

Be Well.

Unless of course you were talking about #15...

Cos that'd make more sense.

Methinks Snark was making a point about hyperbole and lies being a two way street there.

But yer perfectly entitled to believe that Snark actually literally wants those thing to happen.

Or even that the reptile folk who live at the center of the earth have mind controlled Snark into typing that.

You know. Wotever floats yer boat these days.

Be Well.

**** to preserve and protect the Constitution, he would request that Congress repeal all its laws regarding education ******

.......a pro-ignorance ignoramus.........

.....well at least he is consistent in his vision for our country.......

NO President should force themselves into the schools.

whether its a Bush, or an Obama.

Those kids aren't allowed to vote.

They should not be influenced to "respect" the POTUS.
The only people they should look to for moral leadership are their parents.

They should not even recieve moral leadership from teachers.

That stuff is to be learned at home.

Teachers should teach.

President's should keep their faces off of the school TV screens.

Presidents are not to be looked up to as authority on ANYTHING.

They are to be distrusted.

The message to "stay in school" should come from home, thank you very much.

Presidents are not to be looked up to as authority on ANYTHING.

Wish you dumbfucks had applied that "logic" to Bush.

I never considered Bush or any other Pres an AUTHORITY on anything.

I happen to have agreed to a large degree with Repub Presidents agendas thru history, that's all.

The message to "stay in school" should come from home, thank you very much.

In many families parents aren't home or are such poor role models what they say has little meaning.

I heard this too and its another testiment to the class and integrity of both laura and george
respect for the office ..something he never got from goddamn democrats.

and after reading the speech there is little in it that could be controversial
UNLESS the part about the country being a democracy is still there...NOT SURE if it was this speech or his CAMPAIGN speech in cincinatti over the weekend that he talked about this democracy.

uh excuse me sir but I dont believe thats what we are...you may WANT it to be so you can pull a 'chavez' when you need to ...

Obama has as much right to fart, belch and speak as you do.

I am pretty sure I can 'take him' in all three areas.

So my kids, and many others, have to be subjected to idol worship of the President vis a vi the school system?

Because a couple of kids have scummy parents????

"I heard this too and its another testiment to the class and integrity of both laura and george"

George had nothing to do with it, and has been conspicuously silent on this issue. It seems only Laura has class and integrity.

Read his REVISED speech - nothing out of the ordinary - except for lesson plan conflicts there is no reason it could not be shown in the classroom. Bush, Reagan and others spoke to students in an apolitical/encouragement manner so now that his speech is the same, public "outrage" should be quieted. I would rather time be spent on vetting his other activist czar appointments.

dan
you know I wasnt just talking about this issue.
if W were a democrat he would have been in every paper all over europe talking shit about obama

Heard Obama's speech. It was great. Right-wingers, you were and are crazy. It must hurt.

Here is a guy in Europe for Chrissake's telling me that MY prez has no right to speak to my kid?

Jeff, you are batshit crazy.

"Read his REVISED speech"

Prove it's revised.

but just like health care all together..
if we had not spoken out we would now be under the yoke of government health care and same way here
if we had not spoken up the dept of education would have provied the lesson plans which they arent really supposed to do and it would have been yet another obama brown shirt moment

so your problem isnt with what we are saying..its that we are daring to question the GRAND POOBAH at all.

First and foremost, unless you have kids, shut the fuck up.

Well said 101

First and foremost, unless you have kids, shut the fuck up.-101

Ludicrous argument.

You want the Pope to never mention kids, either?

First and foremost, unless you have kids, shut the fuck up.

wrong again

just as in the bullshit about not serving you have no right to talk about the military

if you follow your line then no man can ever talk about or even vote on abortion.

He has a hobby.

How incredibly sad.

"You're problem isn't with what we are saying..."

What you're saying has become consistently over-shadowed by a florid weirdness you seem to have no awareness concerning.
